  1. Totally agree with the sentiment about 90s DC Comics. When people shit on that decade for comics, DC's rightfully never brought up. Although the sentiment about the Morrison JLA starting the Modern Age is certainly interesting...
  2. well that's the thing, what purpose does it serve exactly to adapt Spider-Man unmasking? Will he stay unmasked? Because they would never ever do a OMD movie adaptation. What's the endgame with it?
  3. I really love Garfield in the role. Aside from doing an all around better job in it than Tobey Maguire and looking a lot more like Peter Parker from the comics, he outright LOVES being Spider-Man. You can't just hire that kind of jackpot (no pun intended) with another guy. Plus TBH a lot of the Marvel Studios casting hasn't been spot-on perfect for me. The cast they have is great, but aside from Robert Downey Jr. (I guess) none of the other casted characters are played by actors where I couldn't imagine anyone else playing them. Whoever they cast for Peter will probably elicit a "good...but not great" response from me.
  4. One downside to all this is that it delays Black Panther and Captain Marvel. BLEGH!
  5. Diz-A-DAMN My mind's racing. This is HUGE NEWS
  6. Good to see it confirmed. If he were anyone else by this point, it'd be obstinate and annoying.
  7. Saw Whiplash with my brother. MY GOD. That is, bar none, the best movie I've seen in a long, LAWNNNG time. Like, in years. I cannot recommend it enough.
  8. ^Interested to see if your mind changes after seeing the TDK animated movies. Those are adapted pretty perfectly, especially the second one with the "Hunt for the Dark Knight" chapter and the Joker. IMO that's the best adapted story the DC movies have ever done. Saw "Beavis and Butt-Head Do America" the other night. I wasn't allowed to watch Beavis and Butt-Head when it was on as a kid (same went for Ren and Stimpy and the Simpsons, but those two I got away with a lot better) so I'm not super familiar with the original show. I found the movie to be dumb fun. I'm way more familiar with King of the Hill, so the style of realistic characters interacting with these two total idiots made the movie for me, especially the ATF agent. I also knew going in that Bruce Willis and Demi Moore voiced characters in the movie, but I could never tell it was them. They did a pretty good voice acting job. It was really silly, and I had a fun time with it.
  9. I'm not reading DC regularly anymore, but Batman by Snyder and Capullo and Batman and Robin by Tomasi and Gleason were both the best and most consistent, and from what I understand they still are.
  10. Love the look of Trickster II
  11. Yeah Lee was basically a henchman for years while Goodman was in office. There's that story I think Romita tells where Lee would call people into his office, friends he and his wife knew well, to fire them and how he gained a very real hatedom for years because of that.
  12. I always find it odd and kind of wrong whenever Elektra's on a team. And ummm...is Phoenix back to life?

    DC reboot

The New 52 branding is finished, but the current continuity and storylines are continuing. 'Zactly, it's like when they took off the branding of Brand New Day for Amazing Spider-Man. "We Are Robins" has me interested, and a bit perplexed. There are two female Robins on the cover, so I'm curious where that's going. T'was only a matter of time before Damian got his own series.
  14. I honestly thought the blue in Tobey Maguire's costume was WAY washed out. It got lighter as the films went on, then was truly blue in the Marc Webb films, but for the first two pictures especially the blue looked completely muted to me. The suit look decent, if a bit too busy for my tastes. Looks like he can barely move in that thing.
  15. I thought it was a very cool, almost "day in the life" episode. A lot of things were happening, and I liked all of the developments. I'm still not keen on shipping Linda Park with Barry Allen because...it's wrong, but I guess they took that sexy scene out that was in the previews.
  16. That looked pretty damn awesome. It's obviously cribbing a lot from "Man Without Fear", which I'm not the biggest fan of, but it still looks good. Hopefully by the end of the first season it'll lighten up a bit when he gets the red costume, but as a start it looks great.
  17. Tell me about it. The teaser's one thing, but the fact that they actively advertise that the trailer's gonna drop...guhhh
  18. All-New X-Men vol.4 Catching up on this series after reading the first three vols, buying vol.4, realizing I hadda read Battle of the Atom first, buying and reading that, and putting this off for several months. It's still well written, but slow moving. I s'pose now I move onto Trial of Jean Grey.
  19. I'll check it out but I've little interest in seeing a watered down, TV budgeted version of the Titans.
  20. Terminator 2's arguably his best movie, and a film that doesn't EXACTLY require seeing the first one IMO. Although the first Terminator's good too. I would heavily suggest Commando, as it's 150% a classic Schwarzenegger film in every way people imagine. It's full of macho fights, constant one-liners post-murder, typical "man wanting to save his daughter" plot, campy villains, and outrageous kills. It's exactly what Ranier Wolfcastle was based on in all of its glorious ridiculousness. If you're gonna look at a typical AHNOLD film, you gotta check that out.
  21. Oh Goddamn. That Henry James Olsen bullcrap made me drop the entire next season of Smallville.
  22. The episode was decent. I really, really liked Pied Piper, as well as the Norman Osbornish flashbacks with Wells. It wasn't a bad episode, but not as engaging as most of the others. I think it's because Barry took a backseat for the first time in forever, if ever. He was really a supporting character in his own show. I hope Pied Piper becomes recurring foe like Captain Cold, because the actor was great.
  23. I totally get people's trepidations with the tone of the movies, which we were warned about, but I guess I have a hard time picturing the classic Lee/Kirby era of the FF come to live action on the screen. I'm not saying we should compromise, but I guess I'm more expectant of alterations like this.
  24. I'm not eager to playa-hate on this movie like the rest of the internet is. Mebbe because I'm not THAT big of an F4 fan, but it doesn't look shoddy. To be perfectly honest, as a film it does look better than the Tim Story flicks, and I like those decently.
  25. This is the coolest news in a while to me. To see Tennant play that kind of sicko is really exciting.
