  1. First good news of the new year, I guess. I'm getting probably about 12 hours a week with my anthropology department assistant job, and now I'm doing group tutoring for some foreign exchange students, and just had some kid (who, with my luck, is going to be a football/frat moron) ask for tutoring for a class five days a week, which means I might be getting close to twenty hours a week. *dance dance dance!*
  2. I saw it in 2D twice, and I don't feel like I missed anything. Might've been neat in the scenes where they were in the tree or falling or shit, but it's not absolutely necessary to see it.

DVD sets for a lot of those are fairly cheap at the moment at Best Buy, I don't know if that's still true, but hey, if I can pay $37 for a whole season (which was split in two because one half was produced before the writer's strike, otherwise this would've been like purchasing two whole seasons) where it would've normally cost me about a hundred, that's pretty damn good. That, or they're available pretty readily online for not a lot of space. But you didn't hear that from me. Here, have some puppy cuteness! Her best "why you wake me up?" face Sleeping And the bizzare positions that can happen during the former. What're you doing with that thing? (Apologies for puppy spam. I'm missing her. Really badly. And apparently she is too, so.)
  4. Well, there you go. (Haven't read it, but from the description, that was my guess.)
  5. Question RE: The brunette in Willow. Did she look like this? Cause if she does, that's Tara, Willow's dead lover.

I mainly go for sour and chewy in my candy choice (Sour Punch Straws, Sour Patch Kids), with anything from Wonka and the occasional Dove to supplement. Oh, and Jelly Bellies. Gotta love it. Now watch it while you've got Caramelldansen on in the background.

I've got blue raspberry Sour Punch Straws (I didn't even know there were places that made 'em anymore!) today. Puckers so good. Raspberry Smirnoff Ice to top off the first day of classes is also so good. (And yes, it's a girly drink, I'm a girl, shut it.)

My classes this term should be pretty fun. In reverse order, the class I have at noon-thirty covers the history of Imperial Russia, biology course at nine-fifty (or from one to four for lab, depending on the day) that I don't really care that much about but the prof is pretty fun, and an eight-thirty for which I will be reading a book on Brazilian transgender prostitutes, the cover of which may make a few of you question your sexuality (or at least the binary system that you may think in).
  10. Beginning a rewatch of BSG Season 4 (horray for season sets!) with the unrated version of Razor that comes with Season 4. I remember not thinking much of this, we'll see how it holds up to a rewatch, especially knowing how everything ends.
  11. It's definitely on my radar; dates? And pre-reg info? It all depends on how quickly I can make the $ to pay tuition for spring term. Also, will definitely be at ACen.

Random heads-up: Best Buy is doing a special on season sets of TV shows for less than twenty dollars a season; I just got 4.0 and 4.5 of BSG for thirty-seven total (with tax); normally, that would've been close to a hundred.
  13. Watching Star Trek with the family tonight with pizza. This should be good.
  14. Thanks, all. I feel like I want to melt into the floor. And hopefully that's not because I'm sick. Second littlest sister threw up during the middle of Avatar today, so embarrasing. And now third littlest sister just threw up. So, that either means it skips me, or I'm next up. Whee.

    Happy New Year!

Happy New Year's, all. Spent it in Madison getting drunk out of my head till about four in the morning. And I was fine to drive back about an hour ago. ^^
  16. Saw the preview for the fourth Shrek today while at Avatar, it made me laugh a little bit. Will probably end up going to see it with the family or something along those lines. Also saw the preview for Prince of Persia. Looks like good mindless summer eye candy.
  17. Went and saw this tonight with my mom. I can honestly say that I was not expecting to like this as much as I did. Those three hours flew by in a flash. The CG in this is absofuckinglutely spectacular, not to mention wonderful in its creativity and the way it was used to build the world. One of the exchanges between me and my mom went something like this: Mom: Oh, that's so pretty! Me: I wonder how it's going to try and kill them? Kind of struck a hard chord with me, what with training to be an anthropologist and this kind of reminding me of some of the kind of awful things the gov has used anthropologists to do (this being a textbook situation). (Also, the sex scene made me feel like I was almost watching furry porn.) In short, going to try and see it again this weekend with my dad.
  18. Happy birthday, Koete! ...Holy shit, you're younger than I am?
  19. Hearing your parents fight and accuse each other of cheating on Christmas Day night and having to take the girls downstairs so that they don't have to hear that shit? Oh, that's real fun. Add in money crunches on both my parents' end because of both cars either going in a ditch or breaking down five days after we just got it fixed delaying Christmas, and on my end because the holiday job I got never gave me hours and only being able to work three shifts with the seasonal job and having not been paid since late November, along with the youngest girl being at everyone's throat and everyone being really tense with each other, and it's been real peachy around here. And then today, the younger girls were asking why we've never met Mom's side of the family, and it finally came out to them that Mom was , and lots of crying. On the other hand, horray, I'm going back to school on Sunday and can at least get away from this shit! (And I feel horrible for saying that now too.) EDIT: And now I just read the posts above me and I'm sorry if I seem like I'm trying to top anyone in terms of life-shitiness.
  20. From what I can tell, most of this is probably going to be focusing around stealing the idea or a start of an idea in a guy's mind, and Ellen Page might be playing the personification of the idea (just a wild guess). Some very Batman-film-esque moments in there. Looks intriguing, but I think I'll wait for more info.
  21. First off, looking forward to hearing from you two on these. For me, I'd love to see the following covered: -The Boondock Saints -Up -Wall-E -300 -Moulin Rouge (preferably with a drinking game involved for your sanity) -Pan's Labyrinth (if it hasn't already been covered) -Zack and Miri Make a Porno -Any Tarantino movies -V for Vendetta -Any of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies -Juno -Little Miss Sunshine And maybe have something every once in a while where you go out to theatres to see something?
  22. He seems to be about half and half in terms of hits/misses. He's got some really good stuff on there, most notably for me, October Sky. But, at the same time, he's also got some really strong misses (Jurassic Park III, Pagemaster (the live action sequences), which makes me a bit edgy.
  23. ...I don't really see how you could do a follow-up to that plot-wise, but whatever. If there's a sequel, I'd probably watch it.
  24. Showed Dad Inglourious Basterds tonight, he said he'd need to see it again to see if he liked it. That has to be a good sign, right? Also, it's better than I remembered. ^^
