  1. FTW! Happy Birthday, Mike! I'm looking forward to my 30th now - roll on 2015!! (NightAngle too!)
  2. The same. It might just be the idea bulb next to the "Shoryuken!" Er, Will.i.am?!? Given a supporting role in a blockbuster?!? No thanks.
  3. 2006, dude - time marches on!
  4. You should hear the reviews on the main Earth-2.net podcasts, #39 & #72. I seem to remember #72 winning some kind of award....
  5. No slothian, from I recall Lois was an annoying bitch, and also she sucks at being a mom. Eh, I don't remember her being a *bad* mom in that film, but the fact she was one at all was part of the problem. I'm not saying Lois Lane's character can't mellow, but in that Superman Returns is meant to be a continuation from Superman I & II, I saw nothing of Margot Kidder in Kate Bosworth's performance, which you can't blame on the script alone when you consider what Routh did. On Topic: I like the idea of keeping ye olde Batman TAS theme. Like Mike, that film just gets me pumped up at the start of all WFP episodes, much like I love hearing Vincent Price in the Dread Media credits.
  6. One other thing - sometimes when I've paused it, it'll go right back to the beginning of the file. Tres bizarre. Still, pretty nifty!
  7. This toolbar is "bomb-diggety"!!! The only thing I would ask is whether it's space issues preventing all the E-2.n:TS episodes being available?
  8. Wait, Lois Lane is a hard-nosed petulant bitchy reporter?!?! That can't be right - I mean I watched Superman Returns and she wasn't like that at all....
  9. Admittedly yes - I think I was trying to reinforce the positives there, some of which you touched upon (the central perfromance and not all animals being affected by the virus.
  10. Des did not give his thoughts on the film in his 2007 round-up because that was about Top 5 films of the year. Des refused to see it on principal and watched Vincent Price in The Last Man on Earth instead. He's sure it's much better. The third person is so awesome! Hmm, could've sworn I Am Legend got more than one Earth-2.net review....
  11. I've just seen I Am Legend now for my next CR seg (right now, I'm predicting it'll be the funniest of the lot, without wanting to sound egotistical). And I'm stunned with how much I disagree with Mike & Jenny here. To me, it sounds like the film is getting punished a bit too much for not being like the book. And hey, I haven't read the book and can only go by your review here. But I'm very wary of how seriously fans take the source material. The Mask is VERY unlike the original Dark Horse comics, but it's still a fucking awesome movie. I Am Legend made me marvel at Will Smith's acting, and I don't think that it didn't know what it wanted to be either. Did Die Hard not have comedic or emotional moments aside from the action? I was on edge *throughout* the movie, even when he was originally hunting the lone deer, because I knew a ZombPire could *possibly* be around the corner, and I nearly teared up when Sam the Dog snuffed it/Neville said goodbye to his daughter. I do think it lost it's way when Neville was saved by Anna, but there were still enough cool moments with the interactions, which changed the film's dynamic a lot. I want an argument, Mike! And I'm struggling to place where Des gave his thoughts on the film - I *think* it was the 2007 round-up, but I'm listening to WFP, and I can't listen to 2 podcasts at once!
  12. Firstly, only the England football team and certain media figures think that they're world class. The "British" football team doesn't exist, and even then, it'd be better than the current Yank one. (RACE WAR!) You're talking about the Brits of the 17th-19th centuries, here. It's like me saying how Americans nowadays see a trip to the West Coast as being akin to the spirit of the frontier age. As sad a reflection of these people's education as that survey is, in no way will it reflect the entire make-up of the population of Britain. Especially if the survey was done by bloody UKtv Gold....
  13. You know that thing we were talking about? Yeah, you can consider my decision reversed. :youlose: But....I already know you nixed the title!!!
  14. That's only an hour away from where I live. Did I hear you might not be going, Mike?!? Liked the show muchly - the only Danny Boyle film I've managed to see was 'The Beach' and it's rubbish. More the fault of the source material, I reckon, but even so, for some reason I've never been too bothered to watch his other stuff, even though I know it's mostly all well-received. The only good thing about The Beach is that it took DiCaprio's interest away from American Psycho - he temporarily replaced Bale for the role of Patrick Bateman, and my Bale-fanboyism aside, I reckon he wouldn't have been as good.
  15. But Dubs, if you become fully atheist, THIS will happen: I think that last line sums things up aptly, just not in the way he means.
  16. Not news as such, but I came across an article on the gaming blog/site that Morphine Jim writes for. Thought it might sell the franchise some more to those who don't get it...naming no names.... Destructoid article: 5 Reasons Behind Smash Bros. Popularity

    The Music Thread

Mostly Talking Heads at the moment, and plenty of it.
  18. How exciting!!!!!!! Oh, wait.... Where's the "That's Racism~" emoticon when you need it?!?!? Meh, screw your prize, Sims!!!!
  19. Holy cow, Guillermo del Toro?!?!? That would be quite an awesome coup....
  20. FYI, lazy journalists, Cambridgeshire is a ragion, not a city. That would be like me calling Iowa a city in some local paper. And yes, these people are batshit insane.

    Episode 22

Indeed it was. Then again, given my alcohol dependency, unsociable hours and my recent split with my missus, I did a double take to check I wasn't being referred to!!

    Episode 22

Mental note: Never wonder aloud on your own podcast segment about what a specialist podcast might rank a theatrical horror release. You'll be wrong.
  23. Mxy's post has yet to praise me - I'm on strike until I am shown due love by EVERYONE, DAMN IT!! Nah, it was a pleasure. Because my media player likes playing my downloaded WFP episodes on a nightly basis, I have a fair recollection of what got said and when, so picking out the audio clips wasn't nearly as hard as first thought. I think the package recognises the excellent rapport Mike and James have with each other - my actual favourite clip isn't in the package, in fact, because I couldn't fit it in: (after talking about how Dr Nemo could only cure the Timberwolf Estrogen nonsense when "full-blown") Mike: What the hell?! That would be like a doctor saying to a patient that they can't help them whilst they have HIV, but once they have AIDS, they can be cured! James: Oh, you're in good shape when you have AIDS! I was more surprised Mike didn't bump up Heart of Ice to a 10, given that his original justification was "it's hard to a give a ten". Well, a Bullet for Bullock got one so I was half-expecting that to get a mention. Otherwise, nothing else to report - nice way to close the book on B:TAS. Looking forward to S:TAS, as I barely got to watch any of that.
  24. As Earth-2.net's resident wimp, I concur that the first anime looked both terrifying and gory as fuck. Then again, a guy's bleeding arm stump shown extensively in the second could also put one off their dinner.
