    Randomness

Near where I live, there is an Orthodontist whose last name is Vorhies but that did not startle me as much as the time I got a letter from a young dentist looking for patients, his name was Dr. Frank Miller.
  2. Come to think about it I also like Frank R. Paul's work. Always eye catching.
  3. One book series I would like to see only one movie adaptation would be the Stainless Steel Rat series. All the books I have read seem to be the same. Jimi DiGriz is the greatest criminal in the galaxy. During a heist or a con he finds an example of corruption, his conscience gets the best of him and he becomes a Robin Hood figure being someone who fights for the oppressed. I would like to see it as a anime, but that may be because they already have him in the form of Lupin the 3rd.
  4. Didn't they have a short of that before the "Mr. Peabody" movie?

    HD remakes

    My favorite game!
  6. Since everyone has something that is a spoiler. I am going to go real far in to the story with.
  7. One suggestion I had for what to do before the recap of the episode was have a sound clip of something that either referenced, copied or parodied Star Trek. There are so many, from Dr. Demento's "Star Trekkin" to the Veggie Tales episode "The Gourds Must be Crazy." I was thinking of changing my E-mail signature from "rick" to "ensign Ricky"
  8. I am glad that of all the characters from the original movie to come back, Dr. Serizawa made a return. I was told in the original draft he was supposed to only be seen at night and live in abandoned houses. Although I am glad they changed his character in subsequent drafts (Or else he probably would have come back as a vampire), I still look up to him from time to time. Whenever I have to work nights I always feel alienated and pretend like I am him to keep from going insane. The reboot did a good job of his character, he may not be as eccentric but there was still something off about him at all times.
  9. Well I am glad the second trailer did not include the inception BWOOOOOO! But I do wonder if they want "I am Hercules" to be the next "This is Sparta!"
  10. Since Dan mentioned boobies, I am reminded of the time when my senior class read it in high school. The silence of reading would often be interrupted with either gasps or whispers of "are we really allowed to read this?"
  11. Since it seems like people are still suggesting characters I would also like to add Officer Anne Lewis from the Robocop movies.
  12. I often just go for the graphic novels because the monthlies usually do not give me the sense of reading a story. It is a far cry from Al Capp who may have written a stupid offensive comic in Li'l Abner but I always admired how he was able to finish an arc in two panels and tease a cliffhanger in the final panel.
  13. Is Trask meant to be an anagram of Stark?
  14. I am surprised that people ranked Rings of Akhaten so low. While it may not be a great story or even a good story, I still thought it was better than other episodes like Love and Monsters.
  15. I would also recommend Escaflowne.
  16. You guys should be paid for promoting nostalgic television shows. Since you guys mentioned Married with Children I am curious to watch it. The first time I ever heard of it was in El Salvador where it was grouped with Monsters and the rebooted Twilight Zone. Since I could not speak Spanish I did not realize it was a comedy and thought it was a horror show. Ten years later I scroll through channels, see "Married with Children" and hear the name "Bundy" mentioned so I assumed that it was a dark comedy about a family of serial killers. Now that I realize I could not be any more wrong about the show I may give it a try. on the subject of assuming (and what it makes of me) I thought Snidely Whiplash was the guy whose flying machines were used to chase pigeons. Since TABHAL pointed out that the character I was thinking about was Dick Dastardly I now wonder who would win in a fight.
  17. I did not like this movie. The only people who I have met, who did enjoy the movie where people who are into computer graphics and enjoyed the motion capture technology. While I can sorta see Gaiman and Avery trying to explain why the Danes are gone, I felt making the protagonists unlikeable did not engage the audience. I had to read the poem in high school, but listened to a audio production of Michael Crichtons retelling "Eaters of the Dead." That version attempted to make the legend as close to reality as possible. But I like Chrichtons version better because he made Grendel, his kind (oh yeah there is an army of Grendels that goes to avenge their fallen commerade), and his mother very intimidating. The audience felt good when the heroes triumphed over the villains and not the sick feeling that most got when they saw the Zemekis movie. And as for whether it was a flop or not. I have heard some call it a moderate success and some call it a flop. At the time of posting this there are two Hercules movies coming out in the same year but there has not been another Beowulf movie in seven years. It may not be a flop but was not successful enough to keep going.
  18. I am ashamed to say I know very little about Gif's. Is there a way to take drawings and make 1 or 2 second animated gif files.
  19. I watched the first episode, but after hearing about the delay saw the second episode as well. I now realize that the way to tell people who have given Star Trek a try from people who have not is Uhura's singing. While watching, my mother said she did not realize people sang in Star trek. Yesterday at Popcon I came across a lady cosplaying Uhura who carried a ukelele. She told me it is her favorite instrument to play. Also in the crowd funded episode that is Star Trek Continues: Pilgrim of Eternity Uhura sings.
