They sit there and condemn China, Nth Korea, etc for censoring the internet to their citizens, yet come out and try and do the exact same thing.

I don't think anyone is questioning any individual soldiers actions, from what I can tell, they (wikileaks and the news agencies reporting) are trying to hold the people in charge, giving the orders to account. I agree that some things need to stay secret, where I think wikileaks has caused problems, is the timing. Old diplomats, secret service agents, etc, release memoirs frequently that talk about what they did for their country and people don't get upset at them (for the most part). This is because it is from past events that have no bearing on what is happening currently. Wikileaks is releasing things from only months ago, which can have an impact. I would say so far wikileaks is fine in practice, they really haven't done any damage. More to the point, why is the focus on them and not the news agencies reporting on the leaks themselves. On a lighter note, apparently Visa and Mastercard aren't processing donations for Wikileaks anymore, but, they're happy to still process KKK memberships payments Link.

Watched "The Social Network" yesterday. Was really really good. I didn't think it painted Zuckerberg as bad as people have said. He just comes across as every other highly intelligent success story. Most of those people who focus on one great idea seem to ostracize those close to them. (Buffet, Gates, Brin, Jobs, etc). The ending was really really lame though, it's the one thread of the story that I don't think is close to reality. But everything else was done really well. Even Timberlake was good, as he always seems likable on interviews, and he was a real prick in this. Of course that could have just been Sorkins script, but he wasn't Britney bad or anything like that. Hard to pick the star of the show though. Eisenberg was fantastic, but I thought Andrew Garfield was fantastic. He stole almost every scene he was in. I don't think I've seen him before, but he could definitely be one of the next crop of big stars to come through. Will be interesting to see what he does with Spidey.

Totally agree with that. The gap between 'media' and 'journalist' is getting bigger with every 'late breaking exclusive'..... My definition of the media is : To blame everyone else for why the audiences shitty life sucks, while providing maximum profits to shareholders. A journalist should be there to hold those in power accountable to those people who gave them the power in the first place.
