  1. Someone for radio doc class (the same one that produced the content of the latest AP episode) did interviews that were scripted with classmates posing as other people (not allowed to interview classmates, voices were slightly altered, but still noticeable. Of course our instructor did not pick it up (same guy from last years Kellen/Kalen debacle. For the record he still calls me Kalen a lot.
  2. PS3 was a close #9 for me. I wouldn't object to expanding this tournament to a 12 or 16-seeded tournament.
  3. The hotel situation was the only thing that I was worried about, I throw some money at it and now I'm stoked as all hell. Seven weeks to go baby.

    The news thread

I love my universal healthcare. I love the fact that I can get the things that I need when I need them and not run my entire budget out of whack for a year because of it. Governments spend a whole lot of money on things that not everyone likes. That's just a fact and I really don't understand why everyone gets into a hubbub about it. Maybe it's because I've been raised in a "sociallist" province like Manitoba and make no mistake about it, I wave my orange NDP flag and recognize Tommy Douglas as a Canadian legend. That said, my Dad is about as far to the right as I've seen, and he's takes the same stance as me on universal healthcare.
  6. If the was no NES, there would be no N64. Hell, just about every console that has been released post-NES can be traced to the NES. It is the most important gaming system of all time.
  7. Ah... students are fun, aren't they? In my case, if I'm running stuff late, that's my problem. I don't dump it on my instructor (unless mitigating circumstances apply)
  8. There apperently has been a screw-up when it comes to booking out the audio suites at the school here. Now I'm not scheduled to have a suite for another 3 hours (so I'm in "twiddle thumb" mode right now) but if 6PM rolls around and I'm not in a suite, I will be very very angry. I have to finish (and for all intents and purposes, start) a ten-minute radio doc that is due tomorrow. That includes laying down my narration, dropping in my audio clips (which sound so bad quality-wise that I'll be doing a LOT of work on them) getting some good background-music and SFX etc. It's going to be a long night. That said the doc is about Ai-Kon so even if I'm here until the campus closes I'll have some ready-made material for AP.
  9. If not for the comically slow internet connection at my Jr. High, I would not have started getting results from the old rajahwwf.com (it loaded all the results in one page whereas the old WWF site took forever.) If not for Rajah, I would have never found the Oratory If not for the Oratory and it's (for the most part) intelligent discussion, I would have not started an "important video games" thread. If not for that thread, I would not have been scouted for E2 If not for E2, it's possible I would not have made it into my college course (saying I've contributed audio/written content for web since I was 16 was a huge portfolio booster.) Chain Reactions like that are one of the things why life is so fun to live, you don't know what can happen from a simple website recommendation in 8th grade.

Dude, eyes on the road. We want to set a good example for the kids. That and we need someone to listen to the podcasts.
  11. Welp I just made a drastic change to my A-Cen itinerary. I canceled my Super 8 reservation after some online research (I gotta keep remembering thay Winnipeg traffic is not a standard to apply to other cities) and was able to book a hotel within a half a mile of the convention centre. Now I'm walking distance from the con, don't need to worry about that pesky bag situation, don't need to deal with cabs and quite frankly it's a better hotel. Downside is it's going to double my hotel cost, but hell I'm on vacation...that and my tax return is going to work out nicely.
  12. For what it's worth Dubs, I use the term 'bitch' quite liberally. Pretty much when anyone has anything bad to say about anything I call it bitching. ie. I bitch about the entire Pokemon series post-First Generation.
  13. Okay, so Dubs said that if the thread was made he'd weigh in on it, so here it is. Personally, back in the day I was on board with the Sony camp, but realised that there were some things that the N64 had going for it. I recently picked up my first N64 (Pikachu edition) for $65 a couple of weeks ago. My Pros for the N64: -4 Controllers Slots (big deal at the time) -Cartridges=No load times (play some early Saturn/Playstation and tell me you don't want to kill yourself over some of the load times) -Wrestling Games (World tour/Revenge/WM2000/No Mercy were better than anything ever put out.) -First and Second Party awesomeness (Mario 64, Mario Kart 64, Goldeneye, Smash Bros., Zelda, Pokemon etc.) My Cons for the N64: -Cartridge=High cost, lack of space. That's really all I got for cons on the N64. I can't even reall bemoan the 2-title launch set because Mario 64 was such a leap forward in gaming (I'd probably put it as one of the 5 most important games ever made) that it kept many entertained until more games started filtering down. Dubs, I await your rebuttal.
  14. All divided by denomination as per your request.
  15. Dubs you can't leave us hanging on that. C'mon we'll be nice. EDIT: Of course you tell the story as I post this one.

Fuck, that means that that's on the way to Ohio. Damn, was so looking forward to getting to wear shorts another couple of days. Pussies.
  17. I'm assuming you mean "enjoy this moment more"? Indeed. Was a great night (short of the Moose losing a heartbreaker.
  18. I'm on E2 while chilling out in the press box of the MTS Centre covering a hockey game while enjoying free Popcorn and soda. There are very few things that could make me enjoy this moment.
  19. Here's the way naming goes in monarchy. -The successive monarch is to be the first born son, if the monarchy produces no male heirs then the first born daughter will become the monarch -If a man becomes monarch he is the king, his wife will become queen. -If a woman becomes monarch she is the queen, her husband will become a prince. Modern Day Example: Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Phillip of The British Empire.
  20. Is this all "headshots" or just unprotected ones, I really don't mind having the guys get the hands up to block it. Hell have the announcer cover by saying "he tried protecting himself, but the damage was done." There I just eliminated needless concussions without the loss of a classic staple of wrestling.
  21. The definition of a minor annoyance. I shaved, I applied aftershave, after washing my hands I rubbed my itchy eye, apperently there was still some aftershave. Now by right eye is tearing up and feel cold as hell.

My 10 year old cousin is currently attending public school in Texas. When he comes back up here, he's getting supplementary lessons. This is folk music, many great Canadians like Neil Young and Great Big Sea are known for their folk music. One of the best genres ever. This is Tommy Douglas, the greatest Canadian to ever live, he invented universal health care. You know that H1N1 shot Mommy paid so much to get you? Well me, your cousins Nolan and Brett, uncle Dave and aunt Tannis all got it for free thanks to Mr. Douglas. This is Pierre Elliot Trudeau, the greatest Prime Minister we ever had, he did some pretty crazy things that could get the job done, don't believe it? Well, just watch him.

I can see the Red River from my house, kinda cool seeing the broken ice floes drifting along.
