  1. I enjoy it very much, I find it pretty hysterical. Is The Gotham Chronicle coming back, Don?
  2. I'm committed to The Muppets, but the first episode left me a bit cold. I did laugh a few times, so we'll see.
  3. Danny Elfman is my favorite. All his Burton collaborations, his comic book stuff, Nightmare Before Christmas. Mychael Danna and Rob Simonsen did a great score in 500 Days of Summer, I'd be interested to hear other stuff by them. Michael Giacchino's a good one, very diverse in what he produces.
  4. Loved Madame Xanadu. The first three trades are some of my favorite Vertigo comics. The fourth lacks any sort of emotional impact to me. The 60s acid trip story was probably my favorite though, and I like how plot points from it led into the final issue.
  5. In regards to something Don said, yeah I found a huge issue with the sound mixing. Music was too loud and the dialogue was too soft. Unfortunate with how there was a lot of whispering and hissing going on. Why I watch TV with the closed captioning on.
  6. And here's our first look at Red Tornado.
  7. Booster and Beetle movie in development!
  8. Cause she was on the show for most of the time that I was watching it live (from season 7 on), she probably is "my" companion. I would agree that she stayed a little too long, but I'm gonna miss her regardless.
  9. The amazing Bill Sienkiewicz covers tricked me.
  10. Apparently it's written by Smith and Jimmy Napes.
  11. Daredevil 18 - A bit too short, probably should've had a higher page count, but still excellent. They did everything they should've done for the finale. And wow that last two page splash.
  12. Really gotta disagree with you on Immonen, Don. I could be biased, since he was the artist when I started reading USM, but I thought he was a worthy successor. I think his storytelling is excellent, and his art in general is just pretty. He's what's making the main Star Wars book so enjoyable for me. Just read a Filipino comic called Mythspace. It's a collection of six stories by one writer and a different artist for each, and it's all in black and white. Basically, it mixes Philippine myths and space opera. Really solid premise. In execution, not so great. The characters are all archetypes, but I never really got a sense of anything deeper. The storytelling is not all that coherent to me, and the writing's very wordy. This was Paolo Chikiamco's first professional comics work and it shows a bit. The art, on the other hand, is really cool. There's a pretty strong Japanese influence to it, and character design's consistently interesting. Koi Carreon did the first story, and I'd compare it to Scott Pilgrim. Paul Quiroga's work is closer to typical action-based manga. Jules Gregorio's art is of the dark and digital, Joe Madureira style. Mico Dimagiba does something close to European comics, or Yoshitaka Amano. Christina Chua's art is very cartoony, almost like storybook art. Borg Sinaban's my favorite of the lot, his artwork's really fun. Here's a pinup he did. I also uploaded some pages and covers on my blog. So yeah, I didn't hate it, (I enjoyed three out of the six stories) but I was disappointed. It being listed as volume 1 gives me hope that there's gonna be another one.
  13. I saw a commercial yesterday where the Avengers toys are saving a car from a buggy running into it. I noticed Black Widow wasn't there. I really hope Supergirl is a hit and sells tons of merch to show Marvel that female heroes can make money. DC/WB is not really any better at this. They cancelled Young Justice because too many girls were watching it. I don't have a link right now but I recall Greg Weisman and some other people in the know disputing this. http://twitter.com/Greg_Weisman/status/521172363329560578
  14. Batgirl Annual 3 - Great flow to it. Not a bad chapter in the whole lot. All the art was gorgeous too. Detective Comics 42 - Really like all this focus on the cops. Dunno if that's been covered much in the modern era, post-Gotham Central. Flash Annual 4 - Dug it. The history of Zoom and his lackeys. They're an interesting bunch. Art was nice too. Harley Quinn and Power Girl 2 - Gonna read the rest of this in trade. I love Harley, and the art's good, but this is hard to read. Superman 42 - I might enjoy this much more if JRJR wasn't drawing it. He draws a good Lois though, gotta give him that. ASM Renew Your Vows 2 - I picked it up from the stack and, after opening it up, realized that I'd already read it. Which might say something about how memorable it is. Love the art though. Darth Vader 7 - Good issue, but it doesn't feel weighty enough. Secret Wars 2099 2 - Another ehh series. I'm committed to it though. Spider-Verse 3 - Kinda hollow to me. Art was unappealing as well. Not sure if there's a Secret Wars book that's really grabbing me.
  15. I noticed that in Rogue Nation. I don't think I saw a single cut or bruise on him.
  16. RIP. Thank you for Nightmare.
  17. It's a bit sad how many adults I know who are younger than that issue. I am an old man. Get off my lawn. I'm a year younger than that issue. I'm two years younger than that issue.
  18. Still can't believe this is actually gonna happen.

    DC reboot

I'd noticed it with The Flash and Harley Quinn, but I just rolled with it. Both are getting a huge push in other media, they want to profit more, etc. And on the Marvel side of things, I'm willing to be that when Ms. Marvel comes back in a few months, it's gonna be $3.99.
  20. Leaving home soon, so I've been revisiting some books that I've wanted to for a while. Captain America Operation Rebirth - Really daring story. The followup, Man Without a Country, is great too. Daredevil/Spider-Man Unusual Suspects - Was working best when it was a crime drama. Didn't care for the turn for the supernatural at the end, at all. Art was a mixed bag. FF by Waid and Wieringo Vol 1 - Rarely has a comic made me laugh out loud as much as this. Genius. Wieringo's art occassionally has those stiff dollfaces that Capullo does, but it's still some of the best F4 art. And Mark Buckingham does a good job on his issues too. Kitty Pryde Shadow and Flame - Love it. More like this please. Batman Death of the Family - It plays like a typical Joker story, nothing new. I like the idea that the Joker wants to remove the Batfamily to strengthen Batman. Which he actually kinda succeeds at, in the end. I like this book, and I might like Endgame, but there really needs to be more variety of Joker stories. Hellblazer City of Demons - My favorite Constantine story right now. Doesn't hurt at all that Sean Murphy might be the best artist to ever handle him.
  21. Conitnued reading the first Aliens Omnibus. Nightmare Asylum was fricking amazing. The Female War was pretty good. Theory of Alien Propagation and The Alien were just there.
