RSS Posted August 16, 2020 Report Posted August 16, 2020 Data discovers he has a brother, and said brother wants to kill Wesley so badly ("Datalore"). Then, middle-age men discuss an episode about feminism written and directed by middle-age men ("Angel One"). Note: Please pardon the audio issues. [ 1:57:13 || 56.7 MB ] Quote
Davedevil Posted August 16, 2020 Report Posted August 16, 2020 I was aware of "Are you prepared for the kind of death you've earned, little man?" through memes, but had no idea it came from TNG or Star Trek in general. Imagine me losing my mind when that scene popped up. Quote
You Know Who Posted August 16, 2020 Report Posted August 16, 2020 Great episode guys! I meant to write in but was too busy/lazy to finish the email. Only have a few thoughts to add: Oy! Lay off Jake Sisko! (Fashion aside) and Riker Shag Count: 1 Next time on The Edge of Forever — Douchey Admiral Count: 1 Quote
Missy Posted August 16, 2020 Report Posted August 16, 2020 Let's see, the Shag Count to date is: Yar: 1 (The Naked Now, with Data) Data: 1 (The Naked Now, with Yar) Troi: 1 (Haven, with Wyatt) Riker: 1 (Angel One, with Beata) Not counted, whatever happened on Rubicun III before the beginning of Justice. Off the top my head, I believe Geordi is the only main cast member to have a Shag Count of zero over all seven seasons. Quote

Missy Posted August 16, 2020 Report Posted August 16, 2020 Nah, that's masturbation. Plus it's unclear how far Geordi took the simulation. Quote

Missy Posted August 17, 2020 Report Posted August 17, 2020 Oh, shit! Sorry for the spoiler! All I'll say is he goes on a few dates, but he's never comfortable around women he's romantically interested in. And then there's a thing that will be discussed, because it was creepy then and is triply so now. Quote
Donomark Posted August 17, 2020 Report Posted August 17, 2020 LOL no worries, I'm not sweating being spoiled, I just find that outrageous! Not even in the movies? Quote
Missy Posted August 17, 2020 Report Posted August 17, 2020 Nope, not even in the movies. In those I think it's only Picard, Riker, and Troi. Quote
dc20willsave Posted August 19, 2020 Report Posted August 19, 2020 Honestly? As a kid that grew up with Reading Rainbow and would likely react like Troy if I ever met LeVar Burton, Geordi staying largely chaste doesn't bother me as much as it should considering how much everyone else in this and further Trek series get down. Missy Posted August 19, 2020 Report Posted August 19, 2020 Voyager and Enterprise and blind spots for me when it comes to Shag Counts, but I can say DS9 is horny AF. Main Cast Sisko: A-yup. Kira: Hell yeah. Odo: Totally and pan. Quark: WITH A KLINGON! This man knows and loves pain. 😉 Bashir: Duh! And so bi. So so bi! Jadzia: Pan, and yeah. Gets down all the time! Even with her ex, both of whom have changed genders since. Ezri: Reserved, but she knows what's up. Also pan. Worf: He got his dick broke on the show. O'Brien: Almost too busy to have some fun, but he and Keiko got two kids. So oh yeah. Also: He almost has an affair! Others Jake: Maybe. He's a kid for most of the show, so it's hard to tell. He nearly has an affair with someone, but it's so sexually abusive. Nog: Nah, like Geordi he's career-focused. Rom: Hello, nurse! Leeta: See Rom. Kasidy: See Sisko. Garak: Never on the show, but absolutely pan. Dukat: Groomer. Quote

Sure, same, but as an adult and particularly someone who naturally relates to the geeky token black guy on the ship, I'm just imagining him as the "This is Fine" dog, only the surrounding fire is a bacchanalia of Space Orgies. That is so not fair. Quote

S-T Posted August 23, 2020 Report Posted August 23, 2020 Contrary to @Dan, I like Jake Sisko. It helps that Benjamin Sisko is my favorite Star Trek captain. When he punched Q in the face was one of my favorite moments in any of the shows and movies. Quote

SteveJRogers Posted August 29, 2020 Report Posted August 29, 2020 I’m in the pro-Jake camp as well. It helps that he had no interest in Star Fleet, and was never portrayed as a Mary-Sue like character, much the opposite over the years actually. It probably also helped that Cirroc Lofton was young enough early on that rules dictated that he couldn’t be used all that often, so in the first few seasons he was rarely seen and/or used as a central part to one of big storylines of an episode. Plus he has his own DS9 rewatch podcast! Quote
