Ok, so I am practically jumping up and down in glee waiting for Blackest Night. I can't stop reading the build-up books and I'm hypothesizing what happens all the time. Imagine my glee when I come to work and my co-worker tells me about this. That two-page spread has me practically giddy. I warn you, though, don't look too in-depth if you're avoiding spoilers.

When does this story end? I'm waiting impatiently for the trade.

Anyone else read that as, 'Oh shit, we didn't even think about that huge crossover we're doing right now. We should probably talk to someone about that'? This just seems like a money grab to me. I don't see how they had this planned all along and haven't once thought that it might not work.

From the Associated Press I've heard nothing about a split. Most everyone I've talked to things this is a bad idea. After reading this: I feel like Marvel is completely, totally out of touch with their readership.

Wow, those images, those creative teams - I have to have these somehow. There's a brief about these in USA Today today. Not much new information for us, but they revealed that the entire run of Superman "Wednesday Comics" will be included in the USA Today each Wednesday. That's freaking huge.

I thought "Red Robin" was very good. Tim seems a wreck, psychologically and it makes for a good read. Art's solid, too. It's a book I'll definitely be looking for.

And the VHS tapes, and the YouTube clips, and the DVD's, and the... ah, I give up. It is magic, but how powerful is Mephisto? He could take down the Beyonder, if "One More Day" is any indication. If anything, "One Day More" demonstrates that Mephisto is so bored that he's willing to toy with one of Marvel's lower-powered heroes. Maybe it's just an indicator that Marvel needs to consolidate it's Devil analogues into one demonic Super-Conglomerate that can get equal page time as opposed to Dormammu backing The Hood over here then you have Shuma-Gorath over there playing cards with Blackheart and Chthon while Belasco takes teenage girls as apprentices. Seriously, Marvel has way too many Devil's to the point where it's one big fallen angel clusterfuck. No wonder Mephisto can get away with wiping DVRs when the guy living three doors down is also a living personification of evil, you're bound not to notice that you saw Spider-Man take his mask off and then the footage is gone the next day. It's a surprise that they don't all end up on Maury with Damien Hellstorm trying to find out who's his daddy. (Yes, I know it's Satannish but that just proves the demonic super-power quota further.) THAT... was a very impressive rant. And you make a lot of sense.

Copying my thoughts from elsewhere: I totally missed the allusion with "Mr. Toad's Wild Ride" - probably because I was too busy going "Why the fuck is the Batmobile flying?" Are we to assume that Damien at his age is more intelligent than Bruce Wayne and can build this thing all on his own? I'm not taking that leap of faith. I might pick up another issue, but I'm not sure. EDIT: Maybe I should have put this in General Discussion. If so, can a mod move it?

I think you have to have Dick be Batman for the readers to accept him. That photo actually raises a lot of questions for me. 1. When the fuck does Two-Face put on that costume? That's fucking dope. 2. Anyone catch the body in the Wayne Industries crate? What's going on there? 3. IS that Hush with Damien? It just looks creepy. 4. What the hell happened with Tim? He looks pretty quickly recovered from his fight with Jason Todd. And most importantly... 5. Is that Alfred in SAS gear? AWESOME.

Finally got around to reading this. I wish I hadn't. The Danny DeVito thing was so distracting. And, though he was only shown in profile, Two-Face was drawn as Tommy Lee Jones. An artist who uses real people as reference for all characters is a hack. I spent most of the issue trying to figure out who he was trying to draw next. I'm pretty sure the splash page of Catwoman was Audrey Hepburn (though I didn't see a resemblance after that).

Read Blackest Night #0 and it was just freaking great. One question:

Done. As a side note to this, I love how Barbara has been drawn since her crippling. She is, to me, one of the absolute hottest characters in the DCU. I don't remember which BftC book I was reading, but it had her working out and taking a shower and stuff and it was just... great. Maybe it's the redhead freak in me, but I think it's awesome that DC has a handicapped sex symbol. It would be a shame to lose that.

I just found this thread, sorry. I fell out of touch with Earth-2 for a long time not long after it began... I'm really glad I found it again. Congrats, Yoda, and all the writers and contributors, for making this into something great. Also, I don't remember NOT being a geek. I think it had something to do with my massive pile of comics. Yes, pile. We didn't really bag shit in the '80s.

I'm with drq on Dark Avengers #3. Very cool opening. And, yes, the battle sucked. I hate all of Marvel's mystical characters outside of Dr. Doom and maybe - maybe - Doc Strange. Am I alone in that?
