  1. And the dour, hopeless nature was really highlighted by Batman and Superman making a joke at each other upon Diana's arrival.
  2. This is a semi intoxicated shower thought, but I don't think I've ever wanted a crossover more than Marvel's Wolfman/Colan Dracula and DC's Morrison/Mahnke (or Lemire/Ponticelli) Frankenstein. This, of course, comes from the realization that since Ben is a vampire for Halloween and he really loves slapping people, that he needs to be Tomb of Dracula Dracula. So, you know, Toddler Mustache.
  3. There's a severe lack of Plastic Man in general.
  4. I get that, from a story perspective and it's very solid. From a marketing perspective, it's baffling. Luke is the protagonist of the original films. I get that Mark Hamill doesn't have Harrison Ford's star power, but the utter absence of the guy who built the franchise is jarring.
  5. Um, Luke Skywalker is actually in this movie, right? I mean, I love Han, too, but I find the lack of Luke... Disturbing.
  6. Crimson Peak: Beautifully shot, engaging story and (with the glaring exception of Charlie Hunam) well acted. I'll need to see it again, but I would say it's Del Toro's best effort in some time.
  7. Because your heart is black and cold, Chris. Joy is real. It's okay to feel something. Yes, the Marvel movies are formulaic and have inspired far too many grand designs of cinematic universes as money printing machines, but you know what else they are? Fun. Which is something Fox doesn't seem to think the Fantastic Four needs.
  8. Yeah, Fox is sure handling four of my favorite characters really well...
  9. CBR and Newsarama are both reporting on a rumor that Fox traded the FF movie rights to Marvel for the X-Men tv rights. I'm hoping it's true, of course.
  10. The Muppets is a pile of dogshit. I'm crushed.
  11. Feeling dissatisfied with my current gig at my restaurant, I walked into the other good joint in town for an application and walked out with a new job.
  12. We need to talk about Tom Hiddleston as Hank Williams in I Saw The Light. I'm straight. But I'm not that straight.
  13. Everyone's gotta fucking reboot everything.
  14. He is awake-ish. He's still very heavily drugged. He's not responding verbally to any stimuli, which I wish I could say was just the drugs, but there is very likely some brain damage too. Once they successfully wean him down, they'll know more.
  15. There's a sizeable group of idiots that want her to play Carol Danvers.
  16. That's a hell of a step down from Chris Cornell, Jack White and Adele, though Petty may redeem it.
  17. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2014): Better than I expected, but not much. Arnett saves this thing. Johnny Knoxville as Leo was super distracting too. The plot was over convienent and paper thin, Shredder looked ridiculous, and Megan Fox is still the worst. Better than all four Transformers, but not by a mile. First Blood: I've seen it a hundred times, but it's A classic for a goddamned reason and I required a palate cleanser. Stallone is on point, and reminds us all that he used to be a damn fine actor. Brian Dennehy is amazing as a self righteous Ahab, who you almost pity, until he dives back into being horrible. I don't even wanna punch David Carouso's smug ginger face here. However, the movie takes a really weird turn in the final act. I understand John has been pushed so far. But given the restraint he showed in the woods, the decimation he lays on the town is very jarring. Yes, he doesn't kill anyone. But it's still very loud for such a quiet character. That said, his final monologue to Trautmann is incredible. I only wish they'd gone with the book ending and spared us the shitty sequels. Damn fine film.

I've recently discovered Jason Isbell. Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson and Merle Haggard fans take note. This guy is fucking awesome. Live Oak http://youtu.be/WdwnGG29Up Cover Me Up EDIT: In true Johnny and June fashion, he and his violinist/wife (Amanda Shires) just had their first child last week.
  19. I'm gonna guess that they are because we are the worst, period, generation, period, ever, period.
  20. I demand a throwdown with Hercules. Demand.
  21. What really pisses me off is there are the guts of a good movie in there. Actually, the guts of three good movies. Which is the problem.
  22. If, and I mean if, they're the reason Wright, Branagh and Joss moved on, this is probably a good move too.
