  1. Yeah, personally, I don't remember WW being marketed at all. It was fucking kickass, though.
  2. I should've said this before, but I really enjoyed the Return of Bruce Wayne review. While I haven't seen a 'home run' story from Morrison, IMO, for a while, this sort of epitomized his style - obtuse, obscure and only slightly explained.
  3. I would say Thanos has got to be pretty high up there. Unless we're counting him as one of those force of nature guys. Otherwise, as long as we're talking about people who are basically, well, people, Red Skull would be my answer.
  4. I enjoyed Red Robin #17, too. In fact, I'm enjoying all the Return of Bruce Wayne books I've seen, as well.
  5. I agree with pretty much all of that. Weisz as Talia would be epic.

    Superman: Earth-One

That's just ridiculous. Will anyone ever give him a high-profile job again? Why would they? I remember how much I loved "Rising Stars" back in the day, and then he just let it die. He makes Kevin Smith look reliable.
  7. "Cloak and Dagger" on ABC Family? So the network who specializes in Disney TV movies and that show that talks about teenage motherhood and just had Bristol Palin on - will feature a superhero drama (I assume) about a mixed race couple who are kidnapped, drugged until overdose and mutated - though not physically, I guess - then start a war on the dark corners of the drug trade? On ABC Family?
  8. I guess I have forgotten a lot of Batman 700, because I'm just not sure what's going on there. Maybe my recall just isn't very good!
  9. I just assume that costumed hero isn't an insurable profession. Yeah. Just imagine the contract: "Mssr. Spider-Man has a yearly deductible of $850,000. This policy does not cover World-Eaters, clone identity theft or the loss of loved ones through deals with manifestations of any form of the devil, Satan, Beelzebub, etc."
  10. That looks cool, but I am just SO confused. I haven't read any of the Rip Hunter and the Scooby Gang jump through time books. Is there anything there that's really important to the overall story?
  11. So far Bruce doesn't mind the the grandson of one of his arch-enemies being the current Robin so if he brings it up, she has a good counter, especially since Wendy has never shown any sociopathic tendencies. Um, you mean he doesn't have a problem with his son being the current Robin? Still, that is a measure of understanding, so I see your point.
  12. Yeah, I just saw that. Wikipedia shall lead us, my children. Seems strange still to let the daughter of her arch-enemy into her confidence, regardless of her background. I can't believe Bruce would be OK with that, when he finds out.
  13. Um, why would she tell her every secret she's ever held dear? (Maybe that's explained in the issue, though)
  14. I don't read "Batgirl" so I gotta ask: Who the heck is Barbara talking to in that preview? The strange person who she's revealing every single Bat family secret to?
  15. So who do you consider to be great artists? Let's see... My favorite artist right now would probably be Ivan Reis. Love Amanda Conner. I adore Jim Lee's more recent work, like on "Hush." Love Oeming. Calafiore, Bryan Hitch, Rags Morales, Skottie Young, Larroca, David Finch, Nicola Scott, I'm liking Sami Basri's stuff... those seem to cover me right now, I think.
  16. I swear to God, I'm not trying to be contrarian. I think that's some of the worst art I've ever seen in a big book. Then again, people like Quitely, too, and he can't draw people either.
  17. I can understand not being a fan of Irving's style, but comparing it to shit? I don't really know how else to put it. That's awful. The entire Batman "family" looks like chubby Maxwell Lord Matryoshka dolls? The dude in panel four whose face looks like a melted Peanut M&M? Alfred's face is so thin he looks like a Pez dispenser? I'm sorry, I just can't imagine in what world that doesn't suck.
  18. The art in that is fucking HORRIBLE. Like someone shit all over the page.
  19. Yeah, I know, but still. Sorry about the "no spoilers tag," man.
  20. First thing I see on the Associated Press wire this morning: Major spoilers below! I told my buddy - a big superhero fan who keeps up with the stories but just doesn't read comics - and he says, "Did Grant Morrison hate Batman as a child and he just wants to ruin him forever?" I won't go that far - you guys know I hate Morrison - but I just don't see how this is a good idea.

    Superman: Earth-One

Hey, at least, they got publicity, right? You got USA Today and the Associated Press writing about comics. That's gotta count for something. Maybe? Kinda? ... Screw it. "Batman: Earth One" still sounds good. Good-ish?
  22. Dubs, I loved your review of "Superior." I scanned the first two pages, couldn't understand any of the bullshit and closed it right back up. And? I think you pointed out one of the great mysteries of the modern comics world. Is he a schizophrenic who just manages to take his meds once or twice a year, or does he have a good writer locked up in his basement?
  23. Yeah, I like the preview a lot, too.
