  1. that's your opinion. i find this book to be a whole lot of fun.
  2. those who don't like Wolverine: First Class do not have a heart.
  3. You would be correct. It was in a recent issue of Grant Morrison's Batman (i believe it was #672), but the sequence it appeared in was in a dreamstate. It also popped up in a recent issue of Action Comics during that Legion story but it was taking place in the future. I don't get my shipment in from DCBS until next week so i haven't read the issue yet, but i always liked Spoiler and i am happy to see that she is back. I'll be sure to post in here with my thoughts after i read the issue in question.
  4. Looks awesome! More Joss Whedon TV shows is always a good thing.
  5. they are oversized issues though if memory serves correct.

Des, i know i am a little late on this but in regards to that Last.fm page you mentioned, it was me who added the image (i am actually DeftonedSnothed on last.fm). The way the page works is that when someone listens to something through iTunes or Winamp (and has a last.fm plugin) a page will be created on last.fm for that item. In terms of Podcasts it logs whatever was in the artist tab of the file in as a new artist (in the case of Dread Media, the artist is Desmond Reddick). You can later add pictures, bios, etc for the artist.

  8. http://www.superherohype.com/news/topnews.php?id=7095 So is he going to sound gay like Stewie, or gay like the alien in American Dad? This bit of news has almost killed all my excitement for this movie. why the fuck did they have to let that douche bag voice a character?
  9. really? All the actions of the character would say otherwise.
  10. Mike, the Buffy "Conversations With Dead People" board isn't just something they used in place of the word Quija, it's actually the name of an episode of Buffy in which that board was used.
  11. When has Frank Miller ever cited Will Eisner as his only influence? I have heard him go on and on about how Jack Kirby is so great, and how all these old manga artists influenced his style, etc. so i have no idea where you got the impression that he snubbed Kirby in any way. Eisner is certainly his biggest influence but i have never heard him say it is his only influence. Miller as a comics writer/artist/creator is far from overrated. The guy had one creation that i feel was overrated and not up to his greatest potential (Sin City), and one book that even though i greatly admire it's ambition and intentions just didn't work for me (Dark Knight Strikes Again), but everything else is GOLD. Miller as a filmmaker though i feel is overrated. I will check out The Spirit movie though just because i love the Spirit comics and i just am really intrested in seeing Miller tell a Spirit story, and even though i am not a fan of his visual style at all i am willing to give it a shot.
  12. 100% agreed. All the more reason why Captain America should keep the name so he can show the world what America is supposed to stand for. The funny thing is i really don't think Captain America would translate to film all that well, but it's the one comic property that i constantly think of movie ideas for.

  14. i think that's one of my favorite pictures so far.
  15. X-2: X-Men United is the best in my opinion. I am also quite fond of Blade II. Yes i do indeed like things lol. When a topic gets brought up on one of the said things i like, I will be sure to gush over it. In relation to Iron Man i had really low expectations for it going in, as i don't really care for the character and i wasn't impressed by much of anything that i saw ahead of time. I do like Jon Favreau, and Robert Downey Jr. though so i figured i would go see it to support them, and just maybe it might suprise me and be awesome.... but it wasn't. The real shame was that the first 30-45 minutes were really good but just like Ang Lee's Hulk the second it became a "superhero" movie, my intrested level dwindled and it just continued to drag on from there. That's the problem with these kinds of movie when you make your characters more intresting out of the costumes than in them because everytime they are in costume the whole flick just feels like it's slumming it. If the superhero side of the movie wasn't so generic, it might of come together better. I also have a distaste for live action movies that overly rely on CGI, so that didn't help the matter. It wasn't a terrible movie but it wasn't a great movie either. I also have no real nostalgia for Iron Man, The Avengers, or Nick Fury so all the little refrences didn't really do much for me which seemed to be the highlight of the movie for a lot of other people. On the plus side the cinematogrpahy was beautiful, and Downey Jr. was awesome as usual (although he was really just doing his same old schtick). Glad you dug it but it wasn't my cup of tea.
  16. I didn't think it was all that great. The first 45 minutes were pretty cool, and i liked Robert Downey Jr in the role (when he was spouting off the one-liners) but after that the whole thing turned into a boring, cliched, dragged out predictable mess. Honestly who didn't see that villian reveal coming the second the character was introduced at the beginning of the movie ???? The terrible dialogue, the waste of a supporting cast, and the stupid drawn out battle at the end that looked it was a fucking video game. I seriously don't see how anyone thinks this is the best comic book movie ever ? It's not even the best Marvel movie either (not even close).
  17. Anyone who says The Dark Phoenix Saga is overrated dosen't like good comics.
  18. excellent Simpsons refrence there, Mike. Someone has to get Des the back issues or the Supernovas, and Blinded By The Light trades so that he can stop bashing Mike Carey's X-Men. It always kills me everytime an X-book goes up for review and Des tears it apart.
  19. It's looking like probably Saturday or Sunday.
  20. I saw the new trailer at NYCC. I quite enjoyed it, especially the classic "Kill The Batman" line at the beginning of it.

    Episode 33

Yo Des, do you know if Weed Species is going to be coming out in Paperback as well ? Sounds like an intresting read. btw it was great to hear "Weeds" by LOA, i haven't heard that in ages. took me right back to 1998.
  22. Actually Zak Penn didn't write the X-2 screenplay at all, he just helped hammer out the story and plotting with Bryan Singer, and David Hayter (and as you said it's mostly from a comic storyline anyway).
