  1. Day 5 - A Comic That Reminds You of Someone

    300px-Batman421.jpg

This issue, and the two after it, make me think of my parents, because they bought me this 3-pack of Batman comics and I remember reading them and thinking "There is NO WAY they'd let me read this if they knew what it was about."

  2. Day 2- Least Favorite Comic (Ongoing)

And I know it just, just, just started, but this is pretty shit-tastic:

Although Green Arrow is sincerely shit, I think Marvel takes the cake for crap right now.

Are we really doing all-time lists, too? I'm going to have to think about that one.

  3. Am I the only one happy that we don't have them playing Talia or a gangster or something like that? Seriously, I'm just happy that the film isn't sounding overcrowded like all the stupid rumors were sounding.

I'm right with you. Two pages ago, people were bemoaning the fact that Talia would be leading the new League of Shadows headed by Bane. STOP JUMPING TO CONCLUSIONS, INTERNET!!!

Really, Ian? You might as well tell the Internet to stop looking at porn and being douchebags while you're at it.

  4. HUGE bump, I know, but I finally saw this and was wondering what people actually thought of it. It was completely ridiculous - I must've rolled my eyes dozens of times - but it was fun for a one-time watch.

And Danny Trejo must have pictures of Steven Spielberg fucking a goat while Harvey Weinstein jerked off on James Cameron. The list of women Trejo has bedded on film is STUNNING: Michelle Rodriguez, Jessica Alba, Lindsay Lohan and the chick playing Lohan's mom - just in this one movie!!!

  5. Associated Press story on what's next for Captain America. Don't read if you like surprises - well, kind of surprises.

Steve Rogers to don Captain America suit again

    By MATT MOORE

    Associated Press

PHILADELPHIA — The original Cap is coming back.

Marvel Comics said Monday that Steve Rogers, the young man who tried but failed to join the Army during World War II only to take a super-soldier serum that turned him into the agile, strong and daring Captain America, will return to the role in "Captain America" No. 1 in July.

Nearly four years ago, Rogers abandoned the costume, and the job, after he was gunned down on the steps of a courthouse and thought dead. Since then, his former sidekick, Bucky, has been sporting the shield and a sidearm, too.

But with a new film this summer from Marvel Studios — "Captain America: The First Avenger" — it's unthinkable to have someone else wearing the costume and throwing the shield other than Rogers.

Marvel is keeping mum about the new series' story but said it is being written by Ed Brubaker, who has been guiding the character for years, drawing critical acclaim for the gritty realism of the character. Rogers himself returned to the Marvel Universe in 2009 and, not surprisingly, wasn't dead, but lost in time. Still, Rogers operated on the sidelines while Bucky continued to serve as Captain America.

"I gave myself a few challenges for this new No. 1 — I wanted to do the perfect Cap comic for anyone who walks out of the Cap movie and wants to know what's next, but it also had to build on everything I've done on the book beforehand, too, and feel like the natural next step," Brubaker said in a statement.

Captain America has long been a bedrock character for Marvel. Created by Jack Kirby and Joe Simon in 1941, his debut issue showed him knocking out Adolf Hitler on the cover of "Captain America Comics" No. 1. Since then he's been part of The Avengers, paired with The Falcon to fight crime in the city and been a part of practically every major event created to roil the Marvel Universe.

Kevin Feige, the head of Marvel Studios, told the New York Daily News that the character is one of the best examples of what makes Marvel's characters so popular.

"When his mask comes off, Steve Rogers is just like us. He's the kind of hero who always strives to be something more — to be a better person," he told the newspaper, which reported the new series on Monday.

Marvel said that artist Steve McNiven will handle the art for the new series, something Brubaker lauded.

"Steve is at the top of his game, and no one draws action like him," he said. "I can't wait for these issues to start coming out."

McNiven, who drew the Marvel mini-series "Civil War" and "New Avengers," called Steve Rogers' Cap a character he's wanted to "work on in more depth since 'Civil War,' a real icon of the Marvel Universe."

Personally, I'm really not sure how I feel about this.

  6. The writer of Flash was interviewed sometime last year, and said it was a Barry film that focused on the CSI aspect of his character.

    Wow. That sounds exciting.

Iris: "Do you have anything to say about this terrible tragedy, Scarlet Speedster?"

Flash: "Yes, I do. I'll have this wrapped up..."

  7. I think she could be about as young as 27 and have it still make sense. Any younger than that and it just seems silly.

Nah. I could never buy that. I'm in the business and the odds of a famous lead journalist at the main paper of a huge city being that young are just about astronomical.

And the odds a man could fly?

You could really use that argument for anything in comics ever. Should we never want a little dose of realism? Did YOU buy Kate Bosworth as Lois Lane?

EDIT: I know it's a fantastic story. I'm not trying to be an asshole or something. But as somebody's who's been in the newspaper business for six years now, I'd have a hard time accepting that character as that young.
