  1. The original Defenders reform, or try to. screw Hellstrom, gargoyle, valkyrie, and all those other B teamers, Doctor Strange searches out Bruce Banner, Namor, and the Silver Surfer to battle a threat that, ummm, threatens life as they know it. Of course things go poorly, Silver Surfer declines (in hilarious fashion), and both Bruce Banner and Namor have severe odor problems. I'm gonna try not to give anything away but this book is AWESOME. I beg someone to go out and read it so I can ramble on with them. BEG!! If you like satire or parody, this is your book. I pours a sense of reality and absurdity on over-the-top characters. It's the best single issue I've read since New Warriors 2 (of 5). Sure that was only a week ago but that is not the point. I'll rant on New Warriors when I get issue 3. The Defenders Miniseries' first ish: As many astral thumbs up as I can muster
  2. I figure I have no reason not to invite ya'll to search me out if you play WCIII:FT. Its the game I've been playing most recently since i've only seriously played it for like 3 or 4 months now. My tag is DeeTroyt and I usually spend limbo in channel FI feel free to hunt me down on battlenet or chuck out some info of your own if you evah wanna throw-down or team up
  3. wow, how long did it take you to research that. I know for a FACT you did not know most of the references you just made until at earliest last week. Nerd. I have to give it to Doom though. His biggest weakness eminates from his feud with Reed. He's a super competent guy and in a pinch could find some way to distract Sue enough to keep her from running at full power. By your logic, the "person A can beat anyone by doing action B," Sue could beat anyone by just completely shielding herself and pressing forth from there. That's just simply not how battles go down. Iceman could beat anyone by freeze-drying everything leading to the brain, dead. Pheonix can... eat your world. FF as a team are enemies of Doom because one on one they are going to have problems. Marvel hypes the FF that way. One on One, Doom vs. Sue, There could always be the upset, but I gotta go 80-20 for Victory Von Doom
  4. I'm eagerly awaiting the Green Lantern release, though it could be out without my knowledge since I wouldn't buy it until I can get to Comics MD and greet my F.I.natics Though it does appear they have already started altering rules by giving characters permanant attributes like "willpower" and "stealth" stuff like that, that is reference by other cards so that it only effects, or ignores specific characters. If it keeps up I will prolly be done with this game post GL, much like I ended Heroclix with Poison Ivy.

I really hope Mimic kicks. They've already gotten rid of Blink once, they almost got rid of Morph a couple times, and ever since the beginning of the book Mimic has been the strength of the team. His status dipped a little bit when the team was seperated and there was the whole brood thing but again, shortly afterward, was back in his role. He isn't the leader but he's the Peter to the Exile's Jesus (BIBLICAL ALLUSION). So if they are making the worst of a good situation (failing miserably when in control) what better way to keep things shaken then by eliminating the only constant of the team.
  6. Exactly The Steve. Controlling a kid in that respect is completely possible. There have been many times I've had to turn off TV shows because a kid much younger than me informs me that their parents don't let them watch a show. Rugrats is always the example that stands out in my mind. yeah it is a kid show but it really did a terrible job in the educational and manners teaching side of things. Make a point to get involved and it will work on at least some level. In the same way, if you ever watch your kid play games you are bound to find them playing something in poor choice, if they play games in poor choice, so if your suggestions fail you can then enforce.
  7. Big Thumbs Up for this ish, with the recommendation of getting issue 83 as well. Common with the House of M, mutants are ruling the world and there seems to be one man stronger than the mutants, Hulk. They really try to play it up that the Hulk is the only feared human. As such they also very much put the Hulk into a position of power by hinting very early on (in 83) that Banner is aware that the world is not in its proper place. Banner, happier than he can ever remember being, is living Down Under with a tribe of Aborigines that Big Magnus himself has advised mutant activity to avoid. A certain govenor in Magneto's ranks fails to uphold this command, takes many casualities, yet remains arrogant. When what was planned to be a peaceful confrontation, violence ensues and the Humans deal a large blow to the mutant world-wide empire. If anyone has read this book I would love to chat more specifics about it. If no one has, yet you want to follow House of M or want a new good book to pick up, Hulk has been consistantly good pretty much ever since Bruce Jones gave it life again maybe four years ago. Looking for something good to read in general, pick up the TPBs of his stuff on Hulk.
  8. I assume you are talking about their claim that the content was created on by the fans instead of merely unlocked. That is indeed extremely reprehensible and downright stupid. I guess they just tried covering their asses without thinking it through that it is extremely easy to find out where the content originates from. It will probably create a wave that gets gamemakers to actually remove unused content from disk since, as they said, it is common practice to not clear off that room if you don't need the extra space
  9. I really hope it does even if only for the fact that it is outsiders entering Nintendo's realm. Opens the door for more. The touch screen could probably work really well for this game as far as guiding where Prince is in relation to his ball'o'stuff. If I wanted or was on edge about a DS I would be absolutely getting one if katamari DS pulled through. Last I heard about its progress begins and ends with the announcement earlier in the year. not really a good sign i suppose. F.i.
  10. Good. Can't say I disagree especially when considering the whole sex scandal associated with it. I personally feel like they are pretty tight with the AO rating and that alot more titles fit into that category. Maybe this will open the door for a more accurate rating system in turn nullifying some arguements about "video games are only for kids and thus..." Kudos to esrb for stepping up I suppose
  11. though not the best performer, he has always been one of the more fun actors to watch on the show. He always made his part entertaining.
  12. I almost feel like this should end with a plug for Nintendo, especially since i'm a complete nintendo whore. And of course, in my mass experience with kids, that's the type of parent who tends to get the rowdy kid and blames it on whatever medium is handy. That is the type of woman I expect saying the quote I picked out. Points for optimism: Mad props to the clerk who tried to express his opinion.
  13. “It's impossible as a parent to keep up,” she says I don't really know how much becomes too much in the cursing stance of this board so I will leave my response to that quote as Bull$$$$. The kids young enough that you should actually be weary of what they're simply do not have the resources to acquire these games or any game w/o the parent. A 9 yearold shouldn't be buying much of anything without a parent's awareness. As far as keeping up goes, its as easy as the rating system or a quick research into the game. And if that is too much trouble then the parent has priority issues and there is part of the real problem with the kid. Once they are old enough to go out and buy and play these games w/o parent assistance/knowledge then I don't think impact on the kid is going to be harmful, assuming they were raised anything but super poorly. My stance F.i.
  14. I agree that Terry wouldn't actually exist, but if the cause of the "meeting the successor" is meeting the future Batman instead of a current character potentially taking his place. It would be a much more successful idea than using current character since there is pretty much no way anyone will actually be replacing bruce at this time. They will need a back door to back out of the "promise" that they would lose if they were to expose someone like Dick to be the next Bat, since, despite his capable to take the mantle at this time, he is simply not going to for the reasons you stated. So until i'm completely disappointed with how it turns out, i will dare to dream... i'm gonna go watch some beyond eps now. F.i.
  15. it is pretty rewangulous that they are doing this but I do have enough faith in the people greenlighting this that they may make it good enough to not cry Campbell Raimi and crew do enough entertaining things (whether they can be considered good or not) that I'm sure it will atleast be entertaining. I mean, comon, Man with the Screaming Brain, Alien Apocolypse. all fun
  16. I care enough to have heard rumors and expect to atleast check it out and see how it goes. However, I don't herald it as much as most my friends who are familiar with it do, so it will really have to be something good to keep my attention. How much do you know about what they plan on doing with the remaking, change-wise or style/tone wise
  17. Depending how much faith you have in the boardmembers, you could try to have the vote be relative to each villain/hero. That way you could actually contest whether or not a Lex Luthor vs Juggs fight would end in a Luthor stained carpet. As The Steve has stated, if you give Luthor all his resources, and Juggs would no longer be the odds on favorite. Allowing things to be relative could create the Triangles that make tourneys and seedings fun. Say for example Juggs would beat Joker there is nothing he can really do to hurt Juggs, Luthor would beat Juggs following Steve's precedent, but Joker would be Luthor since Joker may be savvy enough to work through Luthor's network. so if you want to run a tournament of that magnitude, how much faith do you have in this community to get it right?
  18. the finals in general of this contest confuse me. Batman obviously wins by popularity in the end, but to get there, Jean doesn't strike me as popular enough a character to go even that far. I guess it was just the right mix of people taking it seriously and people, well, not knowing what the hell they are talking about, to make the contest choc full of illogical.

    Who's smarter?

ouch Steve, got many bones to pick with you 1. Shaving his Chrome Dome is by far NOT the most dangerous thing he does... he doesn't have to shave it. It is that way without the assistance of a razor. 2. I'm pretty sure he doesn't get a full nights rest all the time. He seems to have been locked into thinker mode at night, often times opting out of sleep to help advance his plots or techno-gizmos. And 3. Have you seen his supervillian costume. Anyone wearing that atrocity absolutely cannot be in the run for smartest man. the only saving grace is that it is mostly green. mostly. Gawd, what is wrong with you. which brings me to point 4. Yeah, it's Lex. amusing anecdotes aside, Lex is the Doom of DC. If Lex took over the world we would prolly be better off. He would do a phenomal job as leader, scientific advancement would boom, worldwide problems would be solved. It is what he does. They are completely different kinds of smart, Batman and Luthor. But Batman is smalltime compared to Luthor. As a citizen you would be faced with the Watchman dilemma once Luthor took over, yeah he's vile, yeah he used underhanded methods, but ummm, the world is better off for it. Before Superman: Red Son came out I had this vision of Luthor (which paralleled my vision of Von Doom) that if he beat Superman, Batman, and whoever else lines up against him, world citizens would ultimately be more content than ever once he starts his reign. Philosophically, this contentness is the most important thing for me so I would give the smarter man title to the one I feel is most capable of using his brain to give that to the world. Batman has a moral compass that Luthor doesn't have, which is an advantage to Luthor in this arguement. But even if Batman didn't have that guide, I don't think he would be able to accomplish what Luthor could.

Do I get to claim responsibility for hooking you on that book by getting the the first forty or so issues circulating through the Seven Card Studs. I do have to say I much liked the earlier books better than the recent. You got more of the feeling that anything could happen. No matter what attachment there is. Of course they were also Judd Winick and he is a writing STAR to me. Much like TheSteve points out they no longer seem to have the guts to kill people off as well as they bring back people who have been in and out of the tales. They explain it all find and dandy, but that doesn't take from the overall tooliness of it. Still since it is just getting started in a new direction it may be a good time for new people to pick it up, or leach on someone who does already, or better yet get someone to start buying it so you can leach on them. Hopefully the new direction will be good despite my mild concerns.
  21. Mutopia X was pretty lame. Nothing important seemed to occur and nothing was explained/explored that hasn't been made obvious elsewhere. I will prolly sucker out and grab the next ish since they do atleast set it up to take a different direction than other books. Human vs Human conflict. The Hulk was really good though. I will definately get the next ish of that. He seems to be one of the few humans who are feared (by mutants). In the M, he is very much still at odds with his alter ego but also very much at peace with it. They use the term happiness to explain both what is right with the world and why it is wrong. very yin yang without the yang. F.i.
  22. was this a full on comic ish type thing, or a short, collection of shorts? basically, did his work fit the mold of what would be released as a comic today or since it was a heroes for hope thing, was the format much different than the average comic?
  23. the biggest reason i would want to see Dick turn down the offer is simply because he would become the same batman. The character of Dick would cease to exist and it would be like nothing has changed except that Batman wears a new mask (w/ the whole Bruce is batman's mask thing) When they tried to give it to Azrael they were on the right track, changing Batman so that the change in character behind the cowl means something. It is why there can be so many cool earth GLs, why Wally West can be accept so easily in fan's hearts, and the same with other successful transitions. The problem with Batman's attempt is that Jean sucked as a character, which is why that part of Batman history flopped and Batman Beyond was such a great show. I don't actually expect Terry to become Bruce's successor but if DC is going to cop out and leave a backdoor to get out of this "successor" commitment, it would be a nice nod to include BB in such a way. F.i.
  24. standing 5 foot 10, 140 lbs, from Perry Hall MD. The Majestic, the magnificent, the mighty F.i. It's been a long long while since i've sat down at my computer and have regularly expected to nerd it up. Sites have been disbanded by the admin, dying servers, and various other plagues to my internerd past. As a resolution to this dilemma, I am making this board my new home. Hopefully I can help pump some life into this community. I've enjoyed reading what everyone have posted but once I got through old threads I noticed nothing new is popping up. Coming to a monitor near you THIS THURSDAY: and every thursday there after, well hopefully atleast, my personal results of new comic day. What i got, what i liked, what i didn't, what i wanted to get, what i rolled my eyes at. i won't be able to keep that pace up once the school year hits since I will no longer have a weekly comic shop fix, but hopefully the comics sections can be jumping by then to help keep me updated. Animation is my second passion. I'm gonna drop info and discussions about Fi's Weekly Cartoon. You'll probably have watched them if you watch cartoons and they may not be new, they may not be commonly aired, but they will all be good cartoons. at least in my eyes. I'll wanna talk and vent about many other things as well. nerd games, wrasslin', movies, and whatevah else. I'm gonna start dropping threads faster than rev run drops the beat (blatant lie) so hopefully people will step up and respond. And if/when Versus puts up more battles you know I'll be tharr. Maybe i'll get to add to the number of nation and worldwide F.i.natics. If I'm really lucky, i'll get an arch-nemesis or two. Mighty F.i. the Retreater suggestion = turn the fun up to 11 boardmembers
  25. i think it could be good if he doesn't try to get everyone to geek out by doing a fanboy easter egg contest (like 1602, not terrible but far from great). let him pick a character, don't isolate him to a genre, and let his story rule the rink.
