  1. Man, you really need to watch better Kung Fu movies. Believe me I have tried, I just don't have that interest and when I see a Kung Fu film like the ones I've described it makes me want to tear my hair out. I know it's a Kung Fu movie, so we are gonna get mostly fighting, but why not give us a different storyline, or better the already established storyline. When I was a security guard, most of the people in the building that I was working at were Kung Fu fanatics and whenever they put s film on in the TV room, I would cringe at the sound of the films, I would occasionally go in there and it looked like a bootleg film, but it was an official copy, than I would see them jump so high and fast that they'd be flying and I would just be saying to myself, COME ON! Realism please. If you could give me a few titles to watch and they aren't like that I would like to rent them and see if there is a difference. Thanks...
  2. I knew I wasn't making that up! That's a great point! I cheated I watched the episode "Cold Comfort" early, I will rewatch it when the time comes, but I was wrong. It is said that after Nora was cured Freeze never attempted to see her. She finally gave up waiting for him and married her doctor. Later Freeze says that he didn't go see her because he didn't feel he could with his body deteriating so quickly. Sorry for the confusion.
  3. Well, it feels like forever since I was able to listen to another episode of WFP, but the waiting is over. Sadly I can't find my VHS copy of Batman and Mr. Freeze: Subzero, so through memory I will add comments to what I hear on this episode. As soon as I buy this on DVD I will return and make my own thoughts on this. For one, I hate you guys, lol I got nothing for Christmas and you got a kids dreams worth of movies and video game stuff, but hey good for you. My holiday season has just sucked. Same with New Years. If you wanna save money on movies in the theaters than please email me and I'll give you 2 websites. I enjoyed Static Shock, but The Zeta Project I never watched, hopefully Zeta Project will be released, because I do have plans to buy those two series, if anything by the time you are reviewing them. In terms of the sub that crashed Freezes cave. That might have been a search party of sorts. Or maybe the military had no idea yet that they were killed. I believe Tara Strong plays the voice of Batgirl in Gotham Knights and Melissa Gilbert played the voice of Batgirl in the B:TAS. Robin's difference in personality in this one can probably mean that this episode takes place not too long before "Old Wounds". By this time Dick is at his wits end with Batman and acting out of character, closer to his Nightwing persona. The cure aspect of the story, could be possible. Mr Freeze has been in the Arctic for a while and away from anything to keep him up to date with Medical Advances. Perhaps during this period of time, they discovered a cure for the problem. Mr Freeze after all put her in Cryogenic state so they can take their time finding a cure. I do love the Danny Elfman Batman movie theme, when I first saw this films trailer, it had a theatrical appeal. Perhaps Freezes suit lost some of its energy or juice and that's why the ice began to melt. In Gotham Knights Freeze does mentioned that he made an attempt to be back with Nora, but after she discovered everything he did, she didn't want him at all. He was torn from this and that is his motivation for his plan in the Gotham Knights episode he was in. That was a terrible episode anyway, lol. I think that Batman has known all along that Barbara is Batgirl, after all Barbara asked him to go to the ralley and help her father and when he says no, all of a sudden a Batgirl appears, you don't have to be a detective to figure that out. With this film, it isn't Mask of the Phantasm, but it holds up well. Warner Brothers should have released this in theaters, it would have looked great on the big screen. I give this 6 out of 10
  4. They never say, Alex Vincent retired from acting after part II, made occasional appearances in TV and film. Originally Child's Play III took place a year after Child's Play II, but because Alex Vincent said no they decided to age him to age 16. Reports have said that for the sequel they have made attempts to get Alex Vincent to return, but so far hasn't worked. If he was to return to the remake he would probably take Chris Sarandon's role of the Police Detective Norris.
  5. I know, I'm coming out the woodwork with these movie news. But yeah, I have been keeping track of this since it first was announced. I thought the original was pretty decent, I've only seen it once, because of it's availability on TV, but when I did I liked it. With TCM, Halloween, Black Christmas and soon Hellraiser and Child's Play being remade, it was a matter of time before they would knock on this door. The trailer is on the net now and it looks pretty decent. It doesn't hide the identity of the killer like it did in the original, which in a strange way makes it creepier. Head over to youtube and you'll be able to find it Prom Night will be out sometime in the Spring.
  6. OMG, if it's not a remake, they shouldn't even associate with Enter the Dragon. The film will flop because of that comparison. They just don't know how to leave classics alone. Let Bruce Lee R.I.P! I hate Kung Fu films, it usually has one motive a students teacher is murdered and he must defend the honor of the temple and than suddenly for no good reason they can fly at each other. Not to mention most Kung Fu films are made with thr poorest film quality available. But Enter the Dragon was a masterpiece, Bruce Lee wanted nothing, but the best and he got it here. To remake or update it is wrong, it's like remaking Citizen Kane(like someone else jokingly pointed out here)or Rocky, you can't do it.
  7. Ok well here I go with my Movie geek'um Now director Paul Verhoven is an excellent director, but like most excellent director he has duds, here's my lineup: Basic Instinct, is by far one of his most impressive pieces of work, it doesn't have action or explosions, but it has suspense, erotism and cat and mouse. It takes the best elements from films like Fatal Atrraction and hightens it to Paul Verhoven's talent. Not to mention we have the very beautiful Sharon Stone in the role. I still haven't seen part II, but I heard it's a film to avoid. The unrated version adds a little more, but not too much. This is a great film to sit down and watch, but don't let yourself get distracted or you might miss something. Flesh & Blood haven't seen, sorry. Hollow Man, I've only seen this film once and in my opinion this is a weak attempt at remaking a modern day Invisible Man story and adding blood and a little more storyline. This is one of his duds and a very poor choice in films for Kevin Bacon. Robocop, now this is the film that woke my eyes up to Paul Verhoven's directing ability, not to mention Robocop himself. It was made and released before Batman or The Punisher, so at that time Superhero types(even though he isn't classified as a superhero, I was 7)were goody goods and did everything by the book. So to have a hero like Robocop jump on the screen and take no BS, was cool. I didn't name is a favorite, because I do love Total Recall a little more, but this is my 2nd favorite. Showgirls, okay bring out the ultimate dudm I'm sorry I already did that with Hollow Man, lol. This film in my opinion isn't as bad as most critic have made it out to be, the sets are great, the story is decent, but the acting was cheesy at times, overdone at times(mostly by Elisabeth Burkley)and the story last too long. This film was a break out film for Ms Burkley who wanted to shed her good girl image of Jesse Spano(from Saved By the Bell) and chose(just like Alyssa Milano in Poison Ivy II)to do it this way. I have VIP edition, which features a number of drinking game excessories, games, etc. It's no where near a favorite, but visually its a decent film. Starship Troopers, now I don't like bug films, I think that from a film history stand point the big bug films of the 50's was horrible, but this is a terrific film. All the actors were in place, the Special Effects were terrific and we have future Batgirl/Oracle Dina Meyer sacrificing herself and showing us guys a great side of her. Michael Ironside (future General Lane) is always one of my favorite bad guys and in this one he kicks ass as a good guy with a stick up his butt. And we have future voice of Peter Parker/Spider-Man Neil Patrick Harris finally getting over his once Doogie Howser image(although, he's still a wiz). Great film all around. Notice all the superhero connection too. Total Recall, probably my favorite Paul Verhoven film out there. Arnold Schwarzenegger is great, Sharon Stone is perfect and a B****. Michael Ironside once again if you manage to cast him in a film, make him a bad guy or a bad ass, you can't lose. Great, just great.
  8. I liked it too, don't get me wrong. I like all of them to some extent and Bride of Chucky is my favorite sequel. This my list from best to worse: Child's Play(1988) Bride of Chucky(1998) Child's Play II(1990) Child's Play III (1991) Seed of Chucky (2004) Oh and Return of Chucky is just one of the few names the studio might go with. It was being called at one point Revenge of Chucky. Most likely we will get the remake first though, seeing that David Kirschner and Dan Mancini are looking forward to the remake. Either way Brad Dourif is ready for either one(although, he's only been cast in the sequel).
  9. So far info on this, has been hush hush, unless your a fan of the series. Grant it with every sequel the films have gotten worse. Bride of Chucky decided to change it up a bit, by adding more comedy than the previous movies. Seed of Chucky went way overboard with it and pretty much killed the series. As a loyal fan of Chucky himself a part of me is looking forward to this film, but another part of me isn't. I hope that they decide to go back to the basics of the original. So far the date for its release has been made for October 30th 2008, but it can always change. Brad Dourif will return as the voice, I'm not sure if Jennifer Tily has officially signed on yet, but if Tiffany is a part of the film she most likely will be. This coincides with a possible remake of Child's Play which has been brewing almost as long as this sequel. Brad Dourif is expected to reprise his voice for this film too. Here's to hoping.
  10. Will we get any appearances from Team Knight Rider or have they just thrown that continuity out the window.
  11. Well maybe David Hasslehoff(as Michael Knight) will be the Devon Miles for the new Knight Rider.
  12. Actually, Superman saving the plane in S:TAS and Superman Returns was most likely an homage of John Byrne's Superman: The Man of Steel miniseries. Cool, thanks for the knowledge. I still need to bone up on my Superman comic smarts. I just thought it was funny how Superman in both the Pilot and movie ripped the wings off of both planes.
  13. Yes, it seems that director Richard Donner wants to bring the team back together for one "FINAL" film. From what I understand Mel Gibson was offered 25 to 30 million dollars to reprise his role and he is on board. Meaning that anyone knowing about the 3rd installment of the Mad Max series will have to wait longer for that. Danny Glover says he wants nothing to do with the sequel and this might mean that Chris Rock will be returning as Lee Butters. No word on if Joe Pesci, Renne Russo or any of the other series regulars will be back, but from the look of things it is in fact going to happen. Wikipedia hasn't got an official page on it, but it is optioned to add on to it. What do you think about this sequel being made? Me, I'm kind of excited, I mean no one had faith that Sylvester Stallone can come back in the Rocky role and make it as good as it was, but he did. Rambo IV and from I've seen Indiana Jones IV is looking good. So I say, let's just scream out what Murtock and Riggs said in Lethal Weapon IV "I'm NOT too old for this shit"
  14. I really didn't hate Daredevil. Of course it was flawed, and in some areas very Crow-lite, but at the same time it was packed with nice references to classic DD moments and the fight sequences were really good aside from the final one with the Kingpin, and even then I don't really know how I'd go about improving that. Plus I hear the Directors Cut removes the utterly needless fireside love scene. Of course I really liked Hulk as well so how much can you trust me? Mutant poodles and fuzzy incompehensible endings aside, it was packed with unique style and was much closer to how the hulk should be on screen than I thought they would get. I also thought Superman Returns was good. OK, maybe there was too much liberty taken with the basic settings of a Superman story but I can't fault the performances or the modern CGI realisation of the Man of Steel. The whole plane catching sequence was jaw dropping. I do hope that the next film introduces a classic villian besides Lex though. Not that Lex shouldn't be in it. I am going to say- 10. 300 9. Ghost in the Shell 8. Batman 7. Batman Returns 6. Blade 5. The Crow 4. Sin City 3. X-Men 2 2. Batman Begins 1. Spider-man 2 Sue me, I liked the Tim Burton Batman. If it hadn't been for that I wouldn't have realised there was anything but the old 60's series. First the DD: Director's Cut makes more sense, it's also more adult. That's why it's R Rated and not just a regular Director's Cut that's unrated. The removel of the Matt/Elektra love scene, made it more of depressing setting for Matt. I always felt like in terms of film, DD is like the Marvel version of Batman, yes he has a power of sorts and Batman doesn't, but his greatest strength is him always having to be alone. I would definately get the Director's Cut, but don't throw away the 2 disc Theatrical Cut. I grew up in the 80's and loved the Bill Bixby/Lou Ferrigno series very much. Although, I know they changed things around a lot so it made more sense for a realistic type setting, I could never get over how The Hulk film was done. The film could have been so much better. It's like they paid so much attention to the CGI, special FX, etc that they forgot to look over the story. Grant it, it's not the worse film adaptation I've seen from Marvel(Generation X was), it could and should have been handled better. I also hated the Comic Book type screen splits, but I have to still give them points for trying. Superman Returns was good, my problem with it was the overuse of references to the original Superman. You can clearly see that the writers were fans of the original film and too some extent the second film. I hated how CGI Superman looked in the outfit(I don't mean when he's flying). The biggest gripe that I'm most people had was the little boy being Superman's kid and Lois knowing this. At the end of Superman II, Lois is given the Superkiss that made her forget everything, so how does she remember that her and Superman slept together. Not to mention that throughout the film, the kid has so many medical problems it's kind of hard to believe that all of a sudden puberty would come when they really needed it. The film was still better than Superman III and IV. I think the plane sequence was an homage to the Bruce Timm DCAU Pilot episode of Superman: TAS.
  15. I think that rebooting The Incredible Hulk film was so they could connect it with another Marvel film. Iron Man being set in the same continuity with The Incredible Hulk will make it easier to mesh them together in an Avengers movie.
  16. It was a comic book first. And I don't think Jolie is attached to Sin City II at this point in time. That sucks, having Dawson and Jolie in one movie together, would be great. The original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie is number 10 on my list, its better than The Punisher.
  17. I thought Vin Diesel retired from acting since he hasn't done anything lately. He's been working in the video game business. Wasn't the last movie he was in The Pacifier? This will be the last film, just to tie all the loose ends. Vin Diesel was only in the 3rd one, because it was originally supposed to be his sequel film. When they decided to go the direction they did, they decided just as a connection with the first two films would be him in a cameo. Tokyo Drift sucked though
  18. Yea, I thought the Theatrical Edition was good, but when I saw the Director's Cut, I found myself liking it even more. Ben Affleck was great in it and Jennifer Gardner seemed to light the room up, when she was with him. I felt bad when I saw Elektra and saw how terrible that was. I still haven't seen the Director's Cut of that, so maybe that will also be better. I also loved Michael Clarke Duncan as The Kingpin(a role he reprised in the animated MTV CGI Series Spider-Man), I found him much better than John Rhyes Davies performance in Trial of the Incredible Hulk.
  19. I was originally going to put the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film on my list, but wasn't that a cartoon first, than it became a comic? Sin City looks exactly like the comic book, beause that's what co-director/comic book creator Frank Miller wanted. Can't wait for Sin City II, does anyone know if Angelina Jolie has decided to do it, I know Rosario Dawson, Jessica Alba and Bruce Willis are returning, I'm not who else.
  20. I just think that for me it holds up well. I think that the score of the movie is one of the best, the sets and the dark setting of the film is great. The performances are good, a little Edgar Allen Poe at times, but nothing wrong with a little poetry type speech. If this was made today, it would have more gore, more CGI and everything else used in these dark atmospheric films of today and I liked that it didn't. Little CGI was used, not much blood, it also had a killer soundtrack..and remember I wasn't a fan of much of the 90's rock scene(grudge rock in particular).
  21. Ok well which one is your top ten, the second set looks good, but your first set is critically considered(and by me) the worse, with Howard the Duck being the worse of them
  22. Well Spider-Man II is better than Spider-Man, that would be # 8, but I wanted to avoid putting two films in the same series on my Top Ten.
  23. This film was most certainly overhyped. It was a big thing, because it was the first DC Animated movie to get a PG-13(which Return of the Joker almost got until trimmed down). When I finally bought the film, I was very excited. I already had the expectation that it wouldn't as memorable as the series itself, I mean at under 80 minutes, putting together a collection of time honored stories together is hard if your only going to do 1 movie. The biggest problem I had, was not the voice acting(although it did get irritating sometimes), it wasn't the animation(although, the 50 year old Superman was bad). It was that this was Produced by Bruce W. Timm! The man who helped give us 15 years worth of great animation. This is also based off of one of the greatest, if not THE greatest stories of all of DC Comic history, The Death of Superman and The Reign of the Supermen. This should have been delt with a bit more respect. I am still looking forward to Justice League: New Frontier, which looks like it will be a better film. I did like the look of The Toyman, it's kind of hard to determine which is more of a creepy look. Superman: TAS look or Superman: Doomsday look. 5 out of 10, the fights were pretty good, but damn how many citizens were killed in the fights, lol.
  24. Now I know I am like 3 years late on this reply, but here is my thoughts on this version of the story: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Review: Now, I am big fan of Tim Burton and Johnny Depp collaborations, they have a great chemistry together and always make great films together. But this film is an atrocity. Johnny Depp is not funny in this, he's pathetic, every character is so stiff and fake looking you don't even like Charlie in this film. The music is just stupid, can't even try to get into it. Now, I am a little biased because I will forever be a loyal fan of Gene Wilder's Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, but I have read the novel and this is so far from the novel its sickening. No where in the novel do they delve into Willy Wonka's psyche. The books title is Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, because it is about Charlie and what happens within his journey through the Factory. The original film was called Willy Wonka, because of legal reasons, nothing more. The sets are probably the only thing I could say that is good. Tim Burton does have a keen sense of atmosphere(kind of like Stanley Kubrick), but that's about it. I am so glad that the Burton/Depp team have gone back to their genius selves with Sweeney Todd. If you wanna see, I warn you, borrow it from a friend, it is not money you wanna waste on a DVD. 2 out of 10 Sorry again for the late post, but I had to get that off my chest.
  25. I have been hearing about this for a little while now. I heard that the film and the 2 Hour TV Pilot will be in canon with the original series and Hasslehoff, will most likely appear in both. But my question if anyone knows the answer is, will this count Knight Rider 2000 as canon?
