  1. Will Save the Galaxy for Food, Ben "Yahtzee" Croshaw I have not watched Zero Punctuation for years so I was surprised when I saw this on display at the front of the Main Library, so I gave it a try. I really enjoyed the story. I was expecting copious references to video games but I think there were more times pointing out how orange the villain is over any references to video games. It was a story where I enjoyed the book and then realized that the author was showing his perspective on purist vs. idealized looks at great events in the past. According to several news sources, the book will have a graphic novel release from Dark Horse Comics.
  2. Don't worry Damien, You may not be the best narrator but I believe that you are a reader. Possibly one of the readers of the open range.
  3. Rick and Morty: I really wanted to like this show. Every time I watch it, I just am reminded of how "The Amazing World of Gumball" did it better.
  4. Damien's mention of the robot spider from "Superman Lives" starring Nicholas Cage, was referenced in the Superman Doomsday animated movie.
  5. The Amazing World of Gumball- Season Five went out the gate with such a bold statement critiquing the Peoples Republic of China. But I had to applaud their Valentines day. I did not think they could top "The Shell" which had even Jonathan Enter praise it for being a good love story. It would not surprise me if someone in the top argued against having a love story in a children's series teach the lesson that if you really love someone you should be able to let them go, even when it breaks your heart. ... A ten minute children's cartoon made me cry over a ghost that was in love with a walking goldfish.
  6. Since the Street fighter II game advertised is "Ultra Street fighter II : the final challenger", will Mortal Kombat respond by releasing M.K. Ultra?
  7. Rest in Peace Kilgharrah, you were the greatest of the dragons.
  8. I downloaded a image by the artist Kawacy.
  9. I have been told that the only way that Scrooge McDuck's measurement of the money bin (three cubic acres of cash) can only be measured in six dimensions. So having the money bin using TARDIS technology now makes sense if the tenth doctor is playing Scrooge.
  10. I did not realize Oscar Isaac was Guatemalan. In my head cannon that is the most appropriate nationality to represent in Star Wars.
  11. Jem was the episode that I looked the most forward to. That is why I made fan art with the real protagonists teaming up with Xyler and Craz, much to the disappointment of Glenn Danzig and Jerry Only.
  12. I have found many find Jennifer Garner attractive because she resembles Amy Jo Johnson.
  13. Books of magic by Neil Gaiman illustrated by Scott Hampton, John Bolton, Charles Vess, and Paul Johnson: It is Harry Potter before Harry Potter. It was a way for people who did not know DC's magic superheros to get an understanding of the heroes and a couple of the villains. It has that epic story feel that I loved in Kingdom Come. Just Wonderful. Graphic Novel: 1
  14. Should there be a different thread for audiobooks that we listened to? Or can we post here?
  15. I want to see the ghost team up with Karkus from "The Mind Robber."
  16. Hanna had some strong points, one hit me like an epiphany. (my avatar of the epiphany panda was merely coincidental) The other one I disagree with. I am going to start with the one I disagree with. I have not found the Twilight series to influence chastity. In high school a friend of mine loved twilight and was falling in love with every other girl he came across. My little sister nicknamed him "Brock" from the Pokemon series. Last I heard he was engaged to the mother of his child. The part that I did not realize until you mentioned it was the character assassination in YA novel series. I was pointing this out to my mom and she defended the series with "but they are happy." to which I interjected by applying it to one of her favorite stories, Pride and Prejudice (which is also a story that Stephanie Meyers claims to read once a year) "Okay If Pride and Prejudice was a contemporary YA novel then right after Elizabeth Bennett decides to marry Mr. Darcy Mr. Darcy is going to do something over the top terrible, like go on a killing spree in a church, which causes her to end up with Bingley. My mom just laughed at how absolutely absurd that idea was and I felt like I made my point.

    Randomness

I did not realize Guy Gardner was a real astronaut.
  18. (just read the first post) oh my goodness that is just.....(Shudders.)
  19. Didn't Herzog make a sequel (or remake) to a Nicolas Cage movie with intentionally no knowledge of the previous film? I have thought of making fan art to characters or objects of things I have never seen only heard about. Herzog ing may not take off but it is fun to do every once in a while.
  20. Random Thought: Dubs what is your opinion of David Lynch's "Dune?"
  21. Some co-workers got a good laugh when they saw Brian Blessed talk about punching a polar bear.
