  1. I've heard a lot of people gush about how awesome and badass a villain Dr. Doom is, but, having never been a Fantastic Four fan, have never really understood why. What would be some trades to pick up for some good Doom stories?
  2. Does anyone else here think that Red Skull might eventually come back, given the way he exited this film?
  3. Just saw it and by and large liked it. Weaving, Tucci, and both Jones' (Tommy Lee and Toby) were all great but I didn't enjoy it as much as Thor or X-Men: First Class, in part because Steve Rogers was much less interesting than the protagonists of those films and the co-stars of his own, and because of the aforementioned misunderstanding bullshit. Nonetheless, Evans did the best with what he was given. On a completely different note, that WWII advert song was way too long and extremely grating.
  4. Frankly, I think they should give Batman a break after this film and concentrate on making franchises centered around characters who aren't DC's big two. I'd love to see a Dick Grayson-centric franchise in a different continuity, beginning with him becoming Robin and maybe ending with him forming the Titans, becoming Nightwing, or even becoming Batman permanently.
  5. As though Spider-Man 3 wasn't advertised as having the former two qualities.
  6. You got me. How does it not look child-friendly?
  7. Some early reviews: http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/captain-america/
  8. [edit] Disregard previous post. We will be recording the weekend of August 5th.
  9. No, I think he said words to the effect of "I'd do my stoner voice, but I really don't care" for that one.
  10. You did it for "Hawk and Dove" as well, and I'm pretty sure at least one Teen Titans episode.
  11. Any guesses as to what they're chanting in the background?
  12. Maybe they showed different trailers in the UK from the US. I was in the right country, went to the film twice, and all I got was "Happy Feet 2", "Sherlock Holmes", and "Cowboys & Aliens".
  13. Was that Gordon in the hospital bed? I haven't to see a good quality video of it yet.
  14. Even so, its snout doesn't look quite the same as other sharks, though more so in other drawings of it then the CGI one I posted and even more so in the one I posted in response to Preston's comment. As for crocs... https://sites.google.com/site/paleofilescom/mesozoic-crocodilians. Look specifically at Allodaposuchus and Deinosuchus, since they're eusuchians (true crocodilians). They're not as weird as the other creatures in the article but different enough from their modern relatives. Incidentally, I wrote the article so feel free to let me know how bad or good it is. Sorry for bringing this thread off topic.
  15. You'd be hard-pressed to find any modern-looking sharks in the fossil record before the Late Jurassic. This is the most normal-looking one from the same time period as the anvil-finned one.
  16. I know this is tangential, but here are some really early sharks from the Devonian and Carboniferous periods (416-359 million years ago and 359-299 million years ago, respectively): (Stethacanthus) (Helicoprion) (Edestus) Not quite the same design for the past 400 million years. I don't want to come off as rude or diminish the status of sharks as killing machines by pointing that out. I'm just such a huge paleontology freak that I couldn't ignore your post.
  17. And yet a fish that has to eat a few thousand pounds of meat each week in order to survive is? They kinda establish in Jaws The Revenge that the Shark has enough of a mind where it fucking swims a few hundred miles to go after one woman and her remaining family. I'd count that as evil and villainous. Fair point. I've only the seen the original and I'm pretty sure all the shark attacks are some distance from the coast, but then again I've only seen it once.
  18. And yet a fish that has to eat a few thousand pounds of meat each week in order to survive is?
  19. I doubt very much that the monster can swim. Not to mention that the shark weighs a few tons vs. the monster's few hundred pounds.
  20. The shark would kill the monster with one bite, but the monster is a better villain so he gets my vote.
  21. It is a little irritating that they haven't really used a different art style in these outside of New Frontier, the rest have been fairly standard with moderated character models, they're all for the most part done in the Young Justice style. That being said, it's a great style. Not necessarily. Superman Doomsday's style is DCAU-lite, All-Star Superman and the Superman/Batman movies have distinct styles lifted pretty much from the material, with a few tweaks here and there, and Gotham Knight alone has six very different styles. You're right, though, that they've kind of been lazy with the animation style of everything else since The New Frontier.
  22. Was Bold Beginnings the last episode or will the season end up having thirteen episodes like most animated series (to date it has nine)?
