  1. Hey everyone, with the success of the Twilight films, it is no surprise that Ane Rice's Vampire Chronicles will once again be unleashed on the big screen. It isn't clear yet if they will begin a new or just continue where they left off, but so far Robert Downey Jr is said to be in close negotiations to play Lestat(played before by Tom Cruise and Stuart Townsend). I'm also unsure if Anne Rice will have anything to do with the production, considering her new path. Here is the link http://www.bloody-disgusting.com/news/17082
  2. I just watched the film on the computer and here are my thoughts: It's a pretty good film to pick up on DVD and view multiple times. I don't know too much about Green Lantern's Comic Book Origins, but what I have seen in other adaptations(the most recent being Justice League: New Frontier)he's a great hero, who needs a Live Action version to come along(Justice League of America Pilot with Guy Gardner is one of 2 live action adaptations). The voice acting here is also good, I did enjoy who voiced Green Lantern and having Michael Madsen(Mr Orange himself)voice a tougher version of Killawog was a great choice. I would have liked to see David Boreanaz return to voice Green Lantern, but its still nice to have all these films being made and being able to decide who you like the most. The story itself fet a bit rushed, having Hal Jordan automatically go against Sinestro on his first big mission was completely unreal and made me feel a bit cheated. I mean, we didn't really get to know him and see him develop his powers. He just got the ring and knew how to use it right away. The New Frontier had a better origin story than this film and that is a bit sad. I also didn't really care too much to see the ENTIRE film base itself in the Green Lantern Corp, I mean is anyone wondering where Hal is? Also the teaser(before credits)Hal is shown to be having a relationship and after the credits he's talking to her and than nothing else about that. They seemed to just start a story and never finished it. Alan Burnett is a great writer and has been involved since the DCAU, but he took a miss here. Anyway, my review seems to be mostly negative, but I still thought it was ok and warrants a two disc DVD buy(fuck those 1 disc DVD's, why do they even bother making those). 3 out of 5 stars
  3. The voice casting is pretty good, but a tad on the lazy side. I love having Kevin Conroy, Tim Daly, Clancy Brown and CCH Pounder returning to their DCAU roles, but the DC Universe films were meant to feature new voices in all the films. It seems like they just wanted to be safe. Even so, it should be good. However, I am going to feel a bit weird hearing someone else do the voice of John Corburn/Metallo and not Malcolm McDowell
  4. I liked the villain, sure he had a cliched MO, wanting to take over the world and all, but he appeared to be such a smart ass and you have to admit, other than Ron Perlman's character in Blade 2, no one has really laughed in Blade's face. You have a point about him looking over 10 years older than his Blade self, but that is what make up is for. I'm also pretty sure we'd see him at a young age in the first film and only have Dorff as a narrator.
  5. Norrington director of Blade has decided to start a trilogy with Stephen Dorff reprising his role as Decon Frost st before Blade http://www.superherohype.com/news/topnews.php?id=8483
  6. BUMP!!! Routh's contract to appear in another Superman film has expired, he may not be in anymore films, but he said he would come back in a second if asked. Read here for more http://www.superherohype.com/news/supermannews.php?id=8479
  7. If you head over to kryptonsite.com you'll find some great news for fans of both Smallville and this new upcoming film Allison Mack Provides A Voice In Direct-To-DVD Superman & Batman Feature On September 29, Warner Home Video will be releasing a special Superman/Batman animated feature based on the "Public Enemies" storyline which was written by Smallville vet Jeph Loeb. The feature will include several notable voices from past DC Comics animated programs, including Kevin Conroy (Batman: The Animated Series) as Batman and Tim Daly (Superman: The Animated Series) as Superman. The most exciting part of this for Smallville fans, however, is that Warner Bros. press material lists Allison Mack as part of the voice cast. No word yet on who she will be voicing, but if it's true, this will be a return for Allison to the DC animated universe, having portrayed the voice of "Clea" in an episode of The Batman alongside Brandon Routh. Some online fan speculation is that Allison will be voicing Power Girl, though, again, this has not been confirmed.
  8. Here's a rumor that has been proven false. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ot3c41PyTSM&feature=fvw Megan Fox as of right now is not in talks to play the live action Wonder Woman. But does anyone think she isn't great for the role? She has the look and she has shown to have some great acting abilities, but can she really portray the Greek Amazonion Princess on the big screen and than carry that over to a Justice League Live Action film?
  9. I am really itching to see Green Lantern: First Flight and the Wonder Woman film. It's funny how I love Marvel films, but the animated films tend to be of lesser quality, while the DC animated films tend to be incredibly awesome(not that the live action DC films aren't great too).
  10. My mistake that was Ted Levine, I could have sworn he played another DCAU character.
  11. Since these animated films have been coming out I have only seen 3. This is my impressions: Superman: Doomsday(2007) Coming off the DCAU it was quite surprising to see these comic book geeks fowl up one of the best stories the DC Comic universe has ever written. It was disappointing because they had so much material to play around with and this really could have been the start of a great set of PG-13 films. Each film could have ended on a cliffhanger, making each new film that more sort after. Anyway, let me get back to my thoughts on the film that was made. The voice acting isn't the worse I've ever heard, but it certainly failed to impress. Especially considering Andrea Romano(the voice casting director), who brought us the voices of the DCAU characters hand picked these voices. Anne Heche does tend to be picked out by many people as being the worse Lois Lane and while I tend to agree that her talents as a voice actor needs a little conditioning, it is more so the way the character was drawn and modeled. That brings me to my biggest gripe about the film, the animation... You can tell they were really trying to stray away from the DCAU Superman animation and they went the wrong way. Although, I did like the Dark Haired Superman look. The best part of the film for me, was the fight sequences between Doomsday and Clone Superman, but that is it. I also hated to see Lex Luthor in this film, he had very little to do with anything in the Death of Superman storyline, but in this film he is made out to be responsible for the clone. 2 out of 5 stars. Justice League: The New Frontier(2008) Well here we are, this is what makes Bruce Timm & Company such great story tellers. Now, I haven't read the novel this is based off f, but if this isn't true to the novel, than damn am I ever anxious to read the novel. This film is just incredible, the animation is almost flawless and the voice acting is out of this world. When the voice casting of Jeremy Sisto was made for Batman, all I can think about was how well he did as Sinestro, but was fearing that not having Kevin Conroy, my hurt the film. Was I wrong and believe me I was glad. It was also fun to learn more about Hal Jordan and his first time becoming Green Lantern, up until now I've only seen and heard of Kyle Rayner(Superman: The Animated Series, Justice League TV Pilot)and John Stewart(Justice League, Justice League: Unlimited), so it was nice to discover more on this version. 5 out of 5 stars, easily the best of the 3 films I've seen. Batman: Gotham Knight(2008) Another hit from the animators that brought us the DCAU. Kevin Conroy returns as the voice of Batman and my only problem is that it tends to make it hard to separate it from the DCAU version of Batman. I'm not a fan of Anime either, but you tend to forget that as you watch the film. The first story is probably my least favorite, as it feels more like a remake of the Legends of the Dark Knight episode of The New Batman Adventures. The next story I thought was ok has to be Field Test, this is where Batman decides to wear a bullet proof outfit that winds up working too well and explains why he doesn't wear bullet proof vest i the field. Working Through Pain is one of those segments you can enjoy, but also skip and not miss much. Deadshot and In Darkness Dwells (Madhouse) are equally the best of the segments. The one thing that would have made this better than it already was, is if Christian Bale did the voice of Batman. This falls in between Batman Begins and The Dark Knight in the continuity. But WB wanted to make sure he'd be in a 3rd live action film. 4 out of 5 stars.
  12. I actually liked Texas Chainsaw Massacre and the prequel. They were dark and gritty and made themselves their own film, not a carbon copy remake like Psycho was. Its not better than the original and it dos tend to get graphic in its gore, but that is just the sign of the times. I'm 27 and while I will always love the first two TCM films that Tobe Hooper made, I don't mind the remake and prequel. Its different and that is what remakes are supposed to do, they are meant to take a classic tale and spin it in its own new direction. I just saw My Bloody Valentine 3D and thought that was good too, it again kept the initial story, but tweaked it a bit, so it was its own film for its own generation. Psycho was a film that did it all wrong, it remade the film shot for shot, with little to no modern changes, what is the point in remaking the film if all you're going to do it copy it step by step? I am actually looking forward to the new film, the guy they have playing Freddy looks like he may very well fill the part nicely, I just hope he has the acting talent to continue what Robert Englund perfected. I can't say the sequels will suck until I see what they do with the remake, it may be good, it may be a shitfest. I just hope that this new series hold up well to the original and learns from the mistakes the original series had done.
  13. Freddy has signed on for 3 films. http://www.bloody-disgusting.com/news/16621
  14. Here's the layout for the DVD and Blu-Ray releases. I had no idea that Kevin Conroy, Tim Daly and Clancy Brown would be voicing their DCAU characters again. Sounds cool http://www.dvdactive.com/news/releases/sup...ic-enemies.html
  15. That would be a great way to end the series, leaving it open to a possible spin-off too. Here's my cast list for a Metropolis TV Series; some would be series regulars, others would either be cameos or come on later seasons Tom Welling as Superman/Clark Kent Terrence Stamp as the voice of Jor-El Helen Slater as the voice of Lara Michael Rosenbaum as Lext Luthor Michael McKean as Perry White Erica Durance as Lois Lane Annette O'Toole as Martha Kent(cameos) James Marsters as Brainiac(cameos) Justin Hartley as Olver Queen/Green Arrow(cameo) Laura Vandervort as Kara/Supergirl(cameo) Phil Morris as J'onn J'onnz/Martian Manhunter Kyle Gallner as Bart Allen/Impulse/Flash(cameo) Alaina Kalanj as Black Canary(cameo) Alan Ritchson as ARthur Curry/Aquaman(cameo) I don't think Allison Mack will be moving onto that show, but if she does I would love to have her as a series regular. I don't want Kristen Kreuk in the series because she can't really act. Villains that would be awesome to come in are Metallo(I know he's supposed to come on the show in S9), Bizarro(this was a fun villain to see and the few the writers got right), Toyman(I actually liked this version of Toyman he was creepy), Darkseid (you can't have Superman finally on the small screen and not have one of his most challenging villains not come on the show). Heroes I would like to see on a new series; Batman(of course), Green Lantern(John Stewart or Kyle Rayner), Brainiac 5(if we had Supergirl come on for an episode she can meet him and they'd go back to the 31st Century), Wonder Woman,
  16. Tim Burton for his last few films has disappointed me a lot, compared to his earlier work(Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands, etc)he has went down a bit in quality. But this film is starting to look really good and I love the look Johnny Depp is sporting. So I hope that Burton is developing a good film, because the last time I felt like this it was for Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and that turned out be shit. 18. The police are now investigating the possibility of a drug overdose and are seeking to talk to Michael's doctor http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090626/ap_on_...michael_jackson
  19. Maybe there is a curse on the Presley family that leaked on Michael when he was married to Lisa Marie, kind of like the Lee curse
  20. Yes its true, as I was coming home from the hospital I heard on the news that after a few months or so of battling Skin Cancer Michael Jackson has passed away. He was rushed to the hospital earlier today for Cardiac Arrest and despite trying everything in their power the doctors were unable to revive him http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20090625/en_nm/us_jackson
  21. Wow, this list list must have been very time consuming and like most I just skimmed over it, but I did notice something. The Batman: TAS episode "Showdown" takes place in 1883 after the Justice League: Unlimited episode "The Once and Future Thing Part 2. " I know that the wrap around story in that episode takes place in the present with Batman and Robin trying to find Ra's Al Ghoul, but the majority (15 minutes or so)takes place in 1883.
  22. Horror of Dracula was the 2nd adaptation of Bram Stoker's novel, Nosferatu was the first and Bram Stoker's Dracula was the last. While they adapt it differently its from the same source. The Bela Lugosi and Frank Langella Dracula were adapted from a different source, but also differently. So in a sense it is, but considering they changed things up a bit, I guess you can argue the other as well. Either way you have to admit they are great adaptations, Christopher Lee and Gary Oldman are awesome and Max Schreck is just eerie. I love Coppola films too, he has a way of just knowing what angles to take and to set up a great atmosphere. The Godfather trilogy is one of my favorite trilogies.
