Dread
Disney movies in general. There hasn't been an animated Disney movie I've liked made past 1986.
dc20willsave
The only people I've heard say it was disappointing are the diehard Scorsese fans who thought it was a lorry film. Not everything can be Goodfellas. That said, it would be awesome if everything was Goodfellas.
Dread
You know, my thoughts on the film are probably colored by the fact that I was uninterested in seeing it after reading the book. The book was a tedious exercise with some very pretty illustrations. The movie was fucking amazing.

Gareth
Do people like Scorsese's remake of Cape Fear? That's one of my favorite movies ever, better than the original in my opinion.
Dread
I agree with that. The original has Mitchum, so it's hard for me to say it's better, but it's an amazing film.
Dread
Gangs of New York is one of the most historically inaccurate movies ever, but that probably stems from it being based off a book by Herbert Asbury that was poorly researched to begin with. The real "Five Points" wasn't even remotely close to as violent as it's depicted in the movie. That being said, over the last few years I've softened up to the film a lot and appreciate it for what it is. And Daniel Day-Lewis is arguably the greatest actor alive. (I also find it funny and awesome that he plays a character who despises Abe Lincoln.) I wasn't aware that people hated Big Fish, either. That's one of the few movies that ever made me cry. It's brilliant. Gangs of New York is something I enjoy not as a historical record, but as a pretty amazing display of dramatic weight. There's so much to love about the spectacle of it all. I couldn't honestly care less about how faithful it is to reality. I'm pretty sure that's not what was intended anyway. It's a warts and all love letter to New York. As that, it works. Except for the modern shot at the end. Goddamn, I hate that. Almost as much as I hated the rock song at the end of last week's Game of Thrones. Judging by how much I've had to defend Big Fish, tons of people hate it.

slothian
Don't forget Judge Dredd, Ian. I would have added that, except the forum feedback saw quite a few murmurs of agreement!
James D.
Like I said, I appreciate Gangs for what it is--a drama and not a documentary. I also like A Knight's Tale and Green Lantern.

Rjoyadet
People don't like Hugo? That's crazy talk. Halfway through the movie, when it was revealed that Ben Kingsley was Melies. I walked out, for two reasons. 1. It was the middle of the night, and I had to work the next day. 2. I did not want to movie to end after one hour. I wanted to dream about the story for at least five more hours.

Gareth
I really like Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. Also, and I'm kind of cheating here, I love what Superman Returns was trying to do. It failed, but I think it was a very interesting concept for Singer to make his version of Superman III.
