  1. Happy birthday from one of the forum's old farts.
  2. The problem of bringing kids into battle was there long before Damien showed up though. Dick Grayson, Jason Todd, Tim Drake, Stephanie Brown...
  3. I have watched YouTube tutorials on how to do that. I have tried. I have never gotten it.
  4. I imagine Bruce has a Keurig, but brewing coffee is easy. I am sure he could do that. Cooking for himself generally, though, he probably has no idea how to do.
  5. He is also incapable of recognizing why taking 13 and 14 year old kids to battle psycho killers and other assorted murderous thugs is a very immoral thing to do.
  6. What a birthday present! My birthday is the 28th. I know Mike, James and Damien have sworn off doing Saw reviews. I can go see it and record something for The Show, if you want someone to rip into it for the sake of tradition. I will admit I genuinely liked the first three movies. After that, the series went downhill. By the time 7 came out I referred to the series as "this abomination of a franchise" when I wrote a review of that thing. I literally sat all alone in a theater watching it. That the traps in 5, 6 and 7 have nothing at all to do with the main story contributes heavily to the series going downhill.
  7. Dragon Quest VII on 3DS. Just got to Alltrades Abbey.
  8. There is a TON of stuff here James & Damien could rip to shreds. It would be a very entertaining episode.
  9. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2: Out Of The Shadows. OK, I will admit I genuinely liked this movie. But it is a big step down from the first one and we went from 1 to eleventy billion in about three tenths of a picosecond. Not one single character behaves in a reasonable way. When you're writing a script, you have to ask yourself: If this were real, would this character act this way? TMNT 2 fails on every level in that regard - especially with Bebop and Rocksteady, who cannot even be described as characters. Yes, i know this is sci fi fantasy but characters should have believable reactions and motivations. This is just badly written.
  10. I purchased Final Fantasy VII from the Square Enix online store back in 2012. I have a new computer and I wanted to reinstall the game. But because Square switched retailers, I cannot get a download link for the game I paid for. From a short web search, I am not the only one with this problem. Lots of people have lost access to the games they purchased. So Square has my money, and I no longer have the game. Square "helpfully" offered to allow me to pay for the game a second time when I called technical support. I understand if I cannot get the original download link due to technical issues, but they could at least give me the equivalent credit to purchase the game on Steam. I want to do things the right way. I don't want to pirate stuff. I want to pay for it. Square spent a lot of money, time and effort to make and then port the game and they deserve to be paid. I only wish Square Enix had the same code of honor that I do. Because when Square treats honest, honorable customers like this, they lose the moral high ground to pirates & thieves.

    Random wrestling thoughts

I thought about re-subscribing to Hulu so I could watch Raw and Smackdown again, but the all of the new titles have drained my interest. Since the brand split we have four (soon to be five) brand new championship belts. A new set of tag champs, another women's champ, a cruiserwieght champ and a "universal" champ. I thought that the tag team champ, women's champ and world heavyweight champ would be on both shows. Nope, we have to water down what it means to be a champion again. Great. And WWE was doing so well in reducing the glut of titles.
  12. I created a new trope for the Tiradesverse! Looking forward to seeing "The NPC effect" applied in future episodes.
  13. Does anyone know of good cheat programs for PC games? Backstory: I recently upgraded to a new computer. I installed Resident Evil 4 from DVD. Here's my problem. I played through it on my old computer, beat it, and was just having fun blowing through with upgraded weapons and either the Infinite Launcher or the Chicago Typewriter. Going through it from scratch for a third time (I also had it on PS2 before I sold that console, and beat it on that platform too) sounds too much like work. I have seen some programs that are kinda like a gameshark but I am reluctant to install anything unless I know it is safe. Any recommendations for a safe way to install mods, or use a cheat program?
  14. I just don't understand the outrage over the bad reviews. I plan on seeing it. What the critics say won't convince me to hate something I like, or to like something I hate. I couldn't care less if it is savaged or praised. If I see it and like it, then I like it. If I don't like it, then I don't.
  15. Making Sulu a homosexual reminds me of the 2005 Dukes of Hazzard movie making Uncle Jesse a stoner because he was played by Willie Nelson. This is an even looser connection than that, because it's a nod to an actor who hasn't played the part for 30 years. Let fantasy be fantasy and reality be reality. This is either pandering or agenda-pushing.

  17. Great podcast that made me super-excited for DC Rebirth. I probably won't be picking up individual issues as I generally wait for trades. But for this I might make an exception! I love the fact that Wally is back, and the scans I have seen of old, balding Johnny Thunder were exciting too. I really miss the old-school Justice Society, as you can tell from my comment on the last podcast.

    Randomness

I thought that was photoshopped, but it's apparently a real thing. https://blogintomystery.com/2012/05/24/peter-parker-was-molested-as-a-boy-fact-i-got-misty-eyed-reading-this-fact-spider-man-and-power-pack/ I don't think it's part of the character's official history though.
  19. That said, I am buying the trade when it comes out. I'm interested to see where this leads.
  20. The Captain America Hydra retcon makes less sense than Dr. Gordon being part of the Jigsaw Cult in Saw VII. And you really have to work at it to out-nonsense the last three Saw movies.
  21. That's the one. I have all 12 trades from before Infinite Crisis and several trades from after Infinite Crisis. It doesn't really pick up until Volume 3, The Return of Hawkman.
  22. You should go and pick up the second trade paperback of JSA, where the JSA fights Extant and they get revenge for what he did in Zero Hour. Then pick up Vol. 9 as it is a good follow up to that, especially with Hourman's story. I love the Goldene Age Hourman and his interactions with his son. Now, I would recommend picking up all of the trade paperbacks in that JSA volume (as I did over the course of several years) because I absolutely love the Justice Society. Legacy heroes have a special appeal to me, especially when mixed with legends. Every now and then I read through the entire 12 volumes because it's so great.
  23. I remember easily defeating the last boss of Mega Man 2 with my NES Advantage way back in the day. Then when I played it on a PS2 collection, without a turbo controller, I got owned.
  24. I'm out. I've seen the first four abominations and I am not watching any more. Granted, I said this after the third movie. I watched the fourth one one anyway to be able to better follow along with the Tirades podcast. I think I can enjoy the Real Protagonists' pain without subjecting myself to the same pain. So now I'm done. It's not worth it. You guys knock yourself out. But I will totally understand if you refuse to go back into Bayland.
  25. That's me. I did like it when I saw it in 2005. And no, I wasn't drunk. We all like (or dislike) our own things. But while I liked it, Elektra was definitely a flawed movie, with the biggest problem being that Elektra is a villain in her own movie - at least until she randomly grows a conscience. (Which I did actually point out in my feedback.) And if they're going for a more gritty, realistic environment there is no reason not to change her costume to something more practical. Yes, put her in red, like in the comics. But no woman would go into hand-to-hand combat with ninjas in a low-cut, midriff bearing outfit. She's going to be wearing Kevlar, or at least something more protective. In fairness, this movie is far from the only place where this is a problem and female fighters dressed totally inappropriately for battle is not confined to female superheroes. But the movie does deserve criticism for the silly costume. Original thread, from waaaaaaay back in the day:
