JackFetch
It's so weird that Sabotage fits perfectly in a sci fi movie trailer set in the future.
Missy
Since they still have not shown Idris Elba, my hopes are high he is a Klingon. If that is the case, I hope he's Kor or Kang.
Donomark
There's a lot of indignant "HOW DARE THEY!!!" going on online, and...yet again, IDGAF. Looks like fun.
Koete
I thought the first two were wastes of a great cast, but I might enjoy this one with the "fuck it" approach they're taking.

JasonC
I'll be over here, waiting for the new series - in the original timeline - to arrive. Time to bring Star Trek back what its supposed to be.

JackFetch
That's pretty awesome, and a great nod to George.  Although I wish they kept it secret til the movie came out.

dc20willsave
Good for Takei but I'll start caring what he says when he posts something other than clickbait to social media anymore.Personally, I'm thrilled about this, especially since it bodes well for that Bryan Fuller has in store for us with the new series. Delete
I see where Takei is coming from. I mean you can easily look at it that making a gay actor's most famous character gay is patronizing to the actor or cynical pandering to the audience. As an actor wouldn't you be kinda offended by the inference that you only had the ability to act as someone as close to your actual self as possible? JackFetch
Gene is dead and gone. These are not his characters anymore. It's like any other reboot. Fans of the original think it ruins their version.
Gareth
Fans of the original think it ruins their version. I have heard nothing but rejoicing from fans.
Venneh
And if Takei is really concerned about there not being new gay characters, may I remind him Fueller is directing the new TV series? There'll be a new glbt character or three there for sure, and movies following that crew are likely to follow.
