    Kick-Ass

really ? I guess i just don't get it. Mark Millar has been a terrible writer for ages now, and for some reason people still seem to expect more from him. The dude wrote some good stuff at DC years ago but that's about it. For a guy that was basically Grant Morrison's padawan, his output overall is extremly dissapointing.

    Episode 27

Glad to hear a Mike Patton song this week! He's also my favorite musician.
  3. refrence is taking it a bit far. I would say corporate-mandated movie-tv synergy is more like it.
  4. i don't see why that stuff is important though. If these logics problems deter you from enjoying an episode of a "cartoon" based on a "superhero comic book" then why not just ignore the "logic problems" and enjoy the episode. I would really hate to see you guys review any golden age/silver age comics lol.
  5. to be fair, i sent in the first WFP listener feedback ever, and it was extremly negative. 100% agree.
  6. i don't see how it is a slap in the face to Morrison's DP run, in saying that in one series a writer took a similar approach in his first issue on a series as Morrison did without actually doing the same thing as he did. I am only comparing first issues of a writer on a run of an established title. Jason still has a long run to come on Ghost Rider, who's to say if my opinion will change with the next issue or your opinion will change with the next issue, i sure as hell don't know but i am really excited to find out.
  7. Put me in the camp of people that thought Preacher was overrated crap. Also put me in the camp of people that have always thought Ghost Rider was a stupid character. The thing about this book is that it's one of the first times in a long time where i have felt a writer has come on a book with a clear distinct voice, and a new direction right off that bat. Tim Callahan had said that this felt like when Grant Morrison took over Doom Patrol, and i have to agree. Also, why the book might not be "original" like you claim, and i would agree with you there, but it certainly is "different".
  8. I actually picked up that Ghost Rider #20 this past week, and finally sat down and read it tonight. I have to say, were you guys even reading the same comic as me ? Ghost Rider # 20 was fucking awesome. It was just total balls to wall badassery. This should of been an "add to your pull list" pick, not a flip-through or whatever the hell you guys gave it.
  9. fair enough. i just thought as a movie it was quite inspired, and found it a treat to watch all the way through.

  11. is there anything Mark Hamil can't do? he's a badass jedi, an awesome voice actor and awesome all around actor not to mention a comics historian, and just an all around nice guy. oh yeah i remember seeing him in a Superman documentary he also wrote, directed and starred in the excellent film Comic Book: The Movie.
  12. is there anything Mark Hamil can't do? he's a badass jedi, an awesome voice actor and awesome all around actor not to mention a comics historian, and just an all around nice guy.
  13. It's pretty awesome that Howard Chaykin was a writer for this show. Chaykin was held in as high a regard as Frank Miller, Alan Moore, Neil Gaiman, Dave Sim, etc. at the time, and it's just amazing that he ended up working on this show especially since it definetly dosen't seem like his style at all.
  14. DC is putting this out so it's not a Small Press comic. On the topic of the comic itself, I love The Lost Boys but this new movie looks like crap. I might pick this series up just for the hell of it, and depending on how great the DCBS discount is.
  15. The Flash TV show was great. Mark Hamill as The Trickster owned.

    Episode 25

lol sorry about that. I actually would of posted that hours earlier but i was helping my sister set up her iPod because she's going on a trip tomorrow. I would definetly agree with you there. The same can be said about the new Howard The Duck, and FoolKiller series. Omega The Unknown on the other hand actually turned out to be pretty good. Well i enjoyed Hatchet, and The Toxic Avenger is one of my favorite movies. Not to mention i have a Carnosaur poster hanging up in my room, so i would say B movie fun is my cup of tea.

    Episode 25

Very good episode! I enjoyed the interview with Jeff Rector (i remember him from when he made a guest spot on one of my favorite shows Veronica Mars), and the movie Revamped sounded pretty intresting. I might check it out since it seems like something i might get a kick out of. On the topic of Man-Thing, i do have to say that although you might find him to be a rip-off of Swamp Thing (which he pretty much is), the work done by Steve Gerber on that title is incredible, and his take on the character was unprecedented at the time. No one was doing mainstream comics like that at the time, and it certainly paved the way for things like Alan Moore's Swamp Thing (which i also love). In other lesser writer's hands Man-Thing isn't really much of a character but in Gerber's hands it was really something special, and not to mention if it wasn't for that book Howard The Duck would of never came to earth. I still haven't seen the Man-Thing movie you speak of but am looking foward to seeing that travesty one of these days lol. Joe Quesada on the other hand is a complete douchebag. I know Mike likes him but that dude embodies everything that is wrong with mainstream comics and just the comics industry in general. Horror comics don't sell ? I can think of a few examples to say otherwise (The Walking Dead and 30 Days Of Night immediatly spring to mind). Maybe if your company decides to expand their catalogue into different genres and show the readers that there is more out there than just the same recycled superhero garbage that comes out every month they might actually you know buy a horror comic instead. but i know that's a crazy idea. Also the comics have to be good in the first place, which as i can tell by your quick review of Dead Of Night, it certainly isn't. It also makes me wonder why when Steve Gerber was practically begging for work the last few years and was obviously going through a lot of health problems, why didn't they just get him to write Dead Of Night, and you know all the other recently re-launched comics that were created by Steve Gerber as well ? I gotta say Des, i am really digging your show so far. It's just a really intresting format, and i like how you play songs, and just generally talk about whatever you want (kind of reminds me of an old school college radio show). It's a real refreshing alternative to the other podcasts i listen to, and definetly makes you stand out from the pack. Looking foward to another 25 episodes.
  18. Well it kind of sucks that you won't be able to review but glad to see you are taking a vacation, you definetly deserve it. Maybe you can do another issue for a future episode.
  19. I am not sure if you guys already have your books picked out for next week but you should definetly do The Many Adventures of Miranda Mercury by Brandon Thomas which is being released through Archaia Studio Press. I know Brandon mentioned that he was sending out pdf's of the first issue for review. I'll look up some contact info for you guys if you need it, but you guys might have your own system worked out for that. I just figured it would be a nice change of pace from the usual Marvel/Top Cow picks you usually do.
  20. I love the Uncanny X-Cast but sometimes they do piss me off. Rob bashing the TMNT in that one episode almost made me stop listening to the show but i let it go (but seriously are people's only memory of the Ninja Turtles that stupid Vanilla Ice song and that dumb cartoon from the 80's :grumble: ). I was happy to hear that Rob branched out and started reading some different stuff though, and the X-Men: First Class song, and X-Cast rap are constantly stuck in my head lol.
  21. I watch it every week but it's still just a "meh" show. There are a few episodes here and there that stand out as really great but for the most part it's just very generic. Batman Vs. Dracula was actually pretty cool and i think it's the best thing that The Batman team has produced (right next to the Paul Dini penned Harley Quinn episode).
  22. it's pretty good. It's better than anything else that show has ever done.

I liked the ending quite a bit.

    Episode 23

great to hear AMEN on here! Try and work "Coma America" into an episode at some point, because that's probably my favorite song of theirs. On the topic of Eli Roth, I thought Cabin Fever was excellent and was easily one of my favorite flicks 0f 2003. Too bad everything he has made since has been absolute crap.
