  1. In the categories it won in, for the most part, it was far less than the other movies that were nominated with it. Also, from what I know of it, Slumdog deserved the love.
  2. *bump* So, all but one of my predictions was wrong. And the Academy made some shit decisions in my opinion. However, I have only this to say: At least it wasn't Benjamin Button. Might actually go see Slumdog now, have heard very good things about it. -- Picture: "Slumdog Millionaire" Actor: Sean Penn, "Milk" Actress: Kate Winslet, "The Reader" Director: Danny Boyle, "Slumdog Millionaire" Foreign-Language Film: "Departures," Japan Original Song: "Slumdog Millionaire" (Jai Ho) Original Score: "Slumdog Millionaire" Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award: Jerry Lewis Film Editing: "Slumdog Millionaire" Sound Mixing: "Slumdog Millionaire" Sound Editing: "The Dark Knight" Visual Effects: "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" (No. Iron Man.) Documentary, Short Subject: "Smile Pinki" Documentary Feature: "Man on Wire" Supporting Actor: Heath Ledger, "The Dark Knight" (He only won because he died.) Short Film: "Spielzeugland" Makeup: "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" (No. Hellboy II owns this hands down.) Costume: "The Duchess" Art Direction: "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" Animated Short Film: "La Maison en Petits Cubes" Animated Feature: "WALL-E" Adapted Screenplay: Simon Beaufoy, "Slumdog Millionaire" Original Screenplay: Dustin Lance Black, "Milk" Supporting Actress: Penélope Cruz, "Vicky Cristina Barcelona" Scientific & Technical Awards presented Feb. 7, 2009, at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills, Calif.: Gordon E. Sawyer Award: Ed Catmull John A. Bonner Medal of Commendation: Mark Kimball
  3. Case in point: Benjamin Button should not have won for Makeup over Hellboy, or for visual effects over Iron Man.
  4. They're speaking to themselves and not to the broader audience?
  5. Well, he won. So you guys were right.
  6. See, I think that Eckhardt as Two-Face was the better performance. Don't get me wrong, Ledger did a great job. It's just not Oscar worthy.
  7. ...The last part of the plot (must get Fiona back!) sounds almost exactly like Shrek 2.
  8. See, you think that when you see it for the first time. But then you watch it again, and his performance, while solid, isn't ZOMG BEST THING EVAR. Or, at least, that's what I found when I watched it again a few months later.
  9. Madeline Pryor is a Jean Grey clone.
  10. Well, yeah, it makes the most legal sense. Matilda's 3, and still a minor, and thus can't legally own the statue till she hits 18 and becomes a legal adult, and her mother being her legal guardian, the Oscar will be technically owned by her till then. And I very, very highly doubt that Ledger will get the Oscar, except out of pity. He was far from the best actor in TDK.
  11. HAH. Seriously, though. Happy birthday, you guys, and have good ones

    Nickelback

I think it's pretty safe to say that most of us will not be tuning in, as we don't really like or care about them.

    Nickelback

I don't much care for them, either. Like Ian, I liked their work on "Hero" for the original Spiderman movie, but I've never really listened to them, and never really wanted to.
  14. My figurine collection.
  15. Watched the first twenty minutes of the pilot episode. ...Eh.
  16. I've seen them here and there, but I wasn't sure how people felt about possible spoilers. http://www.thenewfrontiersman.net/?i=31.ww.sCpl3MLVwUc Who Watches the Watchmen - a Veidt Music Network special.
  17. Double-post, but I actually figured out how to take a screenshot. xD
  18. The citation from the accident a month or so ago which has been causing me undue amounts of stress is finally figured out. They're willing to give me a no-pointer if we can prove that we had insurance on the vehicle (Dad's already alerted the insurance company, and they're sending off a letter to them), and they're not going to raise the amount of money I originally owed, which means by the time I get my next paycheck, I will probably be able to pay it all off. *collapses in teh reliefs*
  19. Hah. 'm never going to be an RLA, though. It's not worth it out here. (RAs only get $500 a term and a single at a double price by me.)

  21. Fuck you, Preston. And you can use my name, you know. ^^
  22. Indeed. However, mine owns both of yours. ^^
  23. Ah. That would explain the ridiculous housing prices.
  24. ...Remind me, Dubs, where do you live?
