  1. Obi Wan would win a fight in a wide open location, like the Dune Sea of Tatooine or something, where any force prowess Yoda could use to his advantage would not be directly offensive. Were the fight to take place in an enclosed environment, with many loose items, Yoda would take it because it would be all that Obi Wan could do to defend against the projectiles, much less parry in lightsaber combat with one as skilled as Yoda. So, Yoda. If I were to pick a random fight location from the movies, it is most likely in an environment where force ability would be the more important determining factor.
  2. No, it's optional for movie theaters to card. Some theaters will even up their policies for certain films, something I know several theaters did with Sin City (treated it like an NC-17 film). They're targeting video games because most retailers won't enforce the gaming industry's policies. I think this is much more directed at retailers than at developers, since developers are universally adopting the ESRB system. Either way, I don't think this changes things very much. The vast majority of kids under 16 aren't gonna be walking around with $50 in pocket money that wasn't given to them by their parents. There's a great piece about that by the head of Acclaim in the 2000 Senate hearings about the marketing of violent materials to children. I think I have a PDF file with the whole record of the hearings, if you're interested in that. And I could have sworn Ensemble was near Chicago, since when I was writing my Bruce Shelley bio for the Game Developer tourney it said he was living in the suburbs. Whatever though, my point still stands as Microsoft and Nintendo of America are both headquartered in Washington, not to mention numerous other studios.
  3. Yes, we do. This isn't censorship. This just forces parents to pay attention to what their kids are doing, which they should do anyway. This bill, though I suppose that since it was proposed by the governor it will be signed into law, isn't nearly as offensive as that Washington one. It's even worse because the video game industry is much more important to Washington than Illinois, as the only development studio I know of in Illinois is Ensemble.
  4. This is actually pretty tough. Luke's resolve was superhuman, and if it was a battle of willpower alone, Luke would easily prove victorious. Sidious' mastery of the force is greater, but Luke is (arguably) better at lightsaber combat. I'm actually gonna say Luke here. Though I'll probably be outvoted.
  5. Obi Wan. Though Tyranus technically defeated him twice, there were strange circumstances in both instances. In the first fight, he had no idea the depth of Tyranus' power, and Anakin refused to obey his orders. In the second battle, Obi Wan wasn't actually there for Dooku and Sidious' involvement in the battle cannot be underestimated. Plus, luck was with Tyranus in a major way in the second battle. I think in a one on one battle with each knowing that they were going to meet prior to the engagement, Kenobi would take it.
  6. Which Vader is this? Man or cyborg?
  7. Odd. They remember the people who played bit parts like Pyro and Iceman in the first film, but then forget about the guy who played McCoy in X-2. I guessed they switched some other castings too, though, so whatever. He'll be a good voice, though I think he's a little too old to play the human version.

    Final Fight is back!

YES!!!!! Somebody at Capcom must read Earth-2!!!! Final Fight, done in a style similar to Max Payne? HELL FUCKING YEAH! Best news I've had all day.
  9. Yeah, fliers are regional. There is usually a list of stores on them that say which locations the prices are valid. Circuit City sucks, when I was like 12, I wanted to get a new graphics card, so I went into Circuit City (the only place within an hour's drive that stocked it, so I had no choice, really) with my $150 ready to slap down. It took me over an hour to get help, and the store wasn't even crowded. To this day I have never bought anything at Circuit City since, except a CD that I got because somebody bought me a gift card.
  10. POSSIBLE ORGINAL SERIES SPOILERS: I take it Ceras is still very much his bitch? That always bothered me, because they make this big deal about her coming to terms with being a vampire, and then she's just as weak and helpless as she ever was. END POSSIBLE SPOILERS Whatever. I'm in as long as Alexander's back.
  11. The problem with casting Eddie Brock exactly as the original comic book version is that there aren't many huge blonde types that good enough actors to pull of the suicidal depression of Eddie Brock. If they do Venom, they should do the Ultimate Spider-Man storylne for it. They could have Peter find the box while he's helping Aunt May unpack in her apartment. Plus, it opens up a fairly wide age range for actors, since Peter's already in college, Eddie could be a grad student, or a research assistant or something. They could just say he was working at the Bugle to earn a little extra money for college.
  12. Something Awful's Photoshop Phriday today was all about that Superman pic with other superheroes. Check out the especially good Batman and Green Lantern ones. The Red Son Superman looks especially ill, too. Clicky
  13. Yeah, you'd need to have the Eddie Brock and symbiote suit stuff going for at least a whole movie before you do Venom. I don't think you can do Carnage properly because that sorta turns Venom into a good guy, since Venom wants to kill Carnage nearly as much as Spiderman.
  14. Nope. Watch today's. Not their best, but pretty funny.
  15. Kevin Smith's review. For a non-spoiler version, suffice to say he liked it. I didn't think there were any MASSIVE spoilers, but there were some minor ones, so don't read it if you don't want any.
  16. From Lucas' appearance and speech at Celebration III (from starwars.com): Interesting news. I'm not sure what to think. I am scared of this, though.

    Xbox 360 news

I'm assuming this is the bottom (when you stand it vertically, for various reasons including the air intake layout), and if that pic is legit, then that's different from the previous one, but obviously really similar. I have no problems with the brushed metal look, but why does the drive not match the front bezel, that's ugly.

OH MY GOD. That thing is HIDEOUS. I could have designed something better looking in high school. If you want people who don't normally play games to take it into their homes, you need to not make it stand out. It should look natural in a home theater setup. That thing doesn't. And why does everybody have a hard on for huge LED's? This trend (and it's been going on for years) needs to end. Now.
  19. Emulators aren't really that hard to find, but ROMs are. The best placed I've found is p2p networks, because the file sizes are pretty much too big for standard web hosting. You know how to use BitTorrent, right? Go to Torrentspy.com and search for N64, that should turn up a lot. Whether they have what you want or not...I don't know. EDIT: The best emulator I've found is Project64, but be aware that N64 emulation is a bit different than SNES or Neo Geo emulation, and there's gonna be some issues with it.

    Marvel "616"

What do you mean? Most of the other characters are similar enough in looks to their Marvel Universe counterparts to recognize them, Fury isn't, other than the eyepatch. That's all I meant by it.
  21. Super Mario Bros. That was easy.

    Marvel "616"

When I saw the thread title I thought 616 was gonna be something similar to Neil Gaiman's 1602 (which I flipped through at Barnes and Noble last week, and now regret not buying, because it looked fantastic, but I digress), just set in like Imperial China or Arabia during the rise of the Prophet Muhammed or something. Anyway, this is a little silly. I kinda wish they had just prevented it from happening alltogether. There's no reason for them to interact, so why should they? This is gonna cause some problems, especially with Nick Fury.
  23. Well not all, but yeah, mostly drifting and downhill racing. There's a plot summary on that webpage if you want to know more. EDIT: I need to stop posting right after I get out of the shower. Anyway, yeah, it's about drifting, but in the same way Gundam is about big ass robots. It's there, but it's used to tell the story, and isn't really the story itself. EDIT Redux: Here are some trailers for the anime, should you like to see more about the style in which the anime is done.
  24. Go here. Watch the trailer. Markout, because it will be awesome. Unfortunately there's not yet a US release date. But it's coming out in Hong Kong pretty soon.
