  1. Wait!? Did you guys review a different animated titanic movie than the one that was on the trailer?
  2. I have noticed nobody put any of the women from Hayo Miyazaki's portfolio in the list. Pre Ghibli works Fujiko (Llupin 3rd: Castle of Cagliostro) She does use the gun, and a grenade. Closest thing to a woman going commando in a Miyazaki film. Nausicaa (Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind) I doubt any other politician would got to such lengths to prevent war. Kushana (Nausicaa of the Valley of Wind) The tiara conceals a blade. Ghibli works Ma Dola (Laputa: Castle in the Sky) Call her Captain! or she will use any of of her array of explosives which she keeps on her at all times. Unnamed Boss's Wife (Laputa: Castle in the Sky) Only needing a frying pan, she is not impressed with sky pirates showing off their strength by making their shirts explode. San and Lady Eboshi (Princess Mononoke) I wish all fights between nature lovers and industrial entrepreneurs went like this. Rin (Spirited Away) She may not Kamehamea a monster in the face (or in the No Face) but she does help the hero in her time of need. Risa/Lisa (Ponyo) May not be violent or carry any weapons but does brave typhoons to make sure the elderly and children are safe. Fio Piccolo (Porco Rosso) Although offering to fix a plane that is trying to escape the Fascist secret police may seem ditzy, she did stand up to pirates and was willing to put the rest of her life on the line for her client.
  3. I loved his performance as Smee in Hook.
  4. That . . . . could be interesting. In the Tiradesverse the Ben Kingsley paycheck is for a good actor in a bad movie, the Eric Roberts paycheck is for a bad actor in a bad movie. If James and Damien do review Twister would seeing someone before their award winning performances be the Philip Seymour Hoffman paycheck?
  5. Wasn't TMNT originally a parody of the gritty Frank Miller Graphic Novels? I guess it would be too much to wish that the movie will find some way to make fun of his movies.
  6. Whenever I see Yeoman J.M. Colt I keep waiting for June Lockhart and Captain Zorro to come running in with tears in their eyes, so happy to have found their long lost daughter has been found.
  7. Megalon was the first Godzilla villain I remember hearing about because Calvin from Calvin and Hobbes decided he was Godzilla and his mom was Megalon.
  8. I remember talking to a woman in an auditiorium about the Neverwhere show. She kept working her drop spindle and talked about how a person with a rug over their head could be a more convincing beast.
  9. I thought it was Hitllini, no wait that was Astro Boy. Maybe I am thinking of Randolf Schmitler.
  10. For someone who has seen about three hours of tv wrestlers in his lifetime (two of those three hours are youth rally skits hosted by Steve Borden). I was entertained hearing fans of wrestling talk about the subject. But I also would like to see them talk about Robert Z'Dar: Movie Star!
  11. ..... me too. That was where I learned what an Easter Egg was.
  12. Thanks, Mike. For fixing my double punch.
  13. Today my coworkers talked about how our Easter egg hunt was not getting as much recognition (and yet we still exhausted our candy). I decided to send the conversation on a tangent and ask what was their favorite easter eggs in movies. I told them that I enjoyed the Marvel clues that led up to The Avengers. They went to talk about the supposed innuendo in Disney movies I then shared about my favorite easter egg which is the Japanese mystery writer Edogawa Rampo. If you have a decent understanding of Japanese phonetics and say it several times you will find that his name is "Edgar Allen Poe." what are your favorites?
  14. If they ever remake "Tank Girl" there is no doubt in my mind on what song should be her theme
  15. No, not at all. I was trying to say any genre. Not just SF and fantasy.
  16. Just in case you have not seen Bison's controversial car ad.
  17. I do not know why owls are used as symbolism that do not mean anything. I also remember it being used in "The Fourth Kind." There was no payoff. I was thinking that it meant the aliens worked for Doctor Hoo.
  18. List some books you have read that you would like to see made into film. When I say film I do not mean a live action theatrical release. It could be a mini-series, web series, animated series, t.v. show or direct to dvd release. They also do not have to be SF, it could be any genre Rocket Ship Galileo- No real reason other than the fact that I want to see more adventure in the tradition of Iron Sky. Direct to dvd release At the Back of the North Wind - One of the most underrated Victorian fantasy writers. Anyone who reads the work of George Macdonald can see how he influenced Narnia, Middle Earth, and Madeline L'engles universe. So far the best adaptation is an audio drama by Focus on the Family (Yes that Focus on the Family). So I would like to see how another company would interpret it. I am thinking a mini-series by A&E.
  19. oh Oh OHHH! bad form!!!! making a suggestion of burning right below Depress-o-tron Vendor Nazipants.
  20. My friend and fellow Toastmaster had a pocket speech talking about the importance of recognition in a contract. He called it "Getting Fingered."
  21. Hayao Miyazaki - Beautiful movies, great characters. Accidentally started the Disney renaissance. Stephen Spielberg - The master of Heart Mamorou Oshii - Takes sophomoric humor stories and turns them into studies on existentialism. Brad Bird - Got me exited over Mission Impossible again Robert Rodriguez- big budget movies on a small budget.
