  1. Andy Diggle just retweeted my response to his post: "Anything that gets more kids reading comics is a good thing. Marvel & DC superheroes were *created* for kids."

My response: "So to get more kids reading comics, you're cool with alienating the readers who have read their entire lives?"

No comment or anything, which has just led to idiots mocking me. I love Internet discussions. Twitter has truly changed our lives for the better.

  2. With not much of an effort, this could honestly push me out of comics entirely. And I'm not even exaggerating. I can barely afford what I get right now trade-waiting and DC is basically all I read. If this is as destructive as it appears, why would I even read anymore?

  3. Day 17 - Your Favorite Superhero Comic

Though I love Invincible, I gotta go with Venneh here.

    Day 18 - Your Favourite Non-Superhero Comic

I just don't really read non-superhero stuff right now, so I gotta go All-Time here:

    GI-Joe-155.jpg

I picked this because G.I. Joe comics WERE my childhood. And I picked this issue because I'm in constant heartache that I lost it when I got married and moved and it was AMAZING. The price has sky-rocketed since then, so I can't even afford to buy a new copy. (Le sigh)

  4. I hope you're right, because that fucking suit makes my blood boil.

There are Bat-costumes with nipples and the Superman Returns suit is what switches on your rage?

Well, those Bat-costumes never happened. There were no Batman movies between "Batman Returns" and "Batman Begins." Why, do you recall movies between then? Because, to my knowledge, nothing existed during that time period. Hey, remember how Joel Schumacher only made one movie between 1994 and 1999?

  5. Why is that, Koete? Is it just the crossovers that have turned you off lately? Because GL is one of my all-time favorites, but they're burning me out too.

The Amazing Technicolor Dream Corps and Johns' idolizing of Hal killed the title for me.

Makes sense. If I could step back and be rational about my favorite character, I'd agree with ya. But I'm clutching tightly because I don't want to give up on it.

  6. Canadian trailer, with some pretty big spoilers.

I literally have no idea what is going on in any of that except the end. I wanna watch, but I have a feeling this show's history has moved too far beyond me.

And is that the shitty "Superman Returns" uniform, with the tiny S shield?

  7. Day 14 - Least Favorite Artist

    Frank Quitely

    tumblr_lip9x0wmNG1qa1kbmo1_400.jpg

There are some truly shitty artists in comics, but of the guys working regularly, I dislike Quitely the most. I believe he's a very good artist, but he can't draw people for shit. Have you ever met a person who looks like one of Quitely's characters? Ever? I don't know anyone whose face looks even remotely like his drawings.

God, Wonder Woman looks like a teenaged boy with a facial deformity in this one!

Day 15 - Your Favourite Creative Team

    Johns/Manapul

And I haven't been doing this, but all-time:

    Bendis/Oeming

  8. Day 13 - A Comic By Your Favourite Artist

I feel like I'm following the crowd here, but fuck it. I love Darwyn Cooke's work.

    Honorable mentions:

    Francis Manapul

    Amanda Conner

And it would be pretty repetitive to post more, but of course Skottie Young rules.

  9. Day 12 - A Comic By Your Least Favorite Writer

I've gone back and forth on this. But at the end of the day, I've liked stuff that Loeb has written, and hated stuff, but there's one writer who's work I've read, I've fucking hated:

    wanted%20gamestop%20cover_color.jpg

Mark Millar. Wanted is a gigantic load of shite, that I'm still surprised they made a fun movie out of. Kick Ass was just so fucking mean spirited, and Civil War was great in theory, but in execution, it made no sense to me, and just ended out of nowhere when I read it.

It seems like he could be a good writer, but he seems more comfortable writing the "Shocking and real" that it sort of takes the fun out of comics. Also, him calling the reader a fucking loser who's wasting their lives reading comics at the end of Wanted was just so mean spirited and so out of place from the crap that Wanted was, that I just felt like it was Millar's personal opinion.

So, even though he's from Scotland, I cannot fucking stand Mark Millar, and I think his work, and Wanted in particular is just garbage and very overrated.

    You should read this.

  10. I'm most excited to see Sinestro.

Anyone have a problem with the ring making fire? While I know only basic Green Lantern details, I guess you could justify it saying the ring makes the appearance of fire, since fire is really just of energy in the forms of heat and light, but shouldn't it be green? I kind of reasoned it out for myself haha but anyone else have an opinion?

Yeah, I had a problem with that. As I had a problem with the "gun" having muzzle flashes and bullet noises. But I'd guess that's a concession to audiences - you can't ask people to give up their pre-conceived notions all at once. People see fire, they expect orange.

  11. This is a tough one for me. My instinct told me Bendis, but his work over the last few years has been really inconsistent (to say the least). And Brubaker and Fraction are up there for me, but if I had to choose...

    Justice%20League%20-%20Generation%20Lost%2021.jpg

Judd Winick. I can't think of a Winick-written storyline that I haven't liked. And with his awesome work on Generation Lost and Power Girl, he's scripting my favorite books right now.

  12. Day 6 - A Comic That Reminds You of Somewhere

    3489-1.jpg

College. I discovered Barry Ween at the AWESOME comic shop just off campus at Penn State.

Day 7 - A Comic That Reminds You of Your Past

    8608381_1.jpg

My childhood was just smothered in G.I. Joe and I got the comics as often as possible. For some reason, this one always stood out to me, to the point where I remembered the issue number all these years later.

Day 8 - Comic That You Can Quote the Best

    DC+The+Dark+Knight+Returns.PNG

It's a tough one between this and "Watchmen." In the end, I picked this because I thought Watchmen would be a real common pick.
