Missy Posted August 6, 2009 Report Posted August 6, 2009 The man obviously wrote more films than these eight, but, as always, I want to focus on directorial work. That said, first choose your favorite John Hughes film, then his best. Quote
Dread Posted August 6, 2009 Report Posted August 6, 2009 Ferris for favorite but Breakfast Club for best. Hard one. At one point I could recite both Uncle Buck and PT&A verbatim without the film to guide me. Great films, sad to see him go. I guess he was in movie jail though. Not a lot of directorial stuff as of late. Quote
SuaveStar Posted August 6, 2009 Report Posted August 6, 2009 I chose planes, trains for both, as it is as funny as it is touching. Quote
Missy Posted August 6, 2009 Author Report Posted August 6, 2009 I have to see Ferris again, because I have a feeling I'll have a different take on it now that I'm (supposedly) an adult. Uncle Buck is an underrated classic in my mind, and I'd love to say it's my favorite or his best, but it's not. I think both have to go to The Breakfast Club, but I'm holding off for now. Quote
Molly Posted August 6, 2009 Report Posted August 6, 2009 Uncle Buck is my favorite without a second thought. Great freakin' movie. Breakfast Club is probably the best. Oh Molly Ringwald, you were so hot. Quote
Missy Posted August 6, 2009 Author Report Posted August 6, 2009 Oh Ally Sheedy, you were so hot. Quote
MaxPower Posted August 6, 2009 Report Posted August 6, 2009 Uncle Buck for favourite and Planes, Trains & Automobiles for best. For some reason PT&A just always hits me right in the soft spot. But in looking at the list, you know the great thing about his movies, any of them you could just put in and watch regardless of how you're feeling. Happy day, sad day, rainy day, sunny day, heartbreak day, etc, they're all just really good films. Quote
JackFetch Posted August 7, 2009 Report Posted August 7, 2009 My personal favorite is Weird Science, but The Breakfast Club is a great movie overall. Quote
J Marv Posted August 7, 2009 Report Posted August 7, 2009 Ferris Bueller's Day Off for favorite. The Breakfast Club will probably be considered his best work. I don't know that it's better than all of the others (namely Bueller), but I can't think of any of them I could say is truthfully better than it. Quote
Guest DCAUFan1051 Posted August 7, 2009 Report Posted August 7, 2009 while I pretty much agree with everyone.... I don't think I could pick 1 over the other. Ferris, Breakfast Club, Uncle Buck, & PT&A are all awesome. Will I be stoned for asking why Home Alone 1-2 wasn't on the poll? lol Quote
Stavros Posted August 7, 2009 Report Posted August 7, 2009 Breakfast club for both. I wasn't expecting to really enjoy it that much and was blown away. Bueller is clever and funny but I can't bring myself to truly like any of the characters involved. Maybe if I'd seen it when I was young. Quote
SuaveStar Posted August 7, 2009 Report Posted August 7, 2009 He didn't direct them, he did write them though. Bueller is clever and funny but I can't bring myself to truly like any of the characters involved. What about Quote

I just don't like Ferris or Cameron really. Quote
SuaveStar Posted August 7, 2009 Report Posted August 7, 2009 Obviously that excludes pot head Charlie Sheen, that goes without saying. I just don't like Ferris or Cameron really. Well, that's fair, was worried for a second you included him. Quote
Shinmaru Posted August 8, 2009 Report Posted August 8, 2009 Ferris Bueller is my favorite. As for his best, I really want to say Planes, Trains & Automobiles, but it's been a while since I watched it, so I'd have to see it again to be sure. Quote
Dread Posted August 8, 2009 Report Posted August 8, 2009 I would change my vote if I could. A local station had Breakfast Club on last night and man it does not hold up one iota. One of the most dated films I have seen. Ferris feels as new as the day it came out still. Quote
