Watching Mad Men from the beginning (just found all of it that's been aired to this point and got it on the external hard drive), and I'm really liking it. Historical accuracy + various points of view (especially appreciate the parts with the women and minorities) + good writing = you should be watching this.

Again, very, very valid point. Last I knew, he was going for major NSF funding for a project, but that was back during either fall or winter term.

I'd like to think that the email flow is slightly reduced during the summer, however, this is an entirely valid point. I basically need this job, mostly to be able to pay the $700 a term tuition, and to be able to have a solid money base during the year, and it would be useful for the future, so the lack of response is kind of driving me up the wall.

Got to go up to Appleton today, which was nice. Stopped in at Powerhouse, and bought all the comics I had saved for me over the summer (cost about $130, but, frankly, at this point, I'm happy to give the guy who owns and now runs the store by himself the money). He's had to lay off the two employees who helped him out, and, unfortunately, business has been so slow that he has to close earlier on some days and is now, as I said, the sole employee. I want to see if there's some posters I can take down and post around campus for him, because he could probably rack up some business/loyal customers among the freshmen. He's such a lovely old man, and it's always fun talking with him when I'm out there.

I've been trying to catch this professor, who's the head of the Anthropology department at my university, so that I can talk with him about some possible openings for student jobs with the anthropology department. I've sent him some emails, left a message or two on his phone over the last two weeks in hopes that he'll pick up, and finally went into his office today in the hopes that he would be there, as I'd heard nothing. He wasn't. I mean, come on, at least send me a message or something to let me know that you won't be there if I'm driving a good two hours to try and see you for this job, which I kinda need. (Admittedly, he is in the Coast Guard auxillary, so that could be a part of it. But, still.)

*hugs* I'm sorry, I know this probably doesn't do much good, but, still. I went over and gave my mom a big hug after reading this, and trying to hide the fact that I was a little teary. To echo what's been said above, I'm here if you want to talk.

Just finished listening to this. I've never seen the director's cut, only the theatrical, and I remember not thinking much of it in middle school. So I'm probably going to try and seek out the director's cut now and give it a try, thanks to your guys' recommendations. Good show!

I go to college up there (Lawrence). So, I'm there nine months out of the year.

God, I can't wait for Thursday. Going up to Appleton, which means: -Getting all the comics I've had set aside for me over the summer (<3 Powerhouse) -Hopefully, the prof in charge of the anth department being in so that I can talk to him about a job with the department during the year -Maybe being able to get into my room, see what it looks like, and maybe rearrange furninture within -Seeing people I haven't seen for the whole summer -Seeing my dad for dinner, as I've not been able to see him for most of the last few weeks (major trial)

Sometimes, I really, really have to wonder about the intelligence level of the campers in state campgrounds. I had to call a ranger today so I could get wire cutters so that a guy could get a barbed fishing hook out of the skin between his lower lips and his chin. And it was completely barbed, even on the straight part. *facedesk*

Jesus God. Yeah, the ACen kids, especially the first timers are listening to this before we go in May. And I may add some ACen-specific things, such as: DO NOT SPANK RANDOM STRANGERS WITH THE YAOI PADDLE. (Has anyone outside of anime cons heard of this phenomenon)

I don't know how well this would go over, but do you have Spanish tutors that you could maybe review with? It might help a bit.
