  1. I'm imagining that all the tech got scrapped because they mentioned early on in BSG that Cylons could hack into it and mess things up; thus, the Galactica and all of its antiquated systems. I'm kind of eh about this; interested to see where it could go, but not overwhelmed by what I saw. Liked a lot of the existential stuff with Zoe and Adama's daughter's avatars. (I can't feel my heart beat, Daddy!) Dislike that Moore's bringing out what got hammered into us in the season finale, but maybe that'll lessen.
  2. Bad marketing assumption. They're trying to bait the fanboys back, but they're assuming that anyone would want to see it more than once.
  3. EDIT: Apparently Preston and I posted at the same time. Lulz. But, yeah, apparently :urock:
  4. Hah. You wouldn't want to be out here Trivia Weekend, then; "Africa" is the Trivia theme song, and I know there's at least one hour where it loops nonstop.
  5. Green Lantern, Avengers, Savage Dragon, and DC Kids, prolly. Heading over there early so that I'm sure to get it. And I'll probably buy Dark Reign: Cabal, too.
  6. Hah, my rules are every time there's a song you recognize or the main character's emo or you feel like you're in ADD the Musical. Was going to add every time someone should've gotten off of Satine, but that would've pushed it too far. xD
  7. Marie Antoinette and Moulin Rouge. They're both exceedingly pretty, one has a good soundtrack, the other is just made of crack, and both make wonderful drinking games.
  8. Uhm, a lot of stuff happens, and it's set up for the big stuff that's happening this next month. I'd say flip through it, then decide if you want to buy.
  9. Green Lantern #40: ...I clearly need to stop liking characters. Because every character I end up liking, even if they're passing characters, die. oO Lots of revelation makes the mechanics of the Orange ring and how the Corps is what it is. Looking forward to the fight next month. Secret Six #6: 666. Lulz. Scandal and Jeanette continue to be made of goddamn amazing, especially with Jeanette's backstory. The random appearance of Scar didn't really make sense, but it provided nice background and setup. Secret Six #8: They changed artists this month, and it shows. Art isn't as good as it's been in previous months, and was kind of a turn off; however, Scott and Hazlewood are back next month, thank God. A nice little sidestory; double date with Scandal and Liana and Jeanette and Blake, and it's a fun little side story. Also, Insignificus is made of awesome. Fun Tiny Titans shoutout with Ragdoll's dream. Power Girl backup in this, too, it's annoying and needs to go away. Thunderbolts #131: Last part of the Magnum Opus arc, my first real encounter with the series. I like the art style. Most of the book is a big fight scene with banter from Deadpool and Taskmaster, nothing too extraordinary. However, the last few pages of the book are pretty well done, and have Deadpool having his comedic timing at its best. Comic Books: 39 TPBs: 19 Graphic Novels: 2 Motion Comic: 1
  10. Yeah, you can all gut me now.
  11. There's a reason all the deaths for people around our age have been in Mexico.
  12. The only place it's going to kill is where people don't have decent hygiene or have godawful health care. You'll be fine.
  13. Flu normally kills kids and the elderly, they've got the weakest immune systems. You only have to start worrying if it kills people in their prime (late teens to early 30s) like it did in Mexico, because flu doesn't normally do that. Regardless, please to not be getting sick, peoples.
  14. Merg. It's not been fatal in the US so far, so so long as it doesn't start killing people in their teenage and 20s/30s here, we have nothing to worry about. There are several reasons it got so bad in Mexico, and they're kind of horrible for me to say, so I won't. Also, yeah, something's definitely wrong with either my power cord or the port it plugs into. Need to do a test with someone else's power cord.
  15. All the books I need to do my research for my ethnography have been checked out by professors. :/
  16. Looking forward to seeing Preston's stuff, and awesome stuff, drq. You've pretty much set me on getting the first Walking Dead trade (they've got it out at Powerhouse) the first week I find any monthlies I don't want to pick up. Also, possibly the most positive IIWY in the history of evar? xD
  17. Japanese class this year has been an exercise in frustration. Our teacher is fresh out of either grad school, or undergrad, not sure which. He expects us to learn all the grammar points and be able to do homework on them before we come into class, which is, to say the least, incredibly irritating. (Not to mention the times he expects us to do homework for grammar points we won't be covering until four or so days later, which is the equivalent of two class sessions with him.) It also reduces class to what he expects to be a review session, but is, for us, actually trying to understand how the hell the grammar actually works. It also messes with our ability to get halfway decent grades on the homework assignments, as nine times out of ten, we don't understand what we're doing. This part of the class is the Monday/Wednesday/Friday session. The drill sessions that happen on the morning on Tuesday/Thursdays used to be useful. The TA would go over the homework with us and at least try to help us understand it, and, in addition, do the occasional dialogue drill and review for review tests. This term, though, he's having us turn in homework MWF and taken away the dialogue drills, which makes these 8:30 drill sessions more or less another a repeat of everything we did in class the day before, and takes away most of my motivation to go to them. He only just recently made attending these sessions part of the attendance grade, so I actually have to go, but most of us aren't awake or are just irritated at the fact of how useless this part of the class has become. I and others have made complaints about the way that the class is taught on the teacher feedback forms we have to fill out every term, but there's been little to no change in how the class is taught, and it's pretty much sucking all of my motivation to continue in the sequence. There admittedly is only one more official class (because we share a department with Chinese, and the head of the department is ethnically Chinese and has sworn that as long as he's head, there will never be a Japanese major), but that's probably going to be taught by him. I just have to be able to get through that, though, and I can schedule tutorials with the other Japanese teacher in order to prepare to go to Japan for my fall term senior year. But, yeah. Teachers who don't actually teach are incredibly irritating.
  18. I like the outfit. Don't necessarily like the person in it, but hey. Also, speaking of Jonah Hex, how difficult would it for me to pick up the run where it is currently?
  19. This is possibly the worst thought out solution in history. So, Sylar slit Nathan's throat, and he is le dead. They incapacitate him through Peter picking up the shapeshifting power and tranqing him. Angela's been having dreams of Matt saving Nathan, and chooses to interpret this as using Matt (with Noah's backing) to alter the very core of Sylar's thoughts, making him think that "Sylar" is dead, and that he is Nathan. But, as evidenced in the Volume Five preview, bits of Sylar's personality stick, and makes me think that he's probably going to come back. Also, WTF is up with Hiro 's random brain damage? They only touch on it briefly, and then wave it off like oh, he'll never try to stop time again (and if you think that, your writing is bad and you should feel bad). Also, why would it only be taking effect now, after Matt Jr started his powers back up? Also, Sylar/Claire was incredibly creepy. The end.
  20. I get monthlies of GL, Secret Six, and Deadpool. I might flip through some stuff if it intrigues me, but usually, if I can't find anything weekly or in the back issues, I'll end up getting a trade. Softcover. It's cheaper and fits easier on my shelves.
  21. Battlestar Galactica: Humanity does not deserve to be saved. Let us show you why.
  22. Or, more appropriately: THIS IS SPARTAAAAA!! So, how you splitting the cash?
  23. ...Do I even want to know how this happened? Either way, just be sure to ice it and don't use it for a while. Also, stop breaking yourself, Preston. xD Okay, my power cord's been acting weird since we got up to Bjorklunden, and only on certain plugs, so I'm not sure what to make of this. On plugs on the upper floor, I've been having to manipulate the power cord so that it actually charges, and then after it's fully charged, it stops getting input and power will start draining again, and I'll have to reposition the angle of the cord so that it recognizes that yes, it should be charging it. However, on the lower floor, it's been charging and retaining charge. And I didn't have issues with it before I got here. So, going to go home, plug in, and see what happens; if it charges and retains charge, I know I have nothing to worry about. If not, time to look at how much a new Mac power cord would cost.
