  1. Yay! Just think of the fun situations we could get ourselves involved in Des if you moved to Glasgow! I mean sure we would get into tight spots, but we'd always get out of them with hilarious concequences. I already have a theme song.... Don't drive him away from the British Isles!!! On a serious note, the UK system seriously isn't that much better. The upswing is that the three main parties all hate each other so much that there's unlikely to be a coalition government. Local councils, sure, but not in parliament..
  2. Well, there are about a million less puns in Batman Forever. Seth Rogan surely?
  3. I don't actually know a lot of their stuff. I like Just Because (obv.) and Been Caught Stealing, otherwise I'm not really bothered. In defence of Perry Farrell, he's not a bad singer for hire, as the Chef Aid album proved. If we're talking about music appeal, why is Madonna still famous? Why can't people say "No, you haven't made a good record since the 80s, please go away" to that deluded, gap-toothed bint?
  4. Gotta love the idea that the Dutch would get so wound up over beach space! Football is kind of understandable, given that it's Europe's favourite sport, and the war did piss quite a few people off ([/understatement), but beach space?!?!?!?
  5. Erm, that podcast you contribute to has played those very "artists" that you speak of.....
  6. That, and I try not to record at 2AM. FYEO #2 is a good case study of why you shouldn't.
  7. Great, I have to list all the times Adham sings now....
  8. This is the best sentence I'll read all week.
  9. Episode #258 will have an outside shot at an award then!
  10. The last awards show. (#197) Jenny wasn't on that show, but it might have been 198. She cameo-ed when she heard her name being mentioned.

    The Music Thread

George Harrison - My Sweet Lord/Got My Mind Set On You The Stone Roses - The Stone Roses The Kinks - Singles Collection David Bowie - Best of Bowie (yet no Ashes to Ashes for some reason) RATM - RATM
  12. Coincidentally, I have more time for Comic Reel-lief contributions this month.... EDIT: Could we change Best New Podcast Segment to Best Podcast Segment? Off the top of my head, the only new Podcast Segs are Waiting for the Trades and Brainscan, whereas all segs would fill the category out to three. That and I don't know how a Comic Reel-lief seg would get recognition on the off-chance that people would vote for my hyper-English reviews.
  13. Alllllllllllllllllllllllllllrighty then.
  14. Until I have a 40 minute podcast devoted to my perceived homosexuality, I will never reach the Seagull echelons.
  15. I feel your pain, Des. A cabbie has more than likely stolen mine. And all the police can say is "put an advert in the paper, in case there's some stuff on there that you really want back". In a misguided attempt at sympathy, the British Constabulary have branded me a pervert.
  16. Are you saying Hitler wasn't gay? 'cause that neat little mustache and uniform fetish say different. I used him as an example as tolerance towards homosexuality rather than any possible effeteness he displayed.
  17. Question: On a scale of 1-10 of gay (1 being Hitler, 10 being Liberace), where do I rank for still digging the Billy & Chuck entrance music today?
  18. Or at all. But I can give thanks that Puritans have been out of my country since the 17th century.
  19. My workplace bans the mainpage due to Gambling as well. The forums are fine but I can't access the mainpage at work.
  20. I don't deny that, I just wonder whether that makes the episode thoroughly detestable.
  21. Damn, I'm surprised with the Once Burned scores. Granted, I didn't immediately twig that Terry had actually slept with Melanie, but to say this episode is on par with the Terrible Trio?!? Did the Ten dilemma seriously rank with three rich douchebags being douchebags? Or Batgirl lassoing a giant mechanical dinosaur (for that 0.5 Mean Seasons trainwreck)? It's totally your call to make obviously, but to grade the episode so low on an implied event is weird. Gunfight is less defensible (although I'd argue that Terry, being an immature Batman without the no-guns policy that Wayne always had, wouldn't have realised and/or minded the implications as much as Bruce) but I really doubt Terry & Melissa slept together if only for the dialogue with Max afterwards. "I wish I knew" doesn't imply anything as serious as Terry instigating a full-on one night stand and Max as much as addresses the fact that the uncertainty isn't fair on Dana, so Terry's feelings don't go unnoticed. I dunno, maybe I have to watch it again, but I really didn't mind this episode at all. Of course, it could be my personal bias towards George Lazenby and his wonderful 5 lines of dialogue!
  22. Hey we've got Batman Returns, Forever and & Robin still to do, not to mention Superman III, IV and Supergirl if Mike & James fancy branching out! But it is off-set by the Nolan Batman films and the Donner Superman films. Then again, as I think I've mentioned elsewhere, I still don't really know if Batman Returns is a good film or a bad film. Either way, I don't see a return to the fits of laughing style as displayed during 258 until the Schumacher films, and even then....
  23. When I was 16, I did an expeditionary scheme called the Duke of Edinburgh Award (named after the Queen's racist husband). As none of my immediate friends were interested, I mixed in with 4 sportier guys than me. I knew all of them pretty well, so there was no tension or anything, but I was often the only one who took an interest in plotting our group's hike route from the co-ordinates provided. The rest of my group, with knowing irony, called me the lazy member of the group, which is how I became known as Sloth. And my name's Ian, so I linked the two words together. It shouldn't be confused, not least rhymed, with the Scottish district of Lothian.
