  1. Maybe it's because I started reading Wolverine and the X-books right around the time he had the Adamantium pulled from his skeleton, but I've always been partial to the bone-clawed Wolverine. Though he was still a mutant, it made him more human -- vulnerable. The claws could break, he could be hurt more easily, and it made him that much more of a tough guy when he worked through the pain and won. What are your thoughts?
  2. Okay, three of the four have officially signed, and they are... Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic: Ioan Gruffudd Ben Grimm/Thing: Michael Chiklis Johnny Storm/Human Torch: Chris Evans To date, Sue Storm has not been cast; however, a twist has been added to the story. Until now, word was that either Rachel McAdams and Keri Russell were locks for the part. But the newest bit of news suggests that Jessica Alba, of all people, might swoop in and take the part.
  3. The ball is in your court. Ask away.
  4. On that note, I'm really looking forward to Madden 05. Though I might have to get it for Xbox, what with it now being an Xbox Live game.

    Identity Crisis

I'll take your word for it, but I'm still waiting for TPB.
  6. I don't mind the lack of commentary on every episode, but it would have been nice if the producers could have filmed short intros to each episode -- giving funny tidbits, historical notes, etc.
  7. Chicago casting call for Batman Begins! (source)
  8. Actually, if you listen to the commentary for "On Leather Wings" you'll hear them say more than once that it was the first episode. Blew me away, because I don't remember it as such.
  9. Yeah, I got it yesterday, and was like What the fuck...? when I saw "The Joker's Favor" on there, because I knew it wasn't part of the first season. It's still a great collection, and I hope they eventually release all the episodes.
  10. This is like the Classic and International brackets over at the Oratory! Null vote, because I haven't seen Escape from New York.
  11. That's exactly what I'm talking about! Punish the stores for selling the M-rated games to underage buyers, and put the blame on the parents for letting the kids have them.
  12. (source) 01. I am sick and tired of people connecting Columbine to video games. Jeffrey Dahmer's favorite book was Horton Hears a Who! by Dr. Seuss. Should we ban that? After all, if a cannibalistic serial killer enjoyed it, it must have corrupted him somehow. These people have to learn that one plus one does not always equal two. 02. If these people are going to attack games, they have to play them. 03. Video games have a self-governed rating system, one that the government has praised many times over as the best rating system ever. What these politicians need to do is make parents aware of said rating system, so they can make wise decisions when it comes to what games their children can and cannot buy/play. Attacking the industry is ridiculous. 04. Go after the stores that sell M-rated games to minors, not the companies who have every right to produce those games. 05. They talk about the gaming industry "training kids to kill". Never mind that the US Army produced a computer game entitled America's Army and gave it away for free as a way to entice gamers to enlist. The reason for this marketing ploy? More and more weapons are becoming computer based, and the Army needs people who are accustomed to using computers on a daily basis to operate them. They also want young people who are supposedly desensitized to killing because of games. The idea is that number of cases of shell shock (or post traumatic stress disorder) will decrease, and more and more enlisted men will want to make careers out of the Army because they don't feel sorrow over pulling a trigger. By no means am I saying some games aren't overly violent, but this is turning into a witch hunt of the highest order and is akin to what happened to comic books in 1954.
  13. There will be a 65 second Batman Begins teaser trailer playing before some viewings of I, Robot starting on July 16. Because I, Robot is not a Warner Bros. picture, it is not guaranteed that every print will feature the teaser.
  14. Six-Day Record (Wednesday to Monday) -- $180.1 million ---- Beating The Matrix Reloaded ($146.9 million) Five-Day Record (Wednesday to Sunday) -- $152.6 million ---- Beating The Matrix Reloaded ($144.4 million) ------ Which means Spider-Man 2 made $33.2 million on Monday, whereas Reloaded earned $2.5 million. (Says something about quality and word-of-mouth, doesn't it?) Four-Days (Friday to Monday) -- $115.8 million ---- No word if this is a record. Three-Day 4th of July Weekend Record (Friday to Sunday) -- $88.3 million ---- Beating Men in Black II ($52.1 million) July Three-Day Opening Weekend Record (Friday to Sunday) -- $88.3 million ---- Beating Austin Powers in Goldmember ($73.1 million) It seems as if the only record Spider-Man 2 did not break was the three-day $114.8 million (Friday to Sunday) mark the original set. Most attribute this to the fact that the sequel opened on a Wednesday, giving fans more time to see it before the traditionally crowded weekend.
  15. This is now completely open.
  16. Set-Up: Do we really need one? These two have been at odds for years. For sake of writing one, however, let's say Storm Shadow has killed Scarlett, Snake Eyes' lover. Place: A jungle. Notes: This will serve as their final fight -- it's to the death. No one else will interfere. Not even Cobra or GI Joe.
  17. New/Moved Category: Versus was moved out of the comic book category and made into its own so non-comic book fights (i.e. sci-fi, anime, horror, etc.) could be discussed.
  18. The thing is, his opinion of comics is based on the scene from 30 years ago. That would be like me writing a piece about Russia and bashing them for being Communist despite the fact that they haven't been Red for fifteen years. Times change, and you can't editorialize if you don't keep up.
  19. Update: The Opinions forum now has three categories: Mainpage feedback, Suggestions/Comments, and Member's Columns/Reviews. Name Change/Merger: Site News and Opinions have been merged under one category, that of Site News/Opinions. Name Change/Merger: All of the other categories have been merged under one heading: Topics For Discussion. It was simply a matter of cleaning up the board and saving space.
  20. In just four days (Wednesday through Saturday), SM2 has earned $128.8 million!
  21. Who the fuck knows? He's all over the places. He lost me between bashing the source material, to ripping on Jack, to crying about not having saved his childhood collection.
  22. Yeah, most Comic book fans wear NIN, not Metallica. I wear both. I wear neither.
  23. I was quite literally burning up inside as I read it. As a rule, I attempt to remain open minded and listen to the opinions of others so I can respond in agreement, challenge an idea or two, or rebut their entire claim. But this guy is so much of an elitist snob (he admits it), that there's no reaching him. From the sounds of it, he hasn't read a comic since the early 70s, yet he's basing his entire opinion on the comic scene from 30 years ago.
