  1. Maybe in Blevins' Sleepwalker work? I'd say that most of the time he's closer to Rick Leonardi, though.
  2. Yeah I'm waiting to see if the next one will make for a better whole. Maisie Williams was great though, it's always nice to see a GOT cast member doing something else. This mostly(if not all, I haven't been looking too closely) two-parters experiment is interesting, it reminds me of season 7's done-in-ones. Still not sure if it's working yet. I know some people have been saving episodes to watch them together, but I don't know if I could go without my weekly Doctor Who fix.
  3. It took me awhile but yeah, Captain Cold is one of the best parts of the show. He can take comic book-y dialogue and play it totally straight, which is awesome. He was the first to call Flash the Scarlet Speedster right?
  4. Lost at Sea - I'm still of the age where I can enjoy stories like this (like I heartily recommended Heart in a Box, which has a pretty similar plot) and be endeared at the pretentiousness. Bit annoyed by it sure, but I was, and still kinda am, that sort of person. But yeah, this was Bryan Lee O'Malley's first published comic, and he still hadn't developed his art style quite yet. Some of the storytelling didn't feel as effective as it probably was intended to be. But on the whole, I enjoyed this. I can't believe it took me this long to read an O'Malley book, I would've been all over this in high school.
  5. Half-Blood Prince was the worst of the movies, IMO. Which is doubly annoying for me, because I think it's the best of the books.
  6. Wait wait wait. So we have Mark Waid and Alan Davis doing an issue with Spider-Man? Well, looks like I'm reading SHIELD then. Sensation Comics #15 - The Jose Luis Garcia-Lopez(praise be his name) story was gorgeous, and fairly interesting for having her in a legal situation. The second story with the lion was alright. Superman #44 - Close to getting dropped. Probably will at #45. Sons of the Devil #5 - Didn't do enough to justify the 6 month hiatus. ASM #1 - Good collection of stories. The main story by Slott and Camuncoli was a decent set-up to the current status quo and had a fun chase. Spider-Island #5 - Pacing was a bit off, as the final battle ended way too soon. Still, the art was great and it's wonderful seeing Agent Venom again. I still don't know why Marvel took him in the direction that they have. Star Wars #10 - Still fun, more stuff from later on keeps happening but I've gotten used to it at this point. I say it every issue, but hot damn Stuart Immonen.
  7. The rumor's not true, according to FOX.
  8. Still not enamored of this two-parter. This felt like a pretty standard Scary Doctor Who Story. The directing was good and the guest cast was really interesting. Anyway, I'm very excited for next week's episode.
  9. Still kinda dour, but we're getting some nice plot progession here. Patty Spivot was a joy, she might be the best served female character yet. (Though the team has gotten better with them this season) Jay seems too young, but I can forgive that because he's got the right presence for the role, and they're doing something a little bit different from the comics.
  10. I'll be honest, I don't disagree with "With Bill Finger" all that much.
  11. "Here lies everything, the world I wanted at my feet, my victory's complete, so hail to the king"
  12. Godzilla in Hell #3 - Still wish that Stokoe got to do the rest of this series, but this was pretty good. It's always awesome to see SpaceGodzilla, and the Mothra angels were an interesting idea. Art was very inconsistent though. Eleventh Doctor #15 - Good finale to the first volume. The art was better than I've come to expect.
  13. So yeah, that really wasn't much huh? There were some funny lines, somewhat tense moments and good music, but really kinda skippable. Should not have been a two-parter.
  14. Watched the Rurouni Kenshin live action trilogy this weekend. Not an anime fan, but my cousins are, and they had fun seeing the story adapted well. I was really digging the characters and story. There are a lot of slow parts in the movies, the third really takes its time to get going, but once the action starts it's fantastic. This has some of the coolest fight scenes I've seen lately. The third has a fight involving four people against a guy with a sword that can burst into flames. I mean damn.
  15. So is anyone else gonna be at NYCC? I'm going Thursday and Sunday.
  16. This might be setting myself up for disappointment, but I'd like to see Mathieson be what Moffat was to RTD. And I like the Queen cover by Foxes. It introduced me to the song and to her.
  17. And it's the whole Daredevil team too. Matthew Wilson on colors and Joe Caramagna on letters. I hope this means an appearance by Matt Murdock at some point.
  18. The BBC just announced a spin-off called Class. So like, Gotham Academy in the Doctor Who universe?
  19. Cable and Deadpool Ultimate Collection Volume 1 - Fun, if somewhat decompressed. Deadpool's well written, good balance of humor and seriousness. Cable is a void of personality, to me. Artwork is fantastic. Mark Brooks did a good job in the first two issues but Patrick Zircher did amazing work. His Deadpool became iconic, and rightly so.
  20. Heart in a Box - Trade paperback of webcomics from Dark Horse. Quite an emotional journey. A great examination of heartbreak and depression. The artwork, while tough to understand at points, was very beautiful and effective for how character-driven this was.
  21. I'm a big fan of/something of an apologist for the Moffat era, but damn dude.
  22. True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys - Gorgeous art by Becky Cloonan. Story was alright, Danger Days is my favorite MCR album so it was fun to see more of the world. Blue was a great character. Sensation Comics 14 - Full length book featuring Strife and a couple other characters I don't recognize. Star Wars 9 - Practically drooling over Immonen's art. Luke's story is pretty interesting, though it feels better inbetween Empire and Jedi.
