  1. Hopefully it's the darker future revamp where Johnny is strung out and deeply haunted by the neglectful abuse of his father.
  2. Heathers for Hey! An Actor Started off absolutely loathing it and ended up enjoying it quite a bit. One of the darkest things I've seen in long while, coupled with the fact that so much of the heavy subject matter has come to life in the years between the release of this film and today. Very good screenplay by Daniel Waters, with the dialogue being both theatrical and simultaneously believable. I also thought Winona Ryder was really really good in this. Only thing that was throwing me off were those massive shoulders everyone was sporting with that damned 80s fashion.
  3. Around that time I would agree. Sensational dealt with Mary Jane and Aunt May's perspective during the crossovers, and had that great issue of Liz Allen confronting Peter during Back in Black. There was also a killer Eddie Brock story, best in years.
  4. Poor woman. I never knew about the alcoholism. I quite like the second costume she had, but the vol.2 Frank Cho covers kind of necessitate the change.
  5. Oh most certainly. I like it as a fun romp, but it's not the most brilliant story ever told. And yet it's getting a second Absolute edition. It kind of presaged the Didio/Lee era of Batman and by extension DC Comics.
  6. Ultimates 3...THE HELL WAS THAT?! There must be an explanation for that shit...there must.
  7. I rewound that opening scene with Barry and Wells/Thawne like three or four times
  8. Best comic book live action show ever confirmed. I haven't enjoyed television like this in YEARS. I loved everything about the finale, and the final ten minutes had me fist-pumping like crazy. I hope we see Tom Cavanaugh again, this was his best performance by far.
  9. The Ultimates vol.2, or Ultimates 2. A more engaging story this time 'round once all the characters have now been introduced. An intense conflict that makes the Avengers movie final battle look like Candyland, although it gets too satisfied with the comic-bookyness of itself by the end. Art was terrific as always. Overall it was better than the previous volume, either because I'm used to the general awfulness of the characters or that the story was written better. Speaking of Ultimate Spider-Man...USM vol.15 by Bendis and Bagley. May've said before in this thread but while I collected USM religiously, I dropped off after a while because every story seemed to end with Peter getting beaten up, unmasked and humiliated without fail. The Electra fight, much as I love Electra, broke me. But re-reading the Hobgoblin story reminded me why this series was and remains the best Ultimate book. Unlike virtually every other Ultimate iteration, you genuinely feel for Peter Parker and are invested in his world. Plus the morality is a lot easier to take in.
  10. The Ultimates vol.1 An engaging yet nearly irritating take on the Avengers. The Bryan Hitch artwork is nice but the Millar characterization is a frustrating pill to swallow, mainly because the pop culture references permeate the series. The second half of issue #4 cannot go a single page without name dropping a celebrity. There's literally three pages dedicated to the Ultimates fan-casting each other, followed by a scene of Betty Ross on a date with Freddie Prinze Jr. Hulk is super horny, Hank Pym is a fucking sadist with a history of abusing Jan because apparently that couldn't have been left alone, Cap is a parody and Jan's propensity to shrink causes her to be naked for a fourth of the series. The prospect of Hulk eating a guy is a turn-on for Betty and...ugh, this was bad. Kind of a trainwreck bad in that I couldn't look away but still very annoying. At least now I know the context for the "doesn't stand for France" quote. I did like Thor and surprisingly Iron Man tho. I expected Tony to be Turbo-Douche the whole time and that never happened.
  11. The HISHE guys have yet to fail in delivering the lulz
  12. I quite enjoy the 60s Fantastic Four theme. It feels so period, it's awesome.
  13. Captain America: The Winter Soldier Complete Collection Good stuff. Very good stuff. Very engaging, and the whole mystery of Buck's presumed death was written in a great way. I like that a lot of the old school mythos was retconned to actually not have happened, like Bucky just happening upon Steve changing in a tent, and Bucky being a smidge older than his legacy makes one think. This also made me research exactly how many Caps and Buckys there were between the originals going into ice and Steve returning in Avengers #4. Makes me laugh that there were like 3 of them. Poor Jack Monroe. I couldn't help but be reminded of Under the Red Hood whilst reading it tho. I remember this coming out around the time of that, wasn't it in the same year?
  14. I've heard tons about this movie in the past 12 hours, first chance I get I'm gonna give it a look-see. I've not seen the other Mad Max movies before tho, would that matter?
  15. My brother felt very similar when we watched "The People vs. George Lucas". By the time we got to the Han Shot First, he couldn't stand what he was seeing.
  16. A touch more "Casey Jones" than I anticipated, but I likes it.
  17. I was rooting for the other guy. I want my Peter Parkers to actually resemble Peter Parker. Hope he does well with the role nevertheless.
  18. The one thing that is looking legitimately terrible is the flying effects. Like, something out of a Channel Awesome video or something. Lois and Clark had better effects 20 years ago. Is this the first superhero show CBS has had since Spider-Man and the Incredible Hulk?
  19. The one-shot kill would be if Dan Castlenetta ever walked. Both he and Hank Azaria voiced IMO most of the funnier characters. But we're losing Burns, Flanders, Skinner, Hibbert and Lovejoy, among many others. It's a big hit. If anyone was going to go, it's not surprising that it's Shearer. He's been the most vocal about problems he's had with the show and its quality for the past decade, and even before then. He openly disdains some episodes like the baseball one from season four, and of course the Armin Tamzarian one from season 9.
  20. Not surprised. I mean they cancelled the Fantastic Four comic over this shit right?
  21. Nah, I dropped the new 52 during Zero Year. Not saying that or Snyder's Batman sucked, but my heart wasn't in the current stuff anymore. Still isn't really.
  22. I would love to see Hal Jordan show up, and Barry and Ollie argue over which is his best friend.
