Oh there's no doubt that Darkseid will be back in his old ass-kicking form, if you've seen the FC Sketchbook. But I like this incarnation as long as it's in Morrison's hands. Picked this up and read it last night. I liked the main story, the characterization and the writing of the three heroes. It was great. But the backup story was fucking horrendously amateurish. What a piece of shit that was in muddled storytelling and terrible, terrible art (sorry Scott Mcdaniel, but you can do better). I won't be picking this up ever, unless they publish the trades separately. Bagley does a great Superman, though.

Got 12 Grand? Seriously, you don't need them. The original COIE is widely available in paperback. I only remember the hardcover of IC but I'm sure there's a pb out there somewhere. Leave Countdown alone! I didn't waste 25 hours of my life for people to go and buy the trades! Listen to the Countdown episodes of the show and then try and buy 'em. You won't allow yourself to. Try 52 instead. It will be more relevant to FC than Countdown anyway. Bonus! It's actually damn good too!

Funnily enough, there is a movie review assignment in one of the courses I teach and the student provided an analysis of three different reviews, one of them regarded Stan Lee as taking Larry King's place as the overused celluloid whore of the decade. I want him to stay away. The fact that he's getting more and more speaking roles disgusts me. I almost walked out of SM3 when he showed up and now this. Ugh.
