  1. Well i didn't like any of the other public domain character books that came out recently either. I'm also not that big of an Ennis fan, but i loved Dan Dare. It just some great straight up superhero fun! Well it's been ages since i have read The Demon, but i remember it being good. I didn't like Preacher much at all though.
  2. My friend has a copy of the first issue, and i looked through it and liked the artwork a lot. Once all five issues are out i'll ask if i can borrow them, and then i will get my thoughts back to you on that. But you should seriously read Dan Dare, it's amazing!
  3. I think he means a new young team of X-Men kind of like The New Mutants or the current Young X-Men comic. Get a good director on this, and i think it can be pretty good.
  4. Dangerous Habits is Ennis' best work. Can you direct me to that episode where you bashed Dan Dare ?
  5. I can't believe what i'm hearing Garth Ennis' only good work is Preacher ? WTF! What about Hellblazer, The Demon, Hitman, Chronicles Of Wormwood, and Dan Dare ? All those books are a million times better than Preacher. A comic written by Fred Van Lente gets a 'skip it' :grumble: and Chaykin gets bashed again :grumble: you guys drive me nuts sometimes.

I had hopes. I love all of these characters, even Beast Boy, and wanted the book to be good. I guess it just proves that willing something to happen doesn't always mean it will. Don't get me wrong because I love the Wolfman/Perez era Titans but once i saw the creative team on this book, i knew it would be shit.
  8. You guys are nuts! Brubaker and Fraction's Immortal Iron Fist is a consistently amazing book, month in and month out. This is terrible news that this team is leaving. I dig Duane Swierczynski's crime books, but his comic work has been severly lacking so far. I also do not think he's the right person for this book, and will most likely be dropping the book after the original team leaves. This is a very sad day for brilliant and creative mainstream superhero comics.

  13. Well sort of, If you are buying issues full price, and trades full price, then yes 9/10 times it's cheaper to buy the trade. But through DCBS, it's usually cheaper to buy the issues than the eventual trade. But as you said it's more of a space issue.
  14. Just get the first 2 volumes of Essential Moon Knight, and you should be good. No one else has ever got the character except for Doug Moench and Bill Sienkiewicz.
  15. How the hell does Omega The Unknown keep gettng a skip ? It's the best book Marvel puts out (well that and Criminal). What's with the Chaykin bashing too ?
  16. If Rob Thomas is making this, I'll watch it. Hopefully it will be like Degrassi: The Next Generation in it's execution.
  17. Brazil for both categories. They are all great films though (with the exception of Fear And Loathing).
  18. If it's any consolation i thought your review was fine. What the hell were you guys supposed to do, re-enact the movie for us lol. You told us what lines stood out to you guys, gave a pretty good plot outline, said what you liked, and disliked about the movie, and that's really all you are supposed to do.
  19. It failed to entertain you, but it didn't fail to entertain me. I wouldn't call Todd's art remarkable, but I would call it neccessary for this book to work. Todd's grotesque, and exaggrated visuals play into what Miller is trying to do (and what he will do in the future) with the character of Batman, and having the guy who's creation/movement you are parodying actually draw the book adds a much needed subversive vibe to this work (kind of like Jim Lee's art on ASB&R). The dialogue, and story are purposely ridiculous, and you have to embrace the absurdity to enjoy it. I think both you and Des misunderstood what i meant by "a window into the 90's". I didn't mean a look at what was going on in comics in the 90's but a look into the mind of Frank Miller, and his views on the industry in the 90's, and the general vibe between the old and the new creators in the 90's. Frank Miller did not phone this work in, and this does fit into the larger picture he is trying to paint of the Dark Knight. This work bridges the gap between Frank's macho Batman of the 80's, and his absurd Batman of the 00's.
  20. I disagree. When looked at as a metaphor for "established old school comic characters vs. new school hotshot comic characters" or better yet "established old school comic creators vs. new school hotshot comic creators" the whole book makes a lot more sense. You can almost sense that Frank Miller loathes Spawn and much of the Image stable of characters in every page of this book (which i am sure he feels somewhat responsible for), but at the same time a begrudging respect for the people who created these characters and the company which houses them. It's also just a really funny and absurd book which turns something as monotonous as an inter-company crossover into an intresting read which acts a window into a certain time period in the comic business. It also has one of the best final pages in a comic ever!!!
  21. I believe Batman calling Spawn 'punk' continously is from Spawn/Batman: Red Scare (which is excellent btw) not War Devil.
  22. Wow this brings back memories! This was a damn good episode although i think the Turtles comics kind of got the shaft (although Mike apoligizes for that in the episode). Hopefully there is a Turtles Comics spotlight episode or something in the future. I better be on that episode though considering that i am a living TMNT encyclopedia lol.
  23. Robocop is considered an action movie ? I always considered it more of a social satire/black comedy than an action movie.
