  1. Why? They did well with Dr. Octopus in Spider-Man 2, so it seems they could pull off OR.
  2. Maniac Mansion. Watch the hamster explode with graphic realism... and it was just a fun game. But please don't make us take Dave along.
  3. In his latest column, Brent Bozell writes: I disagree. The reason Spider-Man is an inspirational character is because of his personal demons. He has these amazing powers, but he can't pay the rent, can't have a girlfriend for fear she will be targeted by his enemies, and can't study enough to get good grades because he's too busy protecting innocent people from criminals. Yet he keeps plugging away, because "with great power comes great responsability." I do agree that Daredevil, while an enjoyable movie, was too dark. Daredevil should not be killing criminals. He should be a hero that respects life and believes in the justice system. In fact, during one comic storyline in the 1980's, Daredevil fought Spider-Man to stop a vicious beating Spider-man was giving a serial killer, even though that killer had murdered a good friend (and mentor) of Daredevil.
  4. Since I haven't played the game, I can only offer a generic opinion. If the game offers "templates" that are identical or nearly identical to Marvel's property, they have a point. However, a video game company that offers the option to create characters cannot control the actions of the people who play the game. Hopefully, this one will be thrown out. By the way, doesn't one wrestling video game give you the option of creating characters that look almost exactly like Marvel/DC superheroes?
  5. The "Avengers Finale" was great as well. The lack of an Avengers team ties in quite well to the "Thunderbolts" reunion.

    Identity Crisis

I won't spoil the surprise, but it was revealed at the end of issue #6 who killed Sue Dibney. It is quite a shock, as well as the other thing that the heroes did when they lobotomized Dr. Light.
  7. I voted Doom. Vader has The Force, but Doom cancels that our because he is one step behind Dr. Strange to be Earth's Sorcerer Supreme. Doom's armor makes him physically stronger (and more durable) than Vader, and Doom has longer-range weaponry. And Doom defeated the Beyonder.

    The New Avengers

I don't have a problem with Wolverine in the Avengers. The X-Men books are too closed off from the rest of Marvel. Spread mutants around a bit. It would be better, though, if it were Beast instead of Wolverine.
  9. OK, Hawkeye "dies". There's no body, so he's not dead. Even if he is dead, will he stay dead? Respectfully cynical,
  10. I rented The Punisher over the weekend. While it was significantly better than the horrid 1989 version, it was not anything special. Don't get me wrong, here, for an action movie, it is pretty good. But the problem with translating "The Punisher" from comic book to silver screen is that you wind up with a movie not much different from dozens of others out there. While Spider-Man or The Hulk offers something unique, The Punisher goes over ground that has been covered many times. Criminals kill Frank Castle's family, critically wound him, and leave him for dead. When Castle recovers, he goes on a whirlwind of revenge. That's basically the same plot as 1990's Hard to Kill. The "revenge" motive also played a large part in Death Wish, released thirty years before The Punisher.
  11. Juggernaut. This one isn't even a contest. Jason can heal most any injury, as explained in Jason X. But he's still trapped in a body that can be harmed. Juggernaut, meanwhile, can survive anything short of a nuclear bomb and can lift well over 100 tons. Juggernaut will squish Jason to paste in under ten seconds. If it is Cyborg Jason vs. Juggernaut, the fight would last longer.
  12. Oh, dear. If Vince reads this, he might actually think a Superman/HHH match would be a good idea and we'll have Wrestlecrap in the making. If they can't get the rights to use the character, they can just modify him, the way WCW did with Spider-Man/"Arachnaman".

    Identity Crisis

Yes, but they also pick up a lot of stories from the AP wire.
  14. Here's another reason Catwoman took in more money than the Punisher: Catwoman is rated PG-13, while Punisher is rated R. Generally speaking, movies tend to make less money the higher the rating is. Someone said in the commentary for Resident Evil that they knew there would be pressure to make it a PG-13 film to make more money. Even Alien vs. Predator was PG-13. (Which was pretty dumb.)
  15. I agree, putting Hayden Christiansen in Jedi is a horrid decision. The less we see of Jar Jar, the better. But I wouldn't mind adding a flashback scene with Amidala & Leia.

    It made CNN too. http://www.cnn.com/2004/SHOWBIZ/books/09/1...o.suffering.ap/
  17. It's not cracking jokes that did the character in. A wisecracking Freddy is cool; Freddy is mocking his victims, knowing that he has them right wher he wants them and they can't survive his attack. But trying to make Freddy "funny" got very lame when it went over the top.
  18. Had a chance to watch "Nightmare on Elm Street 6" a couple weeks ago. Now I remember why this series ended after this movie. Freddy was scary in parts 1 and 2, and then was both cool and scary in part 3. Then, in part 5, his credibility as a horror villain took a major hit when he was riding on a skateboard. When Freddy was riding a broomstick in a tornado (a parody of "The Wizard of Oz") the character went on life support. Having Freddy play a video game (exclaiming "Now I'm playing with power!" and turning his glove into a twisted version of the horrid NES "Power Glove") in order to kill one of his victims was what killed the character. It's too bad, because the movie provides some interesting back story on Freddy's childhood, teenage years and his wife & daughter. But the movie, overall, was just lame.
  19. Does anyone know where I can find a detailed rundown of the storylines of the various "Resident Evil" games?

    Identity Crisis

The series is on issue #3. #4 comes out next week.
