  1. Damn it, I love every Spider costume variant that isn't the Captain Universe one. They used to have all the different costumes in one of the games, that was great.

  3. Oh god, its like Lion El'Jonson leaving Caliban in the hands of Luthor when he left to fight the Horus Heresy. Or go to Disneyworld. Same thing really.
  4. I'm sorry, I don't have time to listen to this, I've got 35 Uncanny X-casts to listen too. Blame the guy who introduced me to them.
  5. Jumper was just fine aside from the religious zealot angle they threw in. I'd be far more willing to accept that some big international company had been capturing and dissecting the Jumpers for science than the idea that the Paladins had been hunting them down to exterminate them for centuries. How would they stand a chance without all the technology they use in this film? That being said this was a competant action flick and good fun. The jumping in particular was stunningly realised on several occasions.
  6. OK fine, you've got me into ANOTHER podcast. Just in time too because I need a massive amound of new content to keep me occupied during my week in Scotland at the end of the month.

    Cell phones

Nokia 6234 bought and paid for by work, including my calls. Of course I preferred my old Motorola V220 from a "smug git" perspective because it was a flip-phone but the Nokia is just fine, plus I got a specific charger/call kit for it in my van.
  8. I do know that they have plans on a Scorpion King 2, The Rock isn't in it, because its supposed to be set when he is a child. I heard they already had someone casted for the part of the Young Scorpion King. Than the 3rd Scorpion King would show the fall, with The Rock back. I know they already shot the film because UFC heavyweight champion Randy Couture (who plays the bad guy) was off filming it when he decided to quit the company. Michael Copon of One Tree Hill and Power Rangers fame is the one guy playing the Rock's old bit. I doubt Rock's coming back to it but I like the idea that the final film would be a more complex exploration of the corruption of that character. Sort of like a low rent ancient Godfather with assorted bikini models.
  9. Meh, its like the 4th since the Scorpian king is a spinoff in the same mythology. However they've already finished Scorpian King 2 so by that standard this should be the 5th film based on that series.
  10. Batman Anime Preview I may be looking forward to this more than the live action film. 6 short films in different styles with different directors and writers? This is absolutly fucking INSANE. The Deadshot showdown in particular just blows my mind. This is the sort of thing I'd love them to do as an HBO Spawn-style series.
  11. I'm more scared of his horribly lumpy shoulders than his forkhands.
  12. ~New Trailer! He's actually IN the giant warehouse from Raiders! Sure its full of trailer cliches and some potentially dubious action but I have faith in Speilberg. This is gonna RULE!! Actually on closer inspection the action looks more like an updated version of the old swashbuckling style than a big Michael Bay style CGI-fest.
  13. OK, I havn't read all these lets see- Batman: Year One- Seminal retelling of the orgin of The Batman. One of the finest superhero stories ever Batman: Dark Victory- A great sequel to The Long Halloween, basically more of the same. Don't read this until you've read TLH though. Batman: The Dark Knight Returns- Alongside Year One this is the Batman story most highly regarded. Batman: A Death in the Family- Eh. Its 80's batman and good reading if you are looking to better understand Jason Todd and his relationship with Bats, plus theres some great advancement with bats/joker and bats/superman, but its not the best comic for the modern reader. Very 80's. Any Sin City Novel(I do have The Hard Goodbye)- Generally speaking I'm a Sin City addict. Once I bought one I just read it straight though and got the next and the next. A harsh brutal and uncomprimising series stuffed full of mysteries and sex. Spawn- I read a big Spawn arc ending last year but in the end it seemed like too cyclical a story. The hero achieved all his dreams, defeated all his foes and at the end everything was straight back to the bleak hell it was at the start, and I got the impression this wasn't the first time this had happened. I can't speak of all of it and I certainly liked it for a time but in the end I didn't feel like I was getting much out of it. I'm no Frank Millar worshipper but the best three books here are all written by him.
  14. Horrible assistant choice but at least the last two return, plus I'm a massive fan of the rumoured big bad.
  15. I've got to say that I was hoping the theme would change to reflect the show being reviewed. I'm a big fan of the Superman animated theme and I think it would really help to individualise this portion of WFP, it just helps the podcast evolve a little to reflect the subject matter. I get why you wouldn't, I really do, but I'd have preferred the changing themes. Plus when the theme changes to something new and great I would mark out a little. When the JL theme becomes the JLU theme I'd just be grinning ear to ear.
  16. I actually like the sort of role Wolverine has here. When he's the violent anti-hero I'm less of a fan, but when he is forced to grow up and take reponsibility for himself and others he's a much stronger character, and thats what I'm getting from this. Wolverine actually stepping up and taking care of his people rather than just running off and slicing people up. Not that Enemy of the State and Agent of Shield wasn't a fun arc, its just that it maxed me out on Wolverine slaughter for a long while.
  17. Script and concept-wise this is good stuff, a real departure from the old concept of an X-men series. My problem is with some of the character design and animation. In some places its designed as a very adult show, but in execution it still feels like a kids show. Its not at home with itself like Evolution or the DCAU. That being said I'm definitly watching this, its got some plot ideas that are downright graphic novelish.
  18. My favorite is T-2, but structurally its practically a remake of the original with better action. Aliens was a complete reworking of the original premise, its a better more original film.
  19. Mike, I really enjoy these shows and earth-2 is a great website. That being said I got very fustrated during this show by your inability to let go of the whole "driven insane by the sun" premise and the fact that Jenny didn't see the link as clearly as you. I'm not going to side with either of you, I havn't seen the film, but I will say that I fast-forwarded some stuff towards the end because I was just annoyed having to listen to the same exact point over and over. This isn't meant as a jab at anyone, its constructive criticism. You need to let some things go. Revisit them at the end of it all by all means but repeating the argument over and over took up a lot of time and added nothing to the show. Sometimes people disagree and you won't understand why. You can't change that.
  20. Thats the English, the Scots, Welsh and Northern Irish are under no illusions. Actually most English know we suck at football too. We have a high percentage of stupid here, I won't deny it, but lets not forget that stupid is almost universal. Except in scandanavia, those guys have like a 100% literacy rate. At least our elected leaders have the appearance of being genuinely clever people who don't need help putting on thier trousers the right way in the morning. We leave that to the Royal Family.
  21. Meh. 68% of the general public is fictional. Plus I'm guessing they were polling people wearing tracksuits.
  22. I will execute the people behind Scary Movie. Not when I rule the world, just at the next available oppertunity. These films are the absolutly WORST tradition in filmmaking. Worse than SAW, worse than actual genuine snuff films.
  23. Thats right, kill all the apes! Hey, you've got me there. People weren't done educated good like what they are now. What? I'm sorry, I thnk you're confusing me with Tom Cruise. Swans being the gayest of all gods creations. These people are the closets thing I've seen to ironclad proof against evolution.
  24. Blue and Gold. Both very simple, both quite original.
