  1. Tim Drake's dad was killed by Captain Boomerang and he was Robin way before that Oops my mistake it was Jason Todd who Two Face was responsible for the death of his father.
  2. Sadly Disney owns the rights to the Saban franchise and last I heard they were going to release "their" shows first, than according to sales they would begin to release that era. It may also be that they need to get the rights to the Saban Ninja Turtle show before they can release the Power Rangers In Space, since they are in that season for two episodes. I just stay with powerrangerguy on youtube and watch it on there. I will go as far as Lost Galaxy than stop and maybe watch for the team up episodes and Dino Thunder (with Tommy as Black Dino Ranger). However, I do believe a box set of the original series has been released outside the US, so if you have a Region Free DVD player, I'd say buy that set.
  3. Yeah, the biggest flaw the episode had going for it was Hawkman's voice. The actor looks great and does a great job in the role, but when he speaks it distracts from the rest of the portrayal. Its a bit disappointing that they didn't have Jay Gerrick or Alan Scott in the episode as members fighting along with Clark, John and Green Arrow. Did they think the outfits were more ridiculous than Hawkman, Stagirl and Dr. Fate? I also love how Clark didn't flinch when he saw Jay Gerrick as a member in jail and didn't ask to speak to Bart, after all that is one of the alias he was using when Clark met him.
  4. I just started to watch this series. For a long while I was put off my the 50's era animation and just was nervous at seeing Batman bought back to the campy style he was in the 60's. I finally decided to watch the series when I head Kevin Conroy (Phantom Stranger), Adam West (Thomas Wayne), Mark Hamill (Spectre) and Julie Newmar (Marth Wayne) will be in an upcoming episode. What I must say about the series so far; is that while it has some elements of campiness, it actually does it with a great style. Diedrich Bader is great in the voice of Batman. Corey Burton comes in several times as Red Tornado and more DCAU voices graces us with new character voices. I love the episode with Bat-Mite entitled "Legends of the Dark Knight" it was written by Paul Dini and featured great homages to Batman: The Animated Series, The Dark Knight Returns and the 60's TV series. Bat-Mite also makes you appreciate Mr. Mxylpltik a little bit more. At the moment I'm doing Episode reviews for Freddy's Nightmares and Smallville, so when I'm done I will be doing reviews for this series as well. If you want to check out the episode reviews for the series I've done already, go to my rottentomatoes page under the name annericelover. I've done, Angel, Nip/Tuck, Smallville 1-6, Lois & Clark 1-3.
  5. I looked throughout this whole thread and couldn't find it. I also remember seeing it, if the moderators see this and there is one, please transfer to that one. From what I remember Robin came in during his second year, believe me I don't really want Robin, maybe just a reference to show that he will be there soon. I would love to see a Tony Zuco Live Action version of Robin's origins, with a young actor around 13 or 14 portraying him. The origin we saw in Batman Forever was a combination of Dick Grayson(Flying Grayson's, them falling to death because of ripped rope) and Tim Drake (Two-Face being responsible)origins. Its a bit cliched to automatically mention one or the other. In Superman Returns I rolled my eyes at hearing Gotham City mentioned. I'm glad they've left Superman and Metropolis out. A mention wouldn't hurt the film, but a hurried JL film might be the result. I suggest that WB waits to see how Marvel develops the Avengers film to see how its done right.
  6. Well I just got done watching the film and I must say the film is what you'd expect from the DCAU type storytelling. The animation is crisp and the voice acting is amazing. The premise of the story is not anything new, but its still fun to watch. I love James Woods voice acting especially, he plays the voice of Owlman, the alternate Batman and he does it well. Batman's character toes the line between good and evil so fine that even his counterpart is just like him. I also just watched Turtles Forever and definitely see parallels when it comes to the ultimate idea from the evil mastermind, but since this was written as a DCAU project before it was reworked differently, I'd say they came up with the idea first. William Baldwin sounds weird as Batman, he still does ok in the role, but I'm so used to Kevin Conroy its hard to get a new voice in my head. Not as memorable as Jeremy Sisto taking over the role in the last JL DVD Movie. I'm still excited to purchase the 2 Disc DVD and check out the special features, which are supposed to be much better than what we got with Public Enemies. I also just heard about Under the Hood and can't wait for that. So, I'd say check the film out and judge for yourself as to whether its good enough to buy, its available online for free, just search it.
  7. Well according to the link below there may be a chance that The Riddler, Penguin, Barbara Gordon, Dr. Fries and/or Dick Grayson. It may also feature a metion of Metropolis and Lex Luthor with Nolan now over seeing the next Superman film as a way to start a series of films to a Justice League film. Don't get me wrong we all know what Nolan has said about adapting not only Robin, but any villains that have been seen in previous films and TV shows, so take this with a grain of rumor salt. Although the idea of Dr. Fries being seen as just a doctor and not a villain is interesting and would help to establish a background, so in a later film he could be made into the villain we know. I wouldn't mind having a passing reference to "Flying Graysons, " coming to Gotham soon or at least for it to be let known that a traveling circus is famous for them. The Penguin is a character I would love for them to pass on, DeVito and Meredith did a great job with the character in ther respective portrayals, but the villain to me is boring. I can only see Steve Buscemi at this moment playing Edward Nygma/The Riddler, but not yet, its too soon to involve him. No Catwoman please, she's a great character and foil for Batman, but its too soon in the history to introduce her. We can again make a passing reference to Selena Kyle, but leave i there. I would love to see Talia make an appearance, Deanna Russo would play her well(currently on House and was the love interest for Michael Knight Jr. on the revamped Knight Rider series). It would also keep with the connection with Batman Begins and can play on both Batman and Bruce Wayne's double world. No Harley Quinn in the film unless she is as sadistic as she was on Birds of Prey, I don't want to see her in here just to make a connection to The Joker and Heath Ledger. If Barbara Gordon was to be shown more than just a scared little girl, it would be cool to her begin her interest in being a detective or her fascination with fighting crime. http://www.cinemaspy.com/article.php?id=3997
  8. Apocalypse is coming!!! You know when Amanda Waller said that, it gave so many images in my mind for what is to come at the end of this year and next season. I mean if they have plans to bring Darkseid onto the show, than they'd better bring him in better than they did Doomsday. I don't like Mercer, she seems like a bad Lionel clone (with not knowing if she's good or bad) and she keeps appearing in various scenes (as if she was the mastermind) and not contributing to anything. Kill her off please. I'm also pissed that they put Lois and Clark together, its not right and they don't really have chemistry anyway, maybe sexual, but that's it. All in all I enjoyed the episode, I would have liked to see Alan Scott and Jay Gerrick suit up, more than this Stargirl, but maybe next time.
  9. I'm glad that Nolan has a hand in this now, but I don't want a "darker" Superman. I just want a Superman who is more real. Let's take a good look at him and showcase the powers he posses as a wow factor, than give him a great villain in the first film, with hints of an even bigger threat for a future film. Characters like Superman have a darker sides, but let's not go crazy on them, Smallville has taken care of that. As much as I do enjoy Smallville, they've allowed the darkness of the character to go further than it ever has.
  10. This is a great set of videos, that are still being made. 24 episodes are up already and go between 3 minutes to 20 minutes. He also provides trivia and comic book trivia associated with each episode and character. Check them out here: http://hocof.blogspot.com/2009/11/history-of-comics-on-film-part-1.html The first 15 are also available on youtube under the account derekwc, enjoy.
  11. The series actually began to get heavily interesting for me. With the introduction of Summer Glau, the series expanded on a concept not yet fully realized. What bugs the hell out of me is FOX's short attention span, they don't really give a series a chance. Also they canceled Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles for this series and they still canceled it. T:TSCC had a terrific S2 cliffhanger, but of course it was never finalized. The people in the FOX offices probably don't even watch TV.
  12. Batman Begins was a great reboot, it re-established the Batman character and told us a story we were only briefly told of in previous incarnations. The Incredible Hulk could have been bought in as a different toned sequel, but with the credit origin sequence it is obvious that its a reboot. The Incredible Hulk was an improvement over The Hulk, but not by much. When I say Superman being rebooted, I mean the reboot they are going for(which now has to be rushed by 2011). Superman Returns was not a reboot, it was a sequel. In my opinion it should have started over again anyway, because of the 19 year gap since the last film. Spider-Man should not rebooted, I mean Spider-Man 3 had a lot of problems with it, but it had established characters and had a story line being built up. Now I hate it when they make a sequel with a new set of actors, but in this case it would have been alright, if it meant we were continuing the story instead of restarting. Look at the The Punisher as another example of reboots gone crazy. The original Dolph Lundgren film was awesome, the remake with Thomas Jane was a lucky shot for them, but than we got The Punisher: War Zone, what the hell?
  13. Hollywood has already started the "Reboot" wagon. I for one hate it when they do this, they aren't getting the financial success that first few comic book based films gave them, so they give up and start over again. They did it to Batman, The Incredible Hulk, now Superman and Spider-Man. Lazy way for Hollywood to hide the fact they are running out of ideas(another origin film means they don't have to think of new stories).
  14. Hello my fellow geeks, nerds, whatever; I am posting this topic as a way to reach out and making new friends on Skype, Yahoo messengers, with some great features. 15. Lloyd Kauffman has again decided to present us with more of his Tromaville superhero The Toxic Avenger, this time it looks like it combines Toxic Avenger 1 & IV with the continuity of II & III. Here's the link to the poster and some more information http://www.bloody-disgusting.com/news/17966
  16. I enjoyed this TV series, if I may I want to do a little review on the series and why I think about it the way I do. First we have to understand The Adventures of Superboy starring Gerard Christopher(at the time)was prematurely canceled to make way for this series. At the time WB didn't want two Superman related shows on at the same time, even though Superboy was high in the ratings. James Haynes Newton(the Superboy from Season 1)auditioned for the role of Clark Kent/Superman, but due to his previous experience in the role he was denied. Dean Cain, came into the audition and won it almost automatically. I enjoyed his portrayal of the character, he did tend to be a little too goody goody, but that's okay, the series is meant to be a romantic comedy. What I liked the most about his portrayal of both characters is that he wasn't trying to imitate Christopher Reeve's version of the character. He wasn't a clumsy Clark, in fact he played the character in a way that helped to convince Lois falling in love with Clark, even over Superman. Teri Hatcher is amazing in this series, yes, I am one of those who had a huge crush on her when the series was on air, but it was also her ability to make you forget all other Lois'. She played the role as a hard nosed, stubborn, but smart woman capable of taking care of herself. While her character did have to be saved by Superman several times, she is often able to fight back and not appear as a simple damsel in distress. Michael Landes and Justin Whalin did a great job playing Jimmy Olsen, Whalin tends to be my favorite, but only because his youth helped to create better stories for his character. Especially the one with his father, that was an awesome episode. Lane Smith is in my opinion the best Perry White, he is hard edged, tough boss, who can still be revered as a father figure for the main cast. Its a shame he passed away, it would have been nice for him to someday reprise the role, maybe as a voice in a future series. Tracey Soggins isnt worth mentioning, her character of Cat was annoying and really helped to bring the first season down a bit, she's also not very attractive, she looks like a skeleton that moves. She was still great in the two Demonic Toys films. John Shea is another actor who relly helps to make this series fun to watch, his version of Lex is exactly how it should be portrayed, he's not jokey and doesn't rely on half witted henchmen to get the job done. He's a businessman, with a hobby, it just happens to be killing Superman. Ma and Pa Kent are a big part of the series and while a part of me wonders why they are alive, it really helps to fully understand Clark's morals, when you still have the people who raised him still alive. The series was terrific, with a few episodes that could have just been thrown out the window, but overall it was good. The finale is a sad thing, because ABC did renew the series for a fifth season and than overnight they canceled the show. The network wouldn't even allow them to film a final episode to explain the bahy and give closure to the series. The characters outside the main cast I enjoyed, have to be Nor, Tempest, Mxy(yes I enjoyed Howie Mandell in the role). The structure of the series was good, I was one of those who enjoyed the whole Clone/Memory loss arc. I still have to get S4 pn DVD, but I still find the series to be quite fulfilling.
  17. David Warner did play the first appearance of Jor-El on the series and we all know he had later played the voice of Ra's Al Ghul on Superman: The Animated Series. Richard Beltzer also played a news reporter/detective type on The Flash TV Series, which used the same sets that L&C uses.
  18. Smallville has gone through several changes, some good, some bad. The problem first off is the show has been on for so long, its hard for the writers to continue telling the tales of Superman as a teenager, especially now that he is grown man, without putting on the suit. Fans are partly to blame for some of the up against the wall writing that has occurred. Fans were clamoring for some new familiar faces and we got Lois Lane and Perry White. While Perry White being put in the show the episode didn't hurt the credibility of the show, it asked the same question that is asked with Lois being bought in the series. If these people met Clark as a child with no glasses and experienced weird things with him around, than how are they fooled by a pair of glasses when he does become Superman? They know what Clark looks like without glasses. Writing Also Lana is an interesting character, but they wrote her as a wining baby Kristen Kreuk has on occasion showed that she can act(like the last episode she was in was great), but the writers made her seem like a baby. Every conversation she had with ANYONE was the same and with a a whispering sounding voice. It got annoying. Chloe is a great character and Allison Mack has done a great job at playing her, but the writers have constantly been screwing with her. The Legion members state that she was never in the history books, which means she may have died, well the writers since Season have treated her as an expendable character and its quite annoying. Writing Lex out was a decision made because of Rosenbaum wanting to do new things; that's finem so why are they writing it that he's missing, than thought dead? It's stupid, we know he's alive. Do they think we're stupid, Tess is a great anti-hero type villainous and the actress has a great way to play her, but she is bought in, in a bad way. Where did she come from? How does she know Lex? Why out of all the employees he has would he leave her in charge? These are questions never asked or addressed. I think the writers wanted to add that Ms Teschmacher/Mercy reference for the fans of the films and DCAU, they should have bough her in in the previous season and built her character more. I hated what they eventually did with Green Arrow, he is a great character, who is very much like a cross between Bruce Wayne and Tony Stark, bt now its ridiculous. The season with the stones was the worse, there are some choice episodes, but the overall story arc is shit, there's no point to it and really it got boring with Lana's ancestor being a witch. I'm surprised with them bringing in Vampires and Witches, they didn't bring in werewolves or mummies by now. Terrible choice have been made in that way. I liked Brainiac that was some great writing, although he is the DCAU version of Brainiac and not the original version from the comics, James Marsters played him well. The Doomsday story was also a big problem. Here we have a character that killed Superman and the writers chose to bring him in now, before he is even at full strength. Not too mention the non Jimmy Jimmy Olsen. The whole lead up to the Doomsday/Clark fight was a big hype and we hardly got a fight. I do know why they did this, because Doomsday in the comics emerged from the Earth he was buried in. Well Clark's the reason he's there. They could have had that as a half season story arc to establish that connection, not do it like that. The series for me is still fun to watch and in recent episodes the writing has seem to be getting better. Although, I'm not sure about having a young Zod and Kandorians coming to Earth is smart. Also we again have Clark not learning from his mistakes. Still its still good TV and helps fill up my Friday nights. But for those who are expecting to be blown away, it has run its course, the only way they could get that back is to continue the series in a spin off called Metropolis and have him finally become Superman, not EMO Blur, what the hell is that?
  19. Poor Chloe, being expendable means they can kill you so many times. I just got done watching the November 20th episode and she was once again killed. That's like 5 times already, what the hell? I love Chloe, she is beautiful, smart, cool and a much better match for Clark, than Lois or Lana, but the writers keep her alive just to kill her. I liked that episode, it actually helped bring the show back on its feet again, now let's hope it can stay that way, The CW already ordered a Season 10.
  20. What's the DVD TV Pilots feature? Is that the Justice League Of America Pilot? It has an s, so perhaps its more than one pilot, like maybe the Superboy Pilot or Shazaam pilot, I'm guessing the DVD Producers ran out of material.
  21. Johnny Depp's look really makes me want him to play this role in a new Batman film. The make up would fit perfectly and Depp is a great versitile actor.
  22. I actually liked last week's episode. Eliza's college girl act was a bit of a cliche, but I found myself more interested in the psycho/victor storyline. This is the first episode of the season I enjoyed. Question still comes to mind...What happened between Echo and Alpha? She left last season with Alpha and than beginning of this season she'sback at the Dollhouse, what happened?
  23. What I don't get is that they cast a completely different person as Jor-El. Why not just have Tom Welling play his father like he did in S3 episode "Relic?"
  24. I saw the film and thought it was pretty damn good. tHE nimation is great; with the voice acting blending well. Of course, with the DCAU voices returning to their characters we don't get to compare with a new voice. This isn't a bad thing; it actually helps you just concentrate on the film. I read the comic and while many characters were left out, they did a great job keeping up with the story and gave us some good action scenes. I wish the people behind these films would extend the running time. I mean why does an animation film need to be under 70 minutes? Adults are watching these too, its PG-13. I'd have to give this adaptation 4 out of 5
  25. I haven't finished watching the whole episode, but I do agree its starting off slow. I really hope Joss doesn't let me down. I mean FOX got rid of Terminator for this. Terminator would have been a success.
