No joke, that has actually happened to me once before.

After I explained the Lantern spectrum to a friend of mine, she walked over to my bookshelf, picked up my Violet ring, put it on, and tackled me with mock-affection.

Oh God, at least some have the decency to ask "May I glomp you?" The ones who do it with no warning have earned my eternal hatred and taught me not to wear a Kingdom Hearts hoodie to a con.

The Lantern spectrum has been a weirdly powerful social tool for comics fans, as I've noticed. Ever so often (not very often, but still) when I'm wearing my Green Lantern t-shirt, I'll walk past someone who's wearing a blue/red/yellow/violet/green lantern T-shirt or ring in public, make eye contact with them, then exchange a quick smile and nod, as though we're brothers/sisters-in-arms.

Fun stuff.
