  1. They could always make "Afghan Dawn." "If you don't see this movie.... the terrorists.... have already won. Rated R."
  2. I donated about forty hours to Morrowind, then killed someone I shouldn't have and saved. Nothing to do but start over. No thanks.

To be fair, I don't think he was expecting to pay for the system with his life

Incidentally, the Japanese Wii Manual had a few more warnings than the American. http://www.kotaku.com/gaming/top/the-japan...nual-218939.php
  5. I'm mowing my way through this, and love it thus far. If they'd released it as Vagrant Story 2, I think a lot of people's expectations wouldn't have been overblown and it would've been a little more widely accepted than it seems to be. I really like the battle system, but it just doesn't feel like a Final Fantasy. I'm right around the 30 hour mark, for clarity's sake.
  6. Liberty City Stories is already out for the PS2, but I've read several reports saying that Vice City Stories will not be ported. Supposedly, Rockstar needs all hands on deck for GTA4.
  7. What Yoda said. One of my favorite stories ever... and something that could actually translate to the screen fairly easily without looking stilted and cheesy.
  8. My vote looks like this; 1) 360 - The head start was HUGE. The library is there. Xbox Live got pimped, and it was already kickass as it was. Once the bigger HDDs come out and they start offering HD Movie downloads, it's all over. 2) DS - Cheap, it's got a growing catalog, and people like having a portable. I was dead set against the idea of a new Game Boy when this came out, and now I'm starting to warm up to the idea of owning one. Man, do I want Final Fantasy III and the new Super Mario Bros. 3) Wii - Still the best first-party games in the battle. Cheaper price point, with the aforementioned gimmick that brings in both gamers and non-gamers alike. I'll own one of these, once the library deepens a little bit. 4) PS3 - Cost-prohibitive, impossible to find, and there's nothing out for it that I'm even remotely interested in. But hey, it ships with Ricky Bobby! 5) PSP - Has already failed. If it weren't for Rockstar pushing out a new installment of Vice City, these things would almost be on the clearance rack for the holidays.
  9. They forgot the CD-i games! I think the entire series is best understood in Final Fantasy terms. They're completely unrelated, and there just happen to be a few recurring characters and creatures that carry over between them.

Oho, those sound like famous last words to me...
  11. I was thinking it would be the Murdock Daredevil, since he's out of prison and running around in-costume again, but the Negative Zone battle makes more sense.
  12. Yeah, if you don't want to run Parallels or Boot Camp, your gaming options on a Mac are fairly limited. Especially as far as MMORPGs go.
  13. I would be stoked about this news if Sega hadn't sucked so hard this generation.
  14. Working my way through Bully (PS2). After that, it's on to Final Fantasy XII.
  15. Hey, Jae Lee's doing art for Wired now? I adore that guy's work.

Actually, it really depends. I worked at the customer service desk at Circuit City the morning of the Xbox / Gamecube release (they were out on the same day) and we sold out of Xboxes almost immediately, but Gamecubes were still there at about 5:00 that evening, when I left. It may be a different story this generation, since the Wii is launching unopposed, but from my experience, Nintendo products aren't really that in-demand.
  17. They did an animated version in the 70s, which I watched the hell out of when I was young. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0070016/ The trailer won't play in my Mozilla, but I'm not entirely thrilled that it's live-action. Ah well.
  18. I'm surprised you've stuck with Ultimate Fantastic Four and Ultimate X-Men for as long as you have, honestly.
  19. That's understandable, man. I'm going through a similar trimming-down process, myself. The column was a good read while it lasted, and I'll still enjoy it no matter how infrequently it appears going forward.

Unless Sony significantly bumps up their online services, you really can't compare what you get with XBL to what you get with PlayStation Online. Microsoft has that area fine-tuned to the point that I'm more than happy to toss out $50 a year to support it, and most of the cool features are there for Silver (non-paying) Xbox owners anyway. Some "trump card."
  21. Oh man, I'm laughing at the sheer prospect of it. I'm voting for that one.
  22. Yeah, that's pretty much what I expected. I like the wide variety of football games. I wonder if Madden 2004 will rank higher than Madden 2005!
  23. Who's said the masked character is joining Cap's team? All we've seen of him has been a quick appearance spying on the group's activities from out of sight.
