IESB Exclusive: X-Men Origins: Wolverine Update! More Deadpool Added!

Written by Stephanie Sanchez

Thursday, 22 January 2009

Thanks to IESB reader DPfan (I am assuming he didn't think real hard about that handle – it means Deadpool fan right?) we've learned exclusively that more footage of the DEADPOOL character played by Ryan Reynolds has been added to the X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE film!

We are told Ryan Reynolds was busy a guy in Vancouver during the extra time the production spent there shooting some added footage for his Deadpool character! Apparently most of the footage shot included Reynolds and Wolverine himself, Hugh Jackman.

This isn't your mother's cameo...Deadpool is full on! Reynolds will appear in the film even more than originally planned!

Reynolds beefed up a la Blade Trinity for the role of the antihero to play opposite Jackman's Wolverine. The Merc with a Mouth can't have wimpy girlie arms next to that guy!

IESB has contacted 20th Century Fox for confirmation, will update if we hear anything so check back!

EDIT: forgot to mention how I felt about it... :urock: :urock: :urock:

Weapon XI looks like a composite of mutant abilities.

Very cool looking trailer. The whole film is going to be a collection of fanboy moments rather than a cohesive storyline but I'm fine with that. Was it just be or did the claws at the end look blatantly cgi? Have they stopped using the prosthetic ones?

That's pretty much what he is. There are rumors that he is actually Deadpool but I highly doubt that.

That would completely negate the potential Deadpool film, which would suck. He's a product of the same experimentation (implanting mutant abilities in humans) but Deadpool has to be separate.

Not entirely sure; could've just been the way the light was catching them.

Trailer looks very splodey, intriguing moments.

So, what, are they rounding up little mutant kidlets and using them to create the deformed ultrapowerful mutant thing we saw in there briefly? And wouldn't Cyclops remember meeting Wolverine when he was younger, unless there's memory suppression going on?

Also, I think Deadpool's the one with the machetes/short swords? He's not deformed at this point, though, which raises questions. That, or they're just trying to make him all pretty like.

So, anyone else thinking this may be a major retcon in order to open up an avenue for more movies?

I'm thinking Cyke will get some memory suppression just like most of these characters.

Deadpool starts out pretty but gets messed up when they give him the healing factor. I'm presuming that they will use this event during the film to illustrate the science behind the creation of Mutant XI. I'm presuming this is also what causes Sabretooth to degenerate into what he becomes in X-men, presumably during a fight with Logan he gets dosed dosed with a bunch of his own mutant abilities on top of what he naturally has, turning him into the big giant dimwitted lackey that be becomes. Of course for a future X-film he could get that reversed and Schrieber could play him again, since he's supposed to have survived that film.

I like the Black & Silver Metal Marvel Logo... I'll have to find a image of that. The film looks good, it's a period piece but it looks like a good one.

If what the link that Venneh gave me is true, and I've seen it in more than one place now, then I give up on this movie. Seriously, they had an ok story already set up, but they wanted to find a way to throw in more characters and ended up changing the whole plot to fit them in.

Adding Cyclops, Deadpool , Gambit, Emma Frost,

Professor X

, and whoever else they added for the hell of it ruined this movie.
