RSS
Sharon figures out her brother's secret in "Brother-Sister Act," then in "Static Shaq" Shaquille O'Neal pays a visit to Dakota. "Frozen Out" is the story of a lonely homeless girl, and "Sunspots" sees Virgil lose his powers. And lastly, pops gets a girlfriend in the appropriately titled "Pop's Girlfriend." Koete
A new printing of The Killing Joke was solicited in the latest Previews at $5.99.
Koete
Grant Morrison is on Batman and Robin for 12 issues. His Batman magnum opus, begun with Batman and Son, will probably last a couple more years.
Tom BITD
Y'know...I'm going to listen to this later tonight...but I'm can't wait to hear Mike's reaction as STATIC SHOCK gets more and more mired in tie-ins to Hip-Hop culture. Y'know, like the team of basketball playing super-heroes....

"No, I insist. 2." That's one of my favorite WFP moments. Kangor's jamaican. Are you sure? 'Cause it seems like the kangaroo guy would be Australian. Koete
I could swear I've heard / read somewhere that Morrison has the book plotted for a few years. I've always heard it as 12 issues, but I'd love for him to write it for 3 years.
grahamvidger
Kangor's jamaican. Are you sure? 'Cause it seems like the kangaroo guy would be Australian. Kangor has a Jamaican accent and how he speaks English is much like another Jamaican, with the tiny bit of a different vocabulary.
grahamvidger
I just watched the newt 5 Static episodes to prepare for episode 61, and "Jimmy" is better "Sons Of The Fathers", if you watch Jimmy, it may be kind of cheesy but it displays it's message well and it had me sort of vibrating, my body, at the end. I just had to post feelings about this somewhere, immediately. I felt like I was a mix of feeling scared, sad for one of the characters, and shocked, no pun intended, I am serious. This, and "Sons Of The Fathers" are two must watch Static Shock episodes. Something I just realized, WFP has gone through Lobo, Gotham Girls, (even though both of those took one episode), The Zeta Project, and about half the Static Shock episodes all in ten WFP episodes. It's seemed like WFP has reviewed more than that since the end of Batman Beyond.

James D.
My allergies were absolutely haywire when we recorded. I was sniffling and sneezing the whole time (I must have pressed my mic's mute button 55 times), but damn it, this one was so much fun to record. James D.
After your thoughts on "Static Shaq," I can't wait to hear you eviscerate "Hoop Squad." I eagerly await the chance to lose valuable brain cells for your amusement, Koete.
Guest DCAUFan1051
I'm kinda out of it as I type this but I must chime in on Static's powers going haywire. The only thing I can think of even if your not a super powered person friction causes static. So I can see why other materials outside of metal objects would be attracted to Static in the Sunspots ep. But I could be wrong.
Missy
Great point, Mike, but in an early episode they said Static could only control objects made of metal. Because of that, we have to point out when they're not consistent with the rules they established.
Koete
I don't remember if you mentioned it specifically in the episode, but I just realized Static made a Lois Lane joke after the Batman crossover.
Missy
I know he made one in Frozen Out, but what other Lois jokes has he made?
Koete
The one in Frozen Out is the one I'm referring to.
Missy
Ah, yes. We mentioned it.
Molly
Depending on the content of the reference, it might make sense. If it's a reference to how Superman is always saving Lois, that makes sense. Lois is famous, Superman is famous, it would be something Virgil could have heard of in Dakota. Missy
We simply pointed it out. No remark was made about it messing with continuity.
Molly
To be fair, I've neither seen the episode of Static in question, nor had the time to listen to the Podcast.
James D.
Random thought: I was trying to do a Meatwad impersonation in our final review there, but my nasal/throat problems prevented it. People have told me I do a spot-on impression of him, so I will try again sometime soon.
