Missy
Anyone who's visited Earth-2.net over the last week will see there are now ads on the site. (Hopefully they're not intrusive.) However, I've also been thinking about placing them (no more than two) on the forums. One would be to the right of the logo, the other at the very bottom of the page. I know other forums do this and it doesn't bother me, but what do you feel about this; would you mind seeing banner ads on the forums? (And just to be clear, ads would not appear in or between posts.)
Venneh
If there's a way they can be not that visible and/or not popups, I'd be fine with it.
Missy
No pop-ups, ever. EDIT: Also, I'll be making my decision within the next day, so don't hesitate to chime in. Edited July 9, 2009 by Yoda
Molly
Whatever makes it easier to pay for the site, dude.
dc20willsave
Ditto. Banner ads are a small price to pay for giving us all a way to waste time.
Missy
It should be said that I'm set on placing one at the bottom of the forums, so it's the one that would go at the top of the page that I want opinions on. Sorry I wasn't clear about that before.
Molly
Well, that changes everything. I mean, I'm still for it, but your clearly a despotic tyrant.
Venneh
Doesn't change. So long as it's not annoying, I'm good with it.
Guest DCAUFan1051
I'm actually distracted with the ad on the main page next to the logo... so I'd say no in the forums... but hey it's your choice.
Koete
I have no problem with ads on forums. Go for it.

Kscriv
Honestly, all these ads have me realizing something. There's monay on these Internets, and I want my cut, or I'm on strike buddy.
dc20willsave
Still don't mind as long as it's nothing flashing that I'm the 999,999,999th visitor and I won a free scam.
Missy
I don't have any control over the ads, but I don't think we'll see any of those kind.

SuaveStar
Don't mind. It's not really that bad, and if it helps keep the site running, then good. Mike, you can do whatever you want with the site, ads wise, but please don't do the page cuts to ad that you need to sign away from, as I really hate those. Guest
Saw an ad for my local comic shop on the main page two days ago, which just made the owner very excited when I told him, so he's going to start plugging the site for us.

MaxPower
The one at the bottom really doesn't phase me, and with the fast reply usage, it's actually the best position I feel. From a style point of view, I think you would be better served doing a side panel one instead of at the top, but that would require major changes to the site. But would allow you 2 adds instead of 1. As an aside, how easy was it for you to set-up your Google AdSense account for this? Or are you using a 3rd party?
Nicolette Opal
As an aside, how easy was it for you to set-up your Google AdSense account for this? Or are you using a 3rd party? I can answer this, as AdSense was the ad client I suggested after he started experimenting with other not-so-great ones. AdSense=super, mega easy. I use it as well for a website I run. Pretty idiot-proof, and seems to have quicker returns than other ad options.
Dread
So: You click on the ad to get money for the site?
Nicolette Opal
So: You click on the ad to get money for the site? Well, clicks and page impressions. It's kind of illegal to directly solicit clicks from your site's community...just as illegal as clicking your own ads...or refreshing your own page a whole mess of times...
