JackFetch
The Lone Ranger is a thrilling adventure infused with action and humor, in which the famed masked hero is brought to life through new eyes. Native American spirit warrior Tonto (Johnny Depp) recounts the untold tales that transformed John Reid (Armie Hammer), a man of the law, into a legend of justice — taking the audience on a runaway train of epic surprises and humorous friction as the two unlikely heroes must learn to work together and fight against greed and corruption. I just....I can't.....

dc20willsave
Why does Tonto have a bird on his head?
bobobob_100
All Native Americans have birds on their heads, mine's asleep under my hoodie right now. On a serious note fuck no.
Chops
Naw, it's cool. Depp knows about Indians. "I guess I have some Native American [in me] somewhere down the line. My great-grandmother was quite a bit of Native American, she grew up Cherokee or maybe Creek Indian. Makes sense in terms of coming from Kentucky, which is rife with Cherokee and Creek." -actual quote from Depp

Dread
Ha! Yeah, I was prepared to be an apologist for this film because of how excited I am for it, but yikes. The facepaint is actually appropriate given that's what they wore back then. Pictures prove that. But even the LR himself looks ridiculous in that picture. Looks like a guy who works in a Starbucks wearing a homemade costume as opposed to someone who survived his whole unit being slaughtered mercilessly. NightAngle04
Should be a great comedy
Molly
Oh, thank god. I was really worried that after "The Rum Diary," I might be starting to like Johnny Depp. That one picture rapidly fixed that problem.

KnightWing
I really hope that Tonto turns out to be the main protagonist, and this movie is actually a prequel to The Crow.

slothian
I got a big Wild Wild West vibe from that trailer. And I liked that movie! But I won't see this - it crosses my threshold of "I will not watch Depp and Bonham Carter in the same movie".
Missy
This looks really, really bad. As I said on Twitter, I fear it will be the Green Hornet of 2013. Which is sadly ironic, given their shared history.
JasonC
"There is something wrong with that horse." Apart from that one line - which made me laugh - I give that trailer a big hearty "Meh".
Stavros
Depp might be enough to save it, although I honestly didn't realise it was Depp until the credits said so.
NightAngle04
It looks fine. Will probably wait for cable
dc20willsave
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ngQ15f9eZ0M One of the only memories I have of my Grampa on my Dad's side is watching the Long Ranger with him. Now, maybe I missed the episode but I really don't remember any women shooting bullets out of their legs. I am REALLY hoping this film bombs. JackFetch
Some groups are upset with Depp's portrayal as stereotypical even though they had a Comanche adviser and the blessing of multiple tribes. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/05/12/disney-tonto-offensive-lone-ranger-film_n_3263071.html

JasonC
This review calls it "one of the oddest movies I have ever seen". I was already planning on waiting for it to come out on a movie channel. Now, I think I might just skip it then, too...
NightAngle04
Going to see this later today. I concur with with the review calling it odd, there's attempts at comedy but then they go for serious and showing the brutal murdering of people. Then back to comedy. Its really quite strange. And the final act is........... I don't know what was going and how people came to be where they were.
JackFetch
It bombed. It’s a lonely audience for “Lone Ranger” this Fourth of July weekend. In a scenario reminiscent of Disney’s “John Carter,” “Ranger” finally broke $10 million on Friday, the highest-grossing day since its Wednesday opening. The actioner has earned $30.2 million to date, and should close out its five-day bow around $46 million, a long way from its $250 million budget before marketing. Stavros
And the thing we all learn from this? Don't hide Johnny Depp under a shitload of makeup. Wait, how the hell did a western cost $250 MILLION?! That's 30 million more than the frickin' Avengers! More than Man of Steel! More than Iron Man 3! The only film close to that in cost is the Hobbit, and at least there it's bankable. Jesus Christ, who's idea was this?
Koete
Because it's really Pirates of the Caribbean 5.
