  1. Peter doesn't need an "uncle ben" moment - I don't think he ever has. Nathan, yes, but not Peter. So what comic character do the Heroes characters resemble most? Claire - Wolverine Peter - Mimic (minor X-Men character) Sylar - Rogue Nathan - Angel (without wings) D.L Hawkins - Kitty Pride Nikki - The Hulk Matt - pick a psychic. Isaac - ??? Hiro - ???
  2. I'm confused. Peter went to Texas to stop Sylar and save someone he did not even know, even though he knew there was a really good chance he was going to die in the process. Other than Hiro, he is probably more interested in being a super hero than anyone else.
  3. OK all, thanks for the info. I had no idea that was on a home console system. Senator Ford responded to the question about live nude strippers and said "my understanding that this came from 'Grand Theft Auto'." I responded: I can assure you that there are no "video clips of real topless strippers" in Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City or Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.
  4. By the way, I e-mailed my state senator and asked the above question. If she gives me a straight answer (which is doubtful) I'll post it here. She was a candidate for Governor in 2004, but dropped out when the Lieutenant Governor changed his mind and decided to run after all. I am sure she is at least considering running in 2008.
  5. ****SNIP**** http://www2.indystar.com/articles/5/249484-8875-127.html Does the portion in italics describe a console video game? I've never heard of any console game (PS2, PS3, XBox, XBox 360, GameCube or Wii) that features that sort of footage. I live in Indiana, and my state senator has sponsored similar legislation in the past.
  6. I want to see Bill Clinton do a cameo; Nathan gushes that the former President is his hero.
  7. It's been fun, but the identity of Claire's daddy was just too forced. I think that one flopped.
  8. Played it before, on the official Hulk movie site back in 2003.
  9. It is amazing how many advances in technology were influenced by the "adult" entertainment industry. Porn decided the VHS/Betamax war, expanded the market for DVD's and was a major driving force behind the explosive growth of the Internet. Porn will decide the winner of Blu-Ray vs. HD-DVD. Porn welcomes technology that enables the user to be more private when using it, almost as if the makers and users of porn both admit it is a bad thing...

    Manhunt

I didn't even make it to the shooting levels. I gave up after repeatedly getting my arse handed to me in fistfights. The fighting controls were horrid.

    Manhunt

Like I said two years and one day ago, the concept of the original Manhunt was great but the execution was flawed. I like GTA:SA (picked it up a couple months ago) and I love The Warriors. Rockstar can make very good games, so I'll rent Manhunt 2 and try it out. Hopefully it will be a significant improvement over the first one.

    Civil War *SPOILERS!*

This isn't comic-related, but it brings up some of the issues we're discussing in light of the Superhuman Registration Act. Obviously, there are some interesting parallels between real world and fantasy world here... Thoughts? http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml...05/ncrime05.xml ***SNIP*** ***SNIP***

    52 and World War III

The big question is who dug up Beetle and Lord's corpses and then took them to the Statue of Liberty, and why? Seems pretty perverted to me. Ion, Donna Troy, Black Canary and Big Barda all have that "I don't know anything about this" innocent look going on...
  14. Opening match would be Rush Limbaugh vs. Al Franken in a steel cage. If Limbaugh loses, he has to vote for Hillary Clinton in 2008. If Franken loses, he has to vote for Newt Gingrich.

    Civil War *SPOILERS!*

Why do you think so? I thought it was well done. Just curious. That I agree with. It would have meant so much more had there actually been a traitor.
  16. I agree. The fault here clearly lies with the people who put the video on the Internet. This is why we need censorship. We're all far too stupid too take care of ourselves, which is why Mommy Government needs to step in and run our lives for us. Especially when it comes to those gosh darn video games. Of course, in order to take care of us they will need money, so we'll be paying most of our income in taxes. They had a great thing going in the Soviet Union. It should be obvious to everyone that the State knows best.
  17. As you all probably know by now, I had it wrong. It was Punisher after all. I was wrong here too. Check out Civil War #6 - everyone stayed in character. Well done.
  18. Not really related to video games, but... http://www.news24.com/News24/World/News/0%...50341%2C00.html I wonder if we'll see the same calls for censorship we see in relation to video games? I mean, digitially created images of people are killed in video games, but this is a video of an actual execution. I'm waiting for an answer from the nanny state ninnies, but all I hear are crickets chirping.

    World War Hulk

That happens a LOT in the real world. Especially in politics.

    Final Fantasy XII

I picked up a copy today, but haven't played it yet. I'm a huge FF fan, and have been since VI. The Game Genie code where you start at level 99 was just awesome. I found that after beating the game without cheating, and it was so satisfying to obliterate some of the strongest monsters in the first half of the game.

    Halloween smackdown

Is Carrie more or less powerful than the "final girl" (who had telekenesis and telepathy) in Friday VII? If she's more powerful, she takes Jason apart based on the precedent set in VII.

    Layla Miller

She looks like she's 8 years old in "House of M".

    Layla Miller

Isn't the character 8 years old or something?

    Make your own FF

Namor, definately, because of his history with the FF. He would be the "tank" of the group. Other possibilities include: She-Hulk - but not if Namor's on the team - with only four members, two tanks would be too much. Spider-Man, which would be interesting given his friendship with the Torch and that the FF tried to recruit him ages ago. Crystal or Medusa from the Inhumans, or a newly heroic Quicksilver would be a good fit too. (Quicksilver changes his heel/face alignment more often than Kane and Undertaker turn on each other.)
  25. Fury. They've been building up his return in "New Avengers". Plus, it would be out of character for Captain America to accept a murderer like the Punisher on his team. Yes, characters evolve over time, but this would be too much of a departure for CW writers to pull off.
