  1. Thanks to Dread Media, I went and got three Ghoul Town Cd's. Really great TexMex horror rock. Thanks for turning me on to them.

Right on, sir! Do me a favour and go tell Ghoultown that if you get the chance. I want to interview those guys! I haven't sat down and got the new album yet but I certainly will as well. For my money, best genre-themed band since the Misfits.

  2. Guys. Guys. Guys. You're missing the point. Scott didn't have all those Tic Tacs for his breath. They were for Jean's. Just imagine how rank the breath of a dead woman would be.

When are those mainpage awards? Because this is the post of the year.

  3. The Rush "music" was hilarious. I laughed my a** off!

    Great job!

    Agreed 100%!

Thanks gents! I have to admit that was fun.

I will never be the podcaster who berates his audience (they're out there, believe me) but sometimes a little jab is called for.

  4. That explains cyclops. He never knew when Jean might spring back to life, hence 50 pockets each of which held an individual tic-tac.

Plus he had Psylocke going at the time. She was wort a breath mint or two in that ninja outfit. Yowza!

    True.

I also love how the Human Torch is wearing the jacket as well.

Unstable molecules explained everything in the 90s.

  5. Though he's named in the credits, I don't think Marlo's name is mentioned during the film.

Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer is my favorite horror movie. Though I use "horror" loosely.

Oh, Henry is very much a horror film. Seen the sequel?

  6. I'll throw my hat in the ring here and say that the two series of JL are far superior to anything else in the DCAU. BTAS is great but uneven from episode to episode and, sorry, but I thought S:TAS was awful. Batman Beyond was good because it was fresh and I've never seen Zeta Whatchamacallit. In fact, I'd never heard of it until it was mentioned on WFP.

I just don't understand the whole JL is awful thing. It's a thought that is just so foreign to me I can't wrap my head around it.

As far as "Read my Lips" goes, that Joe Lansdale is an amazing writer.

  7. A few things:

Lead vampire: His name is Marlow.

Thank you for that. Do they name him in the film?

Language: I was under the impression that the vampires understand English, but they refuse to speak it. For instance, look at the scene when Marlow and "the stranger" are talking: Marlow knows what "the stranger" is saying, and even responds to it in the vampire language. So it's clear they aren't just learning English by the end of the film.

Yep. I liked the language. Especially the "Gah. No Gah" moment.

Snuff film: Though I didn't pick up on it, I can sort of see what you're talking about with that one kill scene. Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer did it better, however. ;)

Occasionally, you surprise me Mr. Sims. A Henry reference, even!

Ben Foster: I had no idea Ben Foster played Dave in The Punisher. Nor did I realize that was him playing Angel in X-Men 3. Dude is such an awesome actor! Hopefully he'll become huge soon!

    Awesome actor.

HA! I just heard the ending with your son! Awesome!

Yeah...I thought some cuteness would be welcome in an episode full of cannibalism and snuff film references.

  8. Pouches. Everyone in the 90's needed tons of way to small to be functional pouches.

    For breath mints.

With so many hot chicks walking around you wanted to make sure your breath smelled great at all times. Even during superbattles.

  9. To be blunt, I totally disagree with your friend's assessment that writing "two-page" reviews demeans comic books. In fact, I take great insult to that, not because I'm a comic book critic, but because by not taking time to review them in length we're demeaning them. Why is it okay to over-analyze books, movies, theater and televisions shows, but not comic books? They're a perfectly valid form of storytelling and to take them at face value, to not looker deeper, to compare them to Pop-Tarts is an insult to anyone and everyone who's ever laid pencil to paper.

    One man's opinion. I wouldn't take offense.
