Analysis of Kevin Smith's The Widening Gyre

Don't read this if you don't want Smith to retcon Year One in a way that completely fucking ruins one of that books best moments.

I'm so glad I didn't buy this. Smith's last run on a Batman mini was enough to make me think he's completely forgotten how to write comics in ANY way. The drop-off in his writing skills is significantly greater than Jeph Loeb's even.

Everyone needs to know the origins of Widening Gyre. After "Zack And Miri Make a Porno" under-preformed at the box office, Smith got really depressed, and started smoking inhuman amounts of weed. After getting ridiculously blazed, he'd work on Widening Gyre. Does that make it a good comic? Fuck no. But I'm interested to see the trainwreck he trots out after "Cop-Out."

But, Zach and Miri was average, and slightly generic. It had Seth Rogen, playing Seth Rogen, which by that point, had gotten annoying.

I don't think WG sold well anyway.
