Why would anyone want Bane in a new Bat-movie anyway, or the "breaking of the bat" storyline for that matter ? The next movie needs to be a more uplifting piece to cap off this story, as opposed to another dour affair. Catwoman would fill that void very well in my opinion, and could open up more possibilities to explore the questions posed in TDK. I think you could also throw villians like Ventriliquist/Scarface, and The Mad Hatter in as sort of a reaction to the Joker, but you wouldn't have to spend much time on them story-wise. Also, I think it would be really cool if they threw the "psuedo-realism" bullshit to the wind and did a movie with Hugo Strange and Man-Bat lol.

Delays are huge problem with both of the big 2 companies (and even some of the smaller ones), so it's not fair to say one is worse than the other. For every Last Son or Wonder Woman there's a Whedon Runaways or Astonishing X-Men on the other side, it's a moot point. For me personally, i am really looking foward to this mini-series and am very happy to see Kevin Smith come back to comics.

looks awesome! i like the Dick Sprang look to the whole thing. it's really cool to see Jaime Reyes getting the spotlight in this too, he's been one of my favorite characters introduced in recent years.

It was definetly supposed to conjure up thoughts of that movie, and i felt it was sort of challenging it. The scenes in the street with the bat-pod and the truck were definetly loving homages to the Burton film as well. Pieces of the Elfman score show up in the movie as well.

I was so happy that you guys both dug Wolverine: First Class, and atleast didn't hate Uncanny X-Men. X-Men: Legacy is a mess, and i can't wait until they get back to just plain old X-Men because Mike Carey's run pre-Messiah Complex was excellent. It still kills me that you guys both bash Bru/Fraction's Immortal Iron Fist because i (and many other people) feel that was one of the best super-hero comics in years, and a total breath of fresh air. I know it's your opinion and all but it still kills me everytime i hear it. I can't speak of Swierczynski's run because i haven't read any of it but it wouldn't suprise me if it's bad since most of his comic work has been "meh" (too bad since i like his crime novels). Still, best episode of IIWY? in a long time.

My DVD set is coming in the mail, but i am sad to hear that they substituted the theme song because it was perfect for the show. I guess i'll still hold onto my bootleg DVD's then.

some of it was a bit on the nose in terms of the themes of the movie, etc. (although not nearly as bad as BB).

Just got back from TDK, and i have to say, aside from some dialogue problems, it was actually a damn near masterpiece.

looks pretty awful. and seriously of all the songs to use, they pick the SP song from the Batman and Robin soundtrack. whatever, i will never watch this movie anyway.

I can't stand this same universe shit, just make the best movies you can and don't worry about inter-franchise continuity.

Saw it last night, and it was awesome! Best movie of the summer so far.

"Working Through Pain" has to be one of my favorite Batman stories ever, otherwise though the rest of it was rather meh. It wasn't bad by any means but it just didn't blow me away like i was expecting it to.

I get my books from DCBS at the end of the month, so i haven't read the issue yet but when i do i'll be sure to come back to this thread and see if i can make some sense out of it for you. I will say though that if you have been reading Morrison's run from the beginning, it has been long established that this isn't really a linear story and sometimes we are not always seeing things as they are but sometimes through the mind of Bruce Wayne (or the fractured psyche of Bruce Wayne for that matter). This is not a comic that is going to hold you hand the whole way through and explain everything for you, it requires work on the part of the reader. I do know that in the issue we do finally see the Zur-En-Arrh Batman which is from this story the story is basically that Batman goes out patrolling one night and is abducted by someone into another planet. The person who abducted him is the Batman of Zur-En-Arrh who has actually been watching Batman from his planet and inspired him to also become a bat as it were. On this planet the regular Batman has the powers of Superman because of the lower gravity, and manages to help the Zur-En-Arrh Batman defeat an alien invasion on his planet using a gadget called the Bat-Radia. Batman is then sent back to planet earth with a souviner hope that helps lol.

except that you don't have to do that with Batman RIP. The main story is in the main Batman book, and everything else is just dealing with the fallout of recent events and is not integral to the story at all.

Just read the Gearhead TPB last night. Pretty good stuff, and manages to tell a rather compelling story while using some rather familiar and at this point cliche motifs (i.e. Superhero's not being so 'super', exiling villians, etc.). Overall though it was pretty damn enjoyable, and Kevin Mellon's art is fantastic. I was a little let down though when i arrived at the end of the book and it said "to be continued...", and there isn't a second volume to my knowledge. Hopefully they do one in the future because they really leave you on a cliffhanger. I also read Suburban Glamour, and throughly enjoyed it. It definetly had a very Buffy vibe to it with a touch of Degrassi but still very different. I thought the author Jamie Mckelvie really nailed the whole high school dynamic and that awkward feeling in transition from high school to college. I found the fantasy elements to be very well done, and the transition between the two types of story were rather seamless. Jamie's art is really great too, and i think he is going to be one of those guy's to watch out for in the coming years (in both mainstream and creator owned stuff). I also think i have a crush on Astrid Johnson lol.
