  1. Godzilla vs Mothra - The 90s version. Ehh, it was entertaining enough. Bit surprised to see some bits from the original carry over, namely the environmental aspects and Godzilla being defeated. Mothra continues to be unimpressive, I really don't get how she's a classic monster. Battra's a bit cooler though. And yes, the 90s beam wars are in full effect here. Then again I'm not sure how Godzilla could fight two flying monsters otherwise.
  2. The Flash #46 - Really good. Zoom's a great villain. I hope to see some variety with the stories soon, though. Barry fighting time-traveling speedsters has been pretty much the only Flash story happening in the past year and a half or so. The Looney Tunes variant is wonderful, always nice to see Manapul draw the Flash. Darth Vader #13 - Gillen does well with his end of the crossover. Larroca's work is still as good as it's been. Daredevil #1 - Very mixed on this. Writing and art-wise, it's really well-done. Reading it...it may just be the growing pains of getting back to noir DD after the past 5 years or so of Waid's take, but I was a bit uneasy. Losing the supporting cast, minus the few pages of Foggy, felt wrong to me. Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur #1 - A delight. Great introduction to Lunella. Love the artwork, which is surprisingly not disappointing considering that Amy Reeder is on the creative team but not as the artist.
  3. I felt plenty of hope in that last scene, with the Trinity forming.
  4. I dug it but it felt a little too busy. I can see how Savage would be intimidating, but I didn't get much out of the acting. It was cool to see the Hawks on TV though.
  5. Closer look at the Black Panther suit.
  6. Affleck looks fantastic in the role, looks-wise. So, is a dream sequence the most likely scenario?
  7. I'm not really sure where I stand with the show. I'm a little fresher to the show than Don, I got into it late 2011 and caught up mid-2012. I still love it, I'm still looking forward to the new episode each week, I just got Vengeance on Varos and the TV movie on DVD.(Meaning I now have at least one of every Classic Doctor, woo!) But on the other hand, it doesn't set off the "A new episode!!!" feelings that it used to. Maybe I am taking it for granted, since I've never had to deal with a hiatus longer than the 8 months or so from the Christmas special to the next season. It could be that my friends have all cooled off on it, and that takes some of the fun out of it. But like Don said, I've never hated an episode before.
  8. Never thought I'd ever post here, since anime's really not my thing. But yeah, I finished the original Neon Genesis Evangelion yesterday. Watched it with my cousins, who'd seen it first run. Really dug it. It took a while to get going, but when it picked up, it was just engaging as hell. The characters can be extremely grating(one of my cousins has some choice words to describe Shinji) but I never really hated them. And when we got their backstories... The ending to the show didn't lose me, but then again I have the knowledge that there are two more movies so I know that the actual plot, as far as the Angels, was going to be resolved. (Somewhat, maybe, perhaps)
  9. Do you think that people are just getting burned out on Who? People aren't really getting excited, getting mad or even discussing the series much anymore. It's just become the show that people watch every Saturday and that's about it.
  10. I finished watching Evangelion about two hours before seeing this episode, so I don't know if I was more prepared for the mind games or even more confused. Another thing, I thought this episode was very well shot. The orange lighting with all the fog and shadows? Really nice.
  11. De:Tales - Hardcover collecting Fabio Moon's and Gabriel Ba's work. The stories were either done by one, the other, or both. There is a feeling of them getting the hang of storytelling, some stories felt so open-ended that I was left thinking "So that was it?" I can't deny though, that there is a lot of emotion to it, and the artwork is always gorgeous. I'd say this was a good primer for their work.
  12. 7 million viewers doesn't seem that bad.
  13. Great slow burn episode. Capaldi was amazing in this. And whether or not that was intentional, the Tom Baker impression was really helping.
  14. Batman volume 6 - Good compilation of all the various stories that wouldn't have fit anywhere else. The Clayface story was really good. That one Batman Beyond easter egg might've been going too far though. Godzilla in Hell #5 - Great book. Made my skin crawl. Ms. Marvel #1 - The new #1s have really revitalized the books. Dug the hell out of this. I like Donovan's comparison of the art team to Jock and Francavilla from Snyder's Detective run. I believe Ian Herring deserves more praise though, for keeping it all consistent. Spider-Woman #1 - I really have no idea why they're doing this whole pregnancy thing. The book's still well-written and drawn, but there's just that one thing that's distracting. Star Wars #12 - A good read, but then everybody starts wielding a lightsaber. Which is equally fun and dumb. Star Wars Vader Down #1 - BADASS. Deodato draws the best Vader.
  15. Not being able to say "fuck" every three sentences sure goes a long way in softening her image.
  16. The Peanuts Movie - Never really read the strip or watch any of the movies as a kid but I appreciate them more now. Adorable little movie. Animation's really good, and I like how they incorporate the comics into the movie.
  17. Gotta say, I'm finding the Kilgrave confrontations are starting to get repetitive. Probably the pitfall of having a single villain to fight.
  18. Shadow of the Batman - Five issue Baxter series reprinting the Englehart-Rogers(And Wein and Simonson) Detective run. I like Englehart's writing, but he's not my favorite of the 70s Bat-Writers. (That'll be the aforementioned Len Wein) Marshall Rogers, on the other hand, is one of the definitive artists for me. The stories were all pretty solid, but they capped it off fantastically with Laughing Fish. Englehart can write Joker dialogue better than almost anybody. The random backups weren't to my taste, but hey more Marshall Rogers art is never a bad thing. All-New All-Different Avengers 1 - Left a bit to be desired but the characters were spot-on. Loved the art on both stories. Ultimates 1 - Not into cosmic, but I dug this. Art was pretty too, if a bit stiff. Web Warriors 1 - Fun as hell, writing and art-wise.
  19. I just got to the end of episode 6 and---*shudders*
  20. The Livewire episode's the best so far. The action and all the character work was really good. You can tell this was out of order, but that's no issue considering why it was so.
  21. That pilot was probably even better than Daredevil's.
