    Confession Time

To be fair it was Al Plastino who had a decidedly Curt Swan look. But if you wanted to draw Superman at that time you had to have a Curt Swan look. Dull looking if you ask me.

I knew it! Ditkolover! I kid. I know that Kirby isn't for everybody. Hell DC wouldn't let him draw Superman's face!
  3. Listened to it last night. I really enjoyed the banter you two have and your insight was fun. I'd throw in for less summary and more analysis. Maybe outlining points common to Bond films (like the opening chase scene which begins with From Russia with Love if I remember) and discussing why they're successful or not. I'd like you to give me reasons to go back and watch them with a heightened appreciation rather than nullifying the need to watch them again, if you know what I mean...

I just died a little inside...tell me you understand his impact!

Megan and I have been watching 2 and a Half Men lately...and enjoying it. Sometimes you need a half hour of dick jokes you know?
  6. Sin City? American Splendor? Ghost World? Get on these you limey!
  7. I guess. Maybe it's just the X-Men fanboy in me but the way Kirby drew Magneto always just blew me away, the way he used his eyes to express everything that needed to be said. Especially any page where he is shrouded in darkness where you can only see shades of the helmet and those eyes just lurking at you, terrifying stuff. He also drew the sexiest Jean Grey by far. But then again when pages like that are considered some of your weaker work, that only further signifies why Kirby is the greatest comic artist ever! Amen. Which reminds me...<walking off to get the smoke flying on the next King and I>
  8. nope. i got the softcover, i guess that would explain why that page is blank lol but yea it is a really beautiful book. the only nitpick i had was there was a severe lack of any X-Men pages. True, but I would argue that that is some of his worst Marvel work. That along with the Namor stuff he was doing for Tales of Suspense (I think).
  9. the art on the acknowledgements page or somewhere else ? The first page of the book has a photo of Jack at the 1973 San Diego Comic Con, and then it's the acknowledgements page. Right facing page of the inside cover. Did you get the hardcover?

    Final Crisis

He doesn't give a fuck and I think people are afraid to stop him. After his X-Men debacle it seems as though he has a "I'll do whatever the fuck I want because they'll just change it afterwards" mentality and it is making for some stunning stories. Comics needs him.
  11. I haven't brought myself to read it but I've flipped through it three times and it brought a tear to my eye each time! This book was made for me. What is the art on the inside cover of your book Mal? I got a sketch of the Surfer from the cover of the SS graphic novel.

    Final Crisis

Well, issue one was pretty freaking sweet if you ask me. JG Jones is sharp as ever and, besides a few niggles, the story was excellent. I did not like Luthor saying "My creed is Luthor." Too Darkseid-y. For people a little left in the lurch at the gods of the fifth world, check out the Miracle Man mini Morrison did. Oh yeah...Renee "Question" Montoya finishes a conversation with a cop and leaves by jumping off a bridge? That was a little much. If anybody is taking the Kirby properties and running with them then Morrison is the only one beside myself and maybe Walt Simonson that I'd trust.

    Trinity

I saw very little of that in the preview at Newsarama (hate the new Newsarama by the way) but did kind of like the art. I may flip through it at the local if they have a copy tomorrow.
  15. Hope they're dropping charges on the BBC and Channel 4 too since I heard stuff just as harsh before dinnertime when I lived there on those channels...

    Ultimate Origins #1

I read #1 and it was awful. The Ultimate universe has always been didactic: awesome and sucky. But it's less and less didactic the older it gets. Read: sucky. Of course this will change everything forever and all of Quesada's wanky lines...

    Ultimate Origins #1

Just sounds like bullhonkey that they've retroactively decided to exploit and they're telling everyone it was planned all along. The Ultimate Universe is dead. Warren Ellis killed it. Mike Carey shit on its corpse.

So...Professor X is in his fifties? Magneto too? What happened to World War 2?
  19. Ah! You're right. I forgot about his whole six seconds of screeen time
  20. Be careful Kellen. I think he...did things...to your birthday wish. You're a sick man Yoda!
  21. Yeah, I always cringe a bit when I hear a wrestler is acting...DDP is alright. You should check out Driftwood to see him act.
  22. NOW, it's time to wish Kellen a happy b-day! Many enjoyable returning feelings to your happy cake belly Kellen-san!
